2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Speaking of which, could "time to kill" be a reference to anything?

Is anyone still confused on directions to our fair city's parks...

yeah, but como was the spot in 1997 and (only 4 years later) in 2001...repetition doesn't seem to bother the clue writer/medallion hider. Except for that damn year it was at Conway. Conway?! Why you little...!

Hi Noodlers!

If anyone is planning to go out and dig somewhere and wouldn't mind being filmed, please send me an e-mail and I'll let the crew know.

Thanks -- and happy hunting. Jackie

"kill" was used to rhyme with "hill"....in my opinion.

Yes it is fun step, the fun and frustration go hand in hand. The frustration was just winning at that particular moment. ;-)

does that whole far and wide thing have anything to do with it all???

My Dalliance

Had to work for 20 minutes; lucky if I don't get fired this week!!!

Step, I like Hidden because (1) it's a St. Paul park, (2)it hasn't been there in a while, (3) it's huge, (4) it's hilly, (5) "time to kill" = set in Mississipi = Mississippi R. = Hidden Falls, (6) "trip" = fall

Thanks, Dalliance!

This is annoying. I can even make the clues fit . . . Indian Mounds park. "Light a spark" = Burns Ave, borders Indian Mounds. Mounds = hills. "Time to kill" = set in Mississippi = Mississippi river, which borders the park.

Tue, 01/22/2002 - 11:08 AM Permalink
StepDogg

Carl...it only lists like 6 parks under the "park" link.

My mistake...

I don't think that, after the 1987 debacle, it'll ever be at Mounds Park again. Could be wrong...

I agree, KA. I guess my point is that we still don't know jack. As Charlie Brown would say, "Aaaarrrgggghhh!"

BC is officially a Ramsey Cty park, not a St Paul park ... the first clue says it's in "a St Paul park." So, I'm putting BC low on the list (if at all). There's a difference btwn saying "a St Paul park" and "a park in St. Paul."

My Dalliance

Why did the cluewriter say "carnival hunter's pride" and not "medallion hunter's pride"? Who hunts for a carnival? Sloppiness, or a clue?

A lion is a "carnival hunter."

BC is a St. Paul Rec. Center though...

Why is nobody connecting the first clue and the phrase light a spark to Torchlight parade or grills at a park?

Hmm, people think that it's Highland because of high from "time and tide" and land from "fun and slide". That all works except for "funland". The others have the abstract word at the beginning, where as funland has it at the end. Also, why choose funland? Why not choose landmark, landfill, greenland, homeland, something like that? Those are much more normal than "funland". So that's my argument against that line of noodling. And I'm with Green when she says it likely won't be at BC because of the skiing.
