How long ago did the city have the plans to trim the trees??

Are theese clues written by one person? Is he/she a genius or a raving maniac?

Allison Wonderland

I don't believe its anywhere near the diamond. There are so many possible clues that would suggest a diamond and I haven't seen any, except for a place to play, but that suggested winter play.

If you're gonna think about the baseball field, why not FIRST base. Clues have mentioned "first" twice, and the "lucky one"...

And if you want the new clue just stick around a minute. It will get posted about a dozen times.

Yellowstone park is in Wyoming

Tough to get in (just like last night), but I got Wyoming Street from "yellow stone" on my own -- not too difficult. Who makes the sugary loaf? Doesn't matter much. Where Wyoming hits Cherokee is a small area to dig in. That little blue puck should go by noon (if the night diggers don't get it, the "morning afters" will).

sugar loaf also in wyoming

Well, I guess my area down around Ohio and Cherokee is out. Oh, well.. I *am* a newbie!!! LOL!

Yea, Greg. Took me 15 minutes to get here after deleating a message. But, to be xpected with the flurry. Things will quiet down now.

Cheryl and Hubs are off to dig. We were IM-ing in AOl so I knew the clue tho I couldn't get in here.

Great group assembled, huh? Love the humor. some really witty and intelligent folks.

Am fading fast. Won't be here tonite too much longer. Hope a WC'er gets it!!! They'd be the first purrson to find The Med via Internet!!!

Hey gang, thought I'd check in. Was up at Cher a few hours back. If it's there ;-) , it's been dug. But it's usually dug at least once! Is the concencus(sp) that it's in a twinkie by Wyoming? Server is going

*GAK* Luck to WC's! Going again now, will update on sight.

What's going on over at Cherokee right about now is what I call the locust stage. In the crisp quiet of the night, all the shovels, picks, and hoes sound like a plague of locusts moving across a field of white. It's an eerily beautiful sound. Harriet Island had such a nice locust symphony in '96 that I stopped digging just to listen.

greenslvs2: did you know Cheryl before the hunt or did you meet her at the Cooler? Also, I like the idea of separating ourselves from other Water Cooler threads, but PP*M*CC doesn't exactly stick in the mind. I never really liked Water Cooler Crew either though. Other suggestions are encouraged. As soon as this thing is found, we'll have some warm time to think about it for next year. It's great that the white clothing idea took off. Sounds like folks are making friends out at the dig site.

There's really not much more to discuss tonight so I'm going to shut down for the evening. If it's found tonight I just hope they keep the Cooler open a little longer so we can all put out some final thoughts (are you listening, Casey?). Catch you all in the early a.m.

Water Cooler Heads Will Prevail!

Good night all.. Good luck Green, Cheryl and Hubby oh and don't forget the dog. I would suspect it will go tonight. Hope to hear from you both via E-mail maybe we can get together and plan our stratagies for 1999 the year of the Three Planeteers and "Cooler hand Luke" paraphanalia (probably spelt wrong) We will rule the roost for sure. I'm already making a list of new winter outing clothes i will need for long cold nights outside. I should start on a list of tools as well, since this year it started out easy enough to dig but got tougher with the warm days and cool nights. (picks-rakes-torches) you know what I mean the usual stuff. All Hail Cooler Hand Luke!!!!

Sax, you just gave me goose bumps. Harriet, the night before, 20 some below at 2am. Leaving the truck, we paused to listen to the chorus. It was Dali style, can't be explained in text. You in the beer town again? As the Clash said, "Should I go or should I stay now?"

what time is the clue released outside the pioneer press?

she's right there is even something called the sugarloaf classic in Winona! Now how do you console someone that spent five hours one night digging right on that very corner? :( at least i met Kurt Condie.

My Old Post: Dave - 12:09am Feb 3, 1998 CST (#5540 of 6649)

Who was the one from the cooler with the video camera that was taping me at Winona and Chippewa?

Just curious.

Emmy & Hannah's mom, you must be a pro hunter. I am impressed. Here I am 1100 miles away trying to direct my crue of 25 year veterans . We need to team up next year. You will know who we are when you see us on the float at the parade Saturday. Thank God for laptops and cellphones. To bad the 4 grand won't cover our bar bill

Violator: Do you have any info on where diggers are concentrating their efforts?

Wed, 02/04/1998 - 12:00 AM Permalink

most of the people are at the main part by the slides It looks like a battle field I mean people are digging trenches to who knows where I

I sometimes wonder what goes on inside peoples heads when they pick a spot to dig One guy stood there for about 5 min then said to himself this is where it is trust me then started to dig this went on for a while then he moved to another spot repaeted his ritual and started to dig GOTTA LOVE IT

The sign still there? Whatever you do, do NOT give up damnit find that thing and ease my mind, I'm goin nuts here. I could feel how close I was that night, my feet were just getting too cold so I went back home. Go BeeYoB!!!

Ignore the clues and try this approach. If you were a diabolical agent of the Pioneer Press intent on confounding the masses for days on end, and yet you had to write clues to give away the spot (including the final explicit clue) where in Cherokee Park would you put it?

Just for the record, I feel it's at the jct of Winona only (not Wyoming). And if it wasn't bad enough dealing with this server (at least an hour or so ago), my pc decides to shut down! Hopefully the dear coin can wait for me to come out in the light of day...

I hid it in the middle of a field --- not by a sign

do you know what really sucks? to all that were out at cherokee, we all probably walked past the medalian in search for the PERFECT DIGGING SPOT we all know what that is, its the place that tells you it has to be here like a "lucky" slot machine does and after about 20 pulls of the lever it isn't as lucky as you thought! i wish it was done so i can stop obsessing or else i wsh I could just get my hands on it!!!(me and a million others!) Good luck all, its been fun I'll see you all next year! or read ya whatever!

There is a yellow stone wall at the entrance of cherokee and smith street. There are also 3 pine trees which could be shaped like pyramids. The smoke stack is visible and so are tracks.I have really enjoyed meeting so many people this year, having good clean fun wrecking the park. Never heard a harsh word, but of course everyone was heavily armed with some serious looking weapons. Going to soak now in hot water to warm up, and play something easy like RIVEN. God bless everyone.

What about the word 'fame' in the latest clue? We've been at CP for 5 nights, we were with the hundreds of people off of Wyoming. We were close but we are missing something. I don't think it's in the baseball field but it's really close. I think the word fame has something to do with it.

My experience was that although a lot of the ground had been trampled, very little had actually been dug up.

Thanks doodledog. I have always lived in St. Paul - no suburbs for me. Like the city. Not crazy for Mpls. I always get lost there. Too many numbers, alphabetized streets. Used to help my mom figure out clues. I have really enjoyed this forum. Hope they find a way to prevent the clogs for next year. Last year the server went down for a couple days so it is better this year.
