Well, if I'm going to make it out of bed at the crack of dawn with hubby's alarm, I'd best be getting some sleep. I just hope it wakes me up. I was used to getting up at 4:30 every day, but just got laid of a few weeks back, (boy would $3000 be nice!), and I don't think I've heard an alarm since!
No go, but updates to follow. If we don't check in, then assume we got tired/cold/drunk(?)/bored/confused/battsdead. Until Weds AM? We'll let you know if anything comes up, down, etc. Everything in life has turned into a clue.
if I were the "evil" creator, i would keep it in my pocket and go hang out at cherokee tonight and watch the poor suckers dig the poor suckers like me! i'm sure the guy who knows is out there and thinking "ohhhh! a little to the left, one more scoop! oh, your right in top of it!
Oh well. I guess if I don't have the ambition to go out there I might as well just go to bed now and read about it in the morning. I'm still going to make the wild guess its hidden in a Minnesota Twins souvenir cup.
Actually I wonder if the Pioneer Press has a spy out there, watching, waiting. How else would they know if you waited more than 20 minutes. Keep an eye out for suspicious lollygaggers.
okay, IMO, Emma and Hannah's mom is dead on. Met my hubby at Winona State (plus spent 16 years of my life just south of there). IT'S at *WINONA*, the Sugar Loaf is up on the bluff at the NorthWest corner of HWY 61 and 43 (road to Witoka), anyway I am digressing...The Stone is huge!!!! looks lika a big sugar lump and it is YELLOW. It is a huge landmark that all the "locals" would know about, it's even lit up at night.
Personnally don't think it is down towards Wyoming. Wyoming with yellowstone park isn't *local*.
Live just off the park, but don't recall the "Zone sign", however there are other playing field Zones (Besides strike zone, and Zone defense in basketball, there is an end Zone in Football.
Remember as kids, selecting objects as the end zones for football, yes I am female, But played hard! I truly believe you need to line up the 3 pyramids and the large object/stack and look between the trees.
Sorry so long, but have to get some zzzz's and Desparately want a cooler to find it.
good point im sure they have someone i saw a really suspicius guy up at mounds when the frusteration between parks was happaning i bet he was having a good laugh as he walked by TOWARDS CHEROKEE!!!!!!)
WrightWinger, it was great seeing you at the park. I felt guilty not having anything white on to id myself. Say hi to your dad - sure we will run into him up on the West Side (and i feel the best side)
If you aren't needing some sleep, the sight at the park is other worldly. Looking around, you'd think you were in a coal mine. The Devo song working in a coal mine popped into my head (oops, dating myself). It is almost eerie out there. Hubby and I dug for an hour or so, the going is slow, bring choppers/picks.
Just returned from Cherokee. It is quite a sight. Saw a couple of WC's walk past us. Still found people down at the other end of the park. Do they not get the next clue before hunting? Seems so odd. Having some hot chocolate with hubby then going to bed. The alarm goes off early and the day is busy. Hope to be back out to the park mid afternoon if I can clear my schedule a bit. Hope a Way Cool Bandana finds it if we don't. Peace
I was the one filming you people who were out there. Love the Sugar Loaf thing leading to Winona. Perfect! If you've ever been there before you'll know. Snow zone looks good as well. Stupid me read it once and I was stuck on "Surgery Loaf"!! What the hell is Surgery Loaf? I've been up for WAY TO MANY HOURS.
I was just out there. It's crazy the whole park is almost dug up! where the hell is that thing? It driving me nuts! I just want to know where it is. I don't even care about the reward now.
Have seen the twinkie thing while I've been slogging through the posts since 11:30. Could be. It doesn't matter what it's in now. Whatever someone digs up should be searched through. It'll probably be so clear when the explanations come out.
As a Parks and Rec. worker, with Cherokee being one of my parks, I give you guys permission to destroy that park! Just find that medallion! (I'll pick up the pieces later).
Might take a vacation day tomorrow depending. Day digging would be great for a change. Brought my 'virgin' sister out with us tonight. She wants me to clarify the virgin part. She has 2 kids just never dug before. Peace out
Just got back from CP. Although I've been digging for several years I've never been out at night before. "Other worldly" is a good approximation. Acres of lanterns and votives, the muffled "shoop shoop" of a hundred simultaneous diggers, the cold, the warmth of laughter and shouts and hollers, the dogs running between the clustered teams.
I'm not from around here originally (from NY). Tonight I knew I landed in the right place. Passing seemingly normal people on the streets of St Paul, I now know the truth.
Just got back from CP, the kids won't be "zoom"ing any more this year. Looks like most people are giving up for the night. Saw some poor sucker digging around a phone pole on Smith and george. The night might not be a complete waste some guy from the paper took our picture, maybe it will be in the paper tommarow. Well it sounds like my coffee is done so I'm heading back out to the trenches. Thanks for the hint about the yellow stone Cheryl I'm going to move up that way, if that is the solution they sure are making it hard this year. I'll stop rambling now.
Doodledog...How long has it been since you landed here? I've always lived here. It's nice to see your description of the scene at CP. We were out till just a while ago. It's why I like night digging. You got to be there to appreciate it. Night all.
I just returned from CP as well. It was quite interesting. I was digging by the hill near Wyoming and then headed for the car. As I walked, a woman with about 4 teeth, and fewer IQ points said she thought it was rapped in a twinkie wrapper because of the sugary loaf thing. I wanted to ask her if she ever heard of Yellowstone National Park, but thought against it. You just wonder why some people are out there.
By the way, the hint is spelled right in the web page, so I have to assume the paper was a typo.
We just got back from digging, we picked up the clue at 11:00 from the Pioneer Press. We just noticed that our clue is different from the one posted on the net. Instead of saying "sugary loaf" ours say's "Surgary loaf" So we did some digging and our trusty encyclopedia came up with some mountain top in Rio De Janiero. Let's talk about frustrating!!!!
It is hard to believe it hasn't been found with the way the ground has been dug up in a lot of places. Does anyone know for sure that you can turn in the medallion all night???
Mr. tomski, you're stretchin it when you say twinkies have pitchers
BeeYoB You Still There?
I JUST WOULD`NT HIDE IT,THEN WRITE CLUES THAT SENT PEOPLE TO A DIFFERENT PARK EACH TIME. THEN SIT HERE AND LISTEN

