2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Angie: Sorry, I fell behind, yes it is in St. Paul...and for those of you wondering Hillcrest is in the Highland area on Ford Parkway I believe.

Hadn't thought about the Torchlight Parade being a reference. I had thought about the knit your brows to possibly mean something about downtown St. Paul's knitting factory that it had.

Sethmon-I could tell it was you because you said hello from the selby area and I remembered your name. Looks like we have beendrawn into the madness another year! I can't believe my head doesn't spin off of my shoulders with all of the clues swirling around. Good-luck with the hunt! Maybe we'll see you out on the high hills while we are knitting our brows and killing some time.

I am either thinking that the reference to lighting a spark is either something about the torchlight parade OR it is saying that it is by the grills at a park or something like that.

Books, guide, maps all over the place here.

Looks like the hunt is heating up.

Going to get some sleep here. Need to pace oneself if the digging is going to get done later.

Goodnight and SCDs to one and all!

Hello! Jake Inge has entered the building... Lets focus on the facts, Saint Paul Park, big Park, hills, water and some sledding. Cherokee, Mounds, or Hidden Falls. Como???

Or however unlikely, Battle Creek.

Me2 has spent the last 10 minutes trying to convince me of that... I am not buying it with the "far and wide" thing. Big park, definately. This is jake inge posting on me2's computer. Hi Ian.

Are you thinking any relavence in the #1 when it is said "You may knit your brows on this 1. Of course we all know where #1 takes us, but it doesn't seem so this yr. But if you can see the #1 Bank from the park, would that have any relavance?

Annie: Allison mentioned earlier the "brow" can also mean top of a hill a.k.a. crest (Hillcrest) I know it seems early for that, but I am sticking with it for now. Just a note to think about

Tue, 01/22/2002 - 12:31 AM Permalink
DaBrewMan

far and wide refers to the "old man" = mississppi river

hi all, got here kinda late tonight, then spent 4ever going over the posts. I thought about the High Land (HP) thing initially, but where in the world is Hillcrest Park???

Tue, 01/22/2002 - 12:32 AM Permalink
Annie B.

Thanks Teddy, I hadn't seen that - everything is going so fast!

But it has got to be at the bottom of a hill, why is everyone thinking at the top?

Tue, 01/22/2002 - 12:33 AM Permalink
Diggin' Queen

I'm still thinking far & wide means the outskirts of St. Paul.

Jakety Jake, I think we're on the right track with the park we think it's at. Thought of some new ideas....

The line "time and tide" is part of the old saying "Time and tide wait for no man" (usually attributed to Alexander Pope) I'm searching now to see if it is part of a complete poem.. no luck so far.

Maybe this is a stretch.. "Wait for no Man" to "No man is an ISLAND?"

Dunno...
