2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

I don't think it is at AA. I remember going there last year, on some wild goose chase by advice from AW (both of us were in Como denial until the cocoa/mocha clue). AA seemed too small to have it there. Also, it is fenced off fairly well and has no parking spaces. As much as the clues fit, i have a hard time thinking it is there.

I was thinking about Arlington/Arkwright earlier, what if they pull the same S#@t they pulled at Newell? The year before it was there, there had been a lot of talk about, and a lot of diggers at newell. When people were talking about it again the next year, I thought- "no way, thats what they all thought last year" but sure enough it was there. Last year there was some serious talk of Arl/Ark- so what if they put it there this year? Alot of people will think -no way

I would just like to say that the PP would want to put it in a big park. If they had a nother catastrophe like they did at Newell...(god forbid that happening again...) they would lose so much money from publicity and selling of newspapers which is why I think its a big park like highland. and the Water Towers are on the golf course.

now if i can just work in the GPS i.e-ian..

hey, i wasn't suggestion a/a. i just opened the guide to look and see what fit and there it was. but as someone else pointed out, it also fits just about every other park in the city :)

It MUST be at a big park like Highland because I think the biggest thing is there is still no mention of staying off the golf course, and we are 3 clues deep. I know it is in rules, but if it was at small park like AA, they would have thrown the redundant golf statement in RIGHT AWAY. Just my 2 cents

tim_the_hunter

I am guarenteeing it is at Highland Park. Right now! Right here! It is a promise.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 11:43 PM Permalink
Nimrod

I'm not set on Highland yet- the weather warrants a bigger park,I think, and the clues lead me to believe this was hidden recently. That being said, they got the token Como hiding done last year. I think highland right now would be too..what's the word, common. I'll have it by tomorrow though; and high may be the indicator ore of a street or something - remember who had the high theory here first Tommy, and it's NOT the park!

Green good noodeling about high and fun.

I wonder ifthis is to throw us off and it is in a high part of a small park?? It is so eaely to give it away. high bridge??

Ya Ares like at Newell, wow was that pathetic, but at least the clue writer back then could actually write clues.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 11:47 PM Permalink

The Mystery writer just wants to get us to go TO'IN and FRO'IN all over the city before the park is revealed..

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 11:48 PM Permalink

this cluewriter really does suck

Oh, I'll remember you Conrad...When I hold the medallion at the press conference with my cheesy Burger-King style crown on, I will look into the camera with a tear in my eye and say that I owe it all to my great colleague Conrad. With that, I will cash out my 10k and off to the Bahamas...You are of course welcome to join me....Pay your own way of course :) LOL

Battle Creek or Highland. I'm torn between the two of them.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 11:48 PM Permalink
tim_the_hunter

There are hills all over, not necesarily sliding hills, just the hill.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 11:48 PM Permalink
leelabell

Teddy, can you still sled there? Or, is it off limits?

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 11:49 PM Permalink
SnowShadow

What clue was it found at last year?

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 11:49 PM Permalink
tim_the_hunter

no sledding on the two reservoirs. if that is what you are talking about.

REMINDER: The MAIN old water tower in Highland Park is the highest point in St. Paul. :)

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 11:50 PM Permalink
Terry

Far from the woods at Highland? Down the hill? The whole park is wooded except the ball field thing and that's up the hill.

Mon, 01/21/2002 - 11:50 PM Permalink
ITS MINE

Its at Mounds park people! You guys are thinking to hard no-affence. Read the clue # 2. “If you have some time to kill” means if you have any time left over treking all over every hill, to go and have some fun swinging. “Work your brain, your legs, it will be fun” means you are going to use your brain to find the playground, then go to the swings. Because to swing you must use your legs to get moving.

Haven't been there this year(in vegas of course) but in years past there has always been hundreds of sledders to frequent the hills by the water tower(not sure if that hill is off limits to medallion hunting
