2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

who is this sam person that keeps coming up?

maureen, you might not be far off with the sock. it's not unprecedented, as it was done in battle creek in '95.

allison, i'm pretty sure they'd be worth something to someone!

AW-I have seen them on there and sometimes they sell sometimes they dont-$5-$15 each -since it has a coin. - that the person who wants it is on there at the same time you are. It is not "hot" that I know of but you could get something for it. :) I love her. (but I don't want it) :)

Thanks Scribe. Just wondering if would be worth the trouble of getting all set up on eBay just to sell them. Guess not.

On a related question, I wonder if you can sell your soul on eBay? (hehe)

Speaking of small, crowded places...I keep thinking it would be good to find a place for next year's pre-dig gig that was bigger and more accommodating for larger crowds. If anyone has any opinion or ideas along the way, please share!

Anybody else notice that the map of St Paul with the locations of prior hunts was used in todays add. It was also on those shirts they printed up last year. If you look at that map there are obvious areas of town that the medallion has not been in. could these areas be 'far and wide'. It looks like the puck has never been in the merriam/groveland/st thomas area or the duluth and case area.

New Daddy - I think you might be onto something there too. We've all got such good noodling skills. Sure will be fun to see what's correct and what isn't.

well, new daddy, if there's any one single piece of the clue that is meant to say something, it's gonna be the far and wide piece.

A large group on a Saturday night is always kind of tricky for anyplace. I assume we want some place in St. Paul. Fabulous Fern's is kind of a cool place that might work. http://twincities.citysearch.com/profile/5518856/

Gallivan's I don't think gets too crowded on weekends and is a nice place with lots of atmosphere: http://twincities.citysearch.com/profile/5518860/

Those are the only two I can think of that I've been to that are in the downtown/West 7th area, unless you want to go to some other part of the city.

Fern's is great! If we call in advance they'll be sure to make room for us! Course it's not irish.....

I had thought of Gabe's, but looking over the daily events list, there was already some sort of carnival activity going on there last night.

Is there any place left in Banana Square?

Sun, 01/20/2002 - 7:17 PM Permalink
ares

new daddy, i think most of us always looked at conway as a rec until they used it and called it a park.

Sun, 01/20/2002 - 7:17 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Fabulous Fern's has not so much of a back room as a back area. I had an event there once with 38 people that came close to filling it. it's definitely not bigger than the place we had last night. Of course it can be tricky to get a large room for the whole night for free. I've had to deal with that issue with other groups I'm in that don't even care if it's St. Paul or Minneapolis, and they still have trouble finding a place better than the limited one they have in Minneapolis.

Sun, 01/20/2002 - 7:18 PM Permalink

So that's it then...no more people can come than what we already have :)
