The Pioneer Press medallion has been found. Details are at our Winter Carnival page.
The hunt's over, but the discussion rages on ...
Terry
Which hunt book are you looking for? I have "The official 1987 Winter Carnival Treasure Hunters Guide" and the "Treasure Hunters Guide" from 1996. The 87 one lists all the clues from 1952 thru 1986, key explanations and recurring patterns of clues and the locations of all the treasure sites through 86. Good information but was before word processing as we know it. Would be great redone!
Need to tell the author to have the book redone. I've enuff on my plate w/logoed Cooler Crew wear, a post 1998 Bash and a pre 1999 Bash!!!
I *think* we're talking about the... oh, gosh!!! Don't know which one!!! The one the guy was selling at the parks. Would you please e-mail me the names of those two books and their authors? My printer is only printing Chinese letters at the moment. Thanks!!!
A sock??? In that grove of trees, my son had a dirty diaper when I was walking around that area 4 days ago. I guess I should have taken that as a sign, I just thought it ment I had to leave to change him.
I have looked for 15 years and I am amazed how many of the clues the cooler crew figured out. Thanks for everybodies help.
Yeah I can see it all now something like Charlies Angels (Cheryl's hubby can be Charlie) LOLOLOLOLOL Probably more like the Three Stooges:) Any way you look at it WE WILL BE ON THAT FLOAT!!!
Only once a year am I saddened the way that I have been today. The sad, terribly, and tragic news was given to me not long after the lost treasure was found. I look over to where the wonderful and sacred hiding place of the mysterious medallian was placed and think back to a few minutes ago as I was leaning against that very tree, tying the laces on my snow boots and then running from the treasured medallion that I, and so many others, longed to find, just to catch up with the rest of my group as we continued our journey to find this wonderful prize. But no, my hopes and dreams were shattered when I recieved the heartbreaking news that THE DAMN THING WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FRICKIN' NOSE!!!
But I want to be from Venus isn't that were women come from? Sorry to say but since the hunt is over that also means life goes back to normal. (whatever that means)Hope to see all you COOLER HEADS on Sunday. SYARS
Probably can't make it Sunday. Our daughter is participating in a fashion show out at THE Mall that afternoon. Really disappointed. Would love to meet all you!
Man...I just get home from work and knox where I bought some Mapp gas for my flame thrower I was going to use to hunt tonite...I guess I will have to save the setup for next year :(
All PPMCC Members... I've just had my heart touched by an angel...
You know that we HAD to have caused the PP a bunch a probs with our enjoyment and fun of this particular Cooler, what with clogging up the server constantly, etc... And you KNOW what a dear Casey was to us - always honest, rite there when we needed him, always cheerful, willing to help and soothe our feathers when we got riled by something/someone...
So, I privately invited him to The First Annual PPMCC Re-Hash Bash. Well, like, if he's not a member with all he's done/did for us... Then none of us are members!!!
This is what Casey replied:
"greenslvs2,
Thanks for the invite. I'm sure my ability to attend will depend entirely on my ability to recover from my Saturday night poker game.
Anyway, the massive participation in the Water Cooler has been quite the buzz around the PP. And if I can't come, please extend my thanks to the PPWCC for a fun and lively discussion board.
Cheers,
Casey Trauer
Planet night editor"
Nice guy, Casey. Let's all hope he makes it Sunday!!!!
Thought my fellow members would be proud - wanted to forward it on to you.
Sad, very sad and slightly depressed. Was all ready to make last "ditch-diggin" effort at 4am b-4 work. Question: Did anyone else line up not the "Dome" but the "stack"? I was making a line where the NSP stack lined up with the center "Pyramid". Someone make me feel a little better. :-(
Re: Coffee, My parents have an urn or two just lying around, if anyone would like I'm sure I can borrow them, They each would make 25-30 cups. Emmy & Hannah (and Mom & Dad too) will try to be there. Dad thinks the whole idea is a little weird, but will convert him by Sunday for sure!! I haven't looked at the clue explanations yet, so I must go and do that! My e-mail address under the picture is real - anyone can feel free. I already get enough junk mail, so I am not afraid of anything bad coming from THIS fine group. see ya/talkatcha later!!
