2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

I want the new clue! I couldn't nap...must find medallion.

Ian, did I mention I'd like to go a huntin but got no car? I wonder if they allow shovels on buses...it would look kind of hilarious and they would take it as a weapon I am sure...Could get you the CD sooner than later...Either way we'll for sure get together to copy it.

But, in the end, I liked MLK yesterday because of the allusion in the beginning to America and Patriotism. That is the carnival theme.

Thanks for the clarification.

Tide could still mean what it is in. My dad suggested the little small box you could get from a vending machine. Then it could be wrapped in a knit item,

sort of like the earmuffs one year.

Does anyone else think it is odd that they used the phrase "park n rec" and why there is a "N" instead of using "and"

I hope someone posts the clue at 11 like they have been! and whats the number to see if its found ?

Oh and another thought on MLK, A Dale is a valley or hill of sorts is it not. MLK is on DALE on one side.

Enough about there.

Anybody been someplace else that nobody is talking about?

reg - I think that is the way to short the clue. They have all been quite wordy compared to past years.

ill be there annie!

Purely an anagram, anyone willing to help. Take your hunters guide and look for streets. Than see if any words or phrases in the clue are scrambled versions of the street names. I think we may get ourselves farther than we thought.

Jokysu - I was also thinking of a litte Tide detergent box from a laudromat. But I picture it hidden inside of a knit hat.

reg, dalliance and i also noticed that. using the word and instead of n would have made no difference in the meter of the verse. so that's an as yet unresolved question.

Anybody been up to Valley this year? I always thought that was weird, a Valley on the top of a steep hill.

Thu, 01/24/2002 - 7:47 PM Permalink
Annie Metcalf

I'd go out and look now, but I wouldn't know where to start. I hit Phalen, Linwood (twice), Orchard, Jimmy Lee, Battle Creek, and Como (yesterday)...nothing

I remember at Cherokee, they used "cape and whip" as an anagram for chippewa, a road by cherokee.

Maybe you can see a N from the correct park ? who knows.

I am not very good at this stuff. Why do I have to be such an addict for the hunt.

I haven't used the anagram except for 5 min. It wouldnt detect odd street names.

It's really small...they have the tennis courts on the west end, the paking lot and rec center and then the "tot lot" and then a small hill and two ball fields, glazed with ice. A few trees around it...I don't think it's there. It's on Orchard and Milton, near Gabes by the Park (bar) and Como Ave.

Ian, LOL - would look rather funny tho, wouldn't it? Someone suggested I go to an army/navy store to get one that folds up. Any ideas where I could get one?

I went to Phalen Rec last year. They have paths, and a hockey rink. There was something odd written on the hockey rink last year.

This was the place where Sherwood crosses Forest. Forest is a woods reference.

What was that other street a few down that people were talking about last year?

I should get a map or buy that book. I have a handicap.
