Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.
l and a mommy
Battle Creek is listed as a regional park not a city of St paul park when I look it up am I mistaken?
Queen...I thought so too, but what i saw is that upper afton (the left you take off of mcknight, seems to be the divider of st. paul and mplwd. when i was leaving there is a sign where i was that said "saint paul battle creek"...so i think the side i was on is in st. paul. I wish we had a clear ruling on the boundary, but we don't.
So does a county park equal a St. Paul park? I know its in St. Paul but doesn't the county keep it up not the city therefore not a City park as stated in clue 1?? I don't know maybe I am just stretching it...I see a lot of things that fit there but don't want to be looking in the wrong park.
We are assuming the clue writer is new. OK, he/she/it forgot to write about golf courses in the clues. They were submitted/approved too late to change. Also, there are going to be many animal-type references (sparky, pride) so they gotta mention the zoo. I guess the Harriet Island inclusion is because of the renovation, but I don't like that idea.
It occurred to me that every year people always say "never at Mounds again" and I've always thought if in fact the PP thought it off limits that they would say so explicitily...I think the fact that they have now said Harriet is out (any ideas why?) lends weight to the idea that Mounds is fair game...otherwise they would explicitily say it was out. Treasure Digger (I think) what are differeniating between a St. Paul Park and a Park in St. Paul? Official city park instead of a county park in St. Paul proper? I think this is what you mean, but wanted to clairfy...
Battle Creek Regional Park, 846 acres located in the southeast corner of St. Paul and southern Maplewood between l-94 and Lower Afton Road, provides a large natural area in a developing suburban neighborhood. The park's extensive woods, wetlands and grasslands provide habitat for many species of wildlife, including deer, fox, herons, egrets and hawks. Four miles of paved biking and hiking trails offer visitors the opportunity to view the birds and animals as well as the beauty of the vegetation. Winter visitors can tour the park on 10.5 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski trails.
If anyone puts Mounds into consideration...PLEASE...Stay off the mounds and out of fenced in areas. If you see anyone in these areas...tel them to get out!!! Search...Don't Destroy!
Good one , llb. I think if the writer of the clues but in a clue that the medallion is not on a golf course, it would be a waste of a clue. It would be just like saying stay away from Harriett Island and Como Zoo.
Treasure Digger,There are two main areas traditionally centered around the Winter Carnival, that is the downtown area as well as their parks and Como.
There is a park that has a specific Winter Carnival theme that is two blocks away from the river and located in St.Paul proper and right by a school,it also is surrounded by the seven major hills of St.Paul mentioned in the legend o f King Boreas(refer to you Winter Carnival handout in the sunday paper).
Yo what up my peeps......The garage logic think tank has assembled once again in the garage which is located in an undisclosed location and we will peruse and contemplate the clues and get back to all of you with our wild deductions
Dalli,I really think it is a whole phrase meaning the historical context.
Just my opinion. But I think we will not look back on this as a specific water clue but a clue to reference the area and signifigance of the park itself. It is only clue three.....they haven't gotten to narrow yet.Think surrounding area.
I am back....drove out to BC....the entrance of the parking lots gate was closed.....HMMMMMMMMM....a lot of fresh snow (uninhibited) other than the deer and skiers.....Standing at the entrance I could plainly see downtown st. paul and the 1st National bank " 1 " silhouetted in the skyline.....

its a ramsey county park, lm.
I still say it has to be in an area of St. Paul.

Ian,
I think that is the real treasure.
if it says far away from the woods, you would almost have to think it is a big park!
Stepp, anyone from the cooler there?

one lady, but i didn't get her name.
in the past the clues would say ramsey county if it was outside of st paul
LM, check this site out:
http://www.friendsoftheparks.org/
mcknight's the official boundary except for where it moves east around beaver lake. incidenatlly if you go here, bc is a rather huge park: http://www.co.ramsey.mn.us/Parks/maps/battle_creek_final.html
ALright thanks Queen
You can look up the parks for St. Paul as well as Ramsey County.
I think this is what's up with the rule changes:
We are assuming the clue writer is new. OK, he/she/it forgot to write about golf courses in the clues. They were submitted/approved too late to change. Also, there are going to be many animal-type references (sparky, pride) so they gotta mention the zoo. I guess the Harriet Island inclusion is because of the renovation, but I don't like that idea.
Look for more of the same...
The rules say the med is hidden in Ramsey County, and BC is in Ransey County and it has been hidden there three other times once in 57,70,95
Couple of quick thoughts...
Description: See...it is part in st. paul!
Battle Creek Regional Park, 846 acres located in the southeast corner of St. Paul and southern Maplewood between l-94 and Lower Afton Road, provides a large natural area in a developing suburban neighborhood. Me thinks Ian has been at Como riding the Merry-go-round again!LOL!
But Dart in 1995 the CLUE said Ramsey county park...not the rules...this year's clue would lead one to a park actually in St. Paul
Doesn't the Carnival reference in the last clue pull at you?
The rules also say it is not at Harriet Island, on a golf course or at como
Como Zoo not Como Park
think that the hiding spot & the clues were determined months ago
Time and Tide......a phrase in itself or separate meanings for each word?
Clarify: I believe the park must be in the city limits of St. Paul.
The "carnival" definitely seems to play an important part of that clue, but can't quite make out why.
If anyone puts Mounds into consideration...PLEASE...Stay off the mounds and out of fenced in areas. If you see anyone in these areas...tel them to get out!!! Search...Don't Destroy!
When I hear carnival, I think of pick-a-duck
Hey...I'm back! What's up, y'all? NE revelations since 11:30?

The rules say nothing about the limits of St.Paul Just in Ramsey County
HIGH time, HIGH tide per Green
The keep off the turff signs were still up, but not in the dog area of park on the big hill that goes down from the woods
Ramsey county is the rules...in a St. Paul Park is a Clue. Clue superceeds the rule
Time and tide, fun and slide.... you have water St and joy ave intersecting near Cherokee is there a slide there, or a big clock?
Time and Tide......a phrase in itself or separate meanings for each word?
An earlier head wrote that an anagram for "time and tide" is "a died mitten." A dyed, knit mitten?
Treasure Digger,There are two main areas traditionally centered around the Winter Carnival, that is the downtown area as well as their parks and Como.
Scribe: what are you trying to tell me? Did I misquote something? The rules stated, I thought, not on Como Zoo property. Did I say "park"?
Dart, that is true. The rules say public ground in Ramsey County, but Clue #1 said in a St. Paul park.
Only kiddie playgrounds - no clocks
what is the name of that park off vicoria and 35E?
died? doesn't work at all...
Yo what up my peeps......The garage logic think tank has assembled once again in the garage which is located in an undisclosed location and we will peruse and contemplate the clues and get back to all of you with our wild deductions
Scribe, what park are you descibing?
Dalli,I really think it is a whole phrase meaning the historical context.

Ummmmmm......okayyyyyyyyyyyyy
Monroe Playground I think...or Palace playground/ Rec. Center is a couple blocks down Jefferson
You got a guide TD?
Bingo Carl.....just worth checking out...I did this morning.....looked pretty good for only the third clue.
I think it's at Prospect Park
thanks Carl it was Palace I was thinking of!!