giddyup, you coming Sunday??? We can all show each other where we thought the *right* place, ah... was.
don't feel so bad!!! I started out last week trying to convince everybody McKnight, 3M, the Ordway and Upper (HIGH GROUND!) Afton Road signified Battle Creek!!! Also zeroed in on the dome over the picnic tables in that park!!! So, I'm a bigger dummy'un you!!!
What time and where is everyone meeting? Had more fun this year in the Cooler than I had hunting. Never been in the Cooler b-4, but damn sure to be there next year.
Sunday, CP - where it all started and ended for the PPMCC. 11:30 a.m. until... We find the next one??? LOL!!!
You know what you need to bring/wear, Giddy???
Ian: I'm gonna need that list. You think you can get it to me like... Three days ago??? I need to see if folks can bring stuff... Plus got another idea.
Can either of you/both of you bring gallons and gallons of water for the coffee????
BUMMER!!!, Ian. Work on that list for moi, will you???
Hay all! I know I was kind'a obtuse about the clues, but here's an idea....
All this DOESN'T have to end!!! NOPE, NADA, ZIPPO!!! Don't gotta end!!! We can keep going!!! Why? Because there's other WC topics!!! Yup!!!
Not like we're gonna all want to go to the same ones at the same time or even to the xtent we did our dear Med one... But... we can meet and talk and LEARN and CHALLENGE EACH OTHER and SHARE OPINIONS and DISCUSS and TALK.... Because the Med maybe gone, but The COOLER lives on!!!!
The PP is always having a WC about ANYTHING!!!! Like when Dave Moore passed away... I even thought of going in there, but... well... didn't understand about the WC's and all that..
But now I DO!!!! Now, I'll feel more like going into the other ones and meeting people and sharing ideas... and in some of them we may run across each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brad B- You found out like I did. In the cooler. It really sucks, was all ready (shovel in hand) to head out in a.m. Irony of it all is that my son told me to go dig where the damn thing was found and I went to dig by the BFR (big friggin rock) at CP on Saturday. Lesson: Kids see what we read too much into.
We are the ones who found the medalion this year. I just want to say it was fun chatting with you all.see you all next year, please send feed back. S&M
giddy!!! LOL!!! First, we need WATER and lots of it for the coffee. BW e-mailed me and thought of gallon milk jugs - like somebody suggested we pour on the snow to melt it and find the Med. Can you bring water? I'm brining the plop in the water coffe and filter all in one things. Somebody... BW??? Is bringing big coffee makers. I should be writing this stuff down!!! Oh, well!!!
Casey, don't cut us off until Sunday!!! My printer is not working and I need to be able to know who's bring what!!! THANKS!!
Mite go in and see what's happening under Clancy.... Is there anything else out there???? The wolves in northern MN???
giddyup - ain't that the truth. Kids seem to have a sixth sense about this type of stuff. My 6-yr old was sitting by that tree 2 days ago and digging around with his boot. Congrats MH - tell me more about the "crack" in the Tree ... didn't see a reference to it in the clue explanations.
Maurren: Congrats!!! Come to the Bash on Sunday and give us tips, tell us what led you to that spot, tell us your story. Have you read about the first annual PPMCC Re-Hash Bash???

Well, then that means that me and Cher will be riding, too!!!! LOL!!! Won't we be a site!!!
Yes they are in front but we the the hind ones left in so that they (I) could always climb out of any hole they've (I've) dug.LOL

Probably can't make it Sunday. Our daughter is participating in a fashion show out at THE Mall that afternoon. Really disappointed. Would love to meet all you!
Had to see the spot myself, so I made a final trip to CP. There was no excitement driving there this time.

greenslvs2, I'll be wearin white. What do y'all need? Coffee's my cup of tea. How about some Super Mom's famous danishes?
If you all quit talking fashion and start talking clues maybe we could find this thing before the next clue comes out.
Sitting on ground (high ground) death of kings (riches immeasurable) someone help me here - I'm not getting the connection.
BUMMER!!!, Ian. Work on that list for moi, will you???