I'm totally stumped on this one...I've gotten every one in less than ten minutes....

just came back from CP....too much digging for one night, have to get up in the am and use the daylight
Good-luck coolers and good-nite....

You mean that if I come there with a bob cat you wouldn't care?
just so everyone can relax, WHEN i find it, i will be sure and give everyone here at the WC credit for helping me :)

I'll line you guys up with an army of bob cats!

Why was the clue spelled wrong in the newspaper (SURGARY NOT SUGARY), we spent hours trying to figure out what it meant.
Which one was right???
Let us know.
Do ya'll think yellow stone refers to wyoming? Or is there really a yellow stone in the park?

I was wondering about that too. I think it is just a miss print in the paper.

Does anyone know exactly how big the medallion is?
Hi Kay and Carol. It was very nice to meet you. Thank you for tips. Sandy
Landed in MPLS for grad school, october 1980, married into shoreview, 1983, came home to Mac-Groveland 1990, a digger ever since.
PS--I've often referred to St. Paul as NY without the New Yorkers (that's a complement). I've spoken to mayor Norm (from Brooklyn) and he agrees!
those of you that are thinking of wyoming really ought to get a clue and read the last 100-200 posts!
It is hard to believe it hasn't been found with the way the ground has been dug up in a lot of places. Does anyone know for sure that you can turn in the medallion all night???
!!!LATE BREAKING NEWS!!!
A sugary loaf and yellow stone = Follow Sydney to a large sauna
Has anyone seen the sauna? And who changed the spelling of Sidney?
A sugary loaf and yellow stone = You follow a grassy lane, at end
I think that's just on the other side of the yellow brick road...
Please someone put us out of our misery and find it.
you guys are all very funny and very clever..I hope one of you finds it.
Since it won't be me.....
To get some sleep would be quite nice,
and my boss would thank me for it.
But if the prize is found while I'm not around,
I'll put a pick ax in my forehead.
There is a grassy knoll theory in the works, too. Perhaps MedallionGate... Where are the missing minutes?
What are missing minutes?
Good night, see ya when it's light.
