George McGovern's on W. 7th is a renowned Vulcan haunt. Belly up to the bar, and you'll be sure to get the latest gossip. I do believe that the whole city gets medallion fever, but experience has taught me that the closer you are to where most of the events occur, the more diggers you'll find.

Thanks for the condensed info Mr. Sax. I have clipped and saved every original printed daily clue and the explinations since 1980. A lot of them are real yellow and frail. I'll bring your info with me now printed on fresh paper. The only difference will be that my originals have various beer and coffee stains on them with many stories associated with each stain. I still buy the daily paper for the originals, only because I have such a collection going. It's nice to see that you're still into the 'Hunt' even though you're miles away. I've aged a bit since I've started, but the drive is still there. Camping out all night and digging for 12 - 15 hours at a time are things of the past. I try to use my head a bit more these days, and thanks to you and the others in the 'cooler', it has helped a great deal.
I personally think that one and two are just general ideas. Number one says look in a park in St. Paul. So that gives you a big picture of St.Pauls parks as a whole. The next clue narrows it down a little more. Gives us a picture of a park near or around somewhere with high ground....
So I'm thinking...Highland park...or the Battle Creek- Ski Area...or at least something of that nature. Again they are narrowing...talking generally about location.
I've been a lurker since the Estabrook days last year. This is lots of fun, and you guys are so helpful. It's amazing how close I come every year. I should have found it in highland, I was right on top of it. But the snow was really packed down. Oh well. see you at Mounds :)
What does mounds have anything to do with zooming...fun..rosebud...? Kids don't go sliding down a Slide during winter...so that's definitely out of the question.

Fro greg and any one else who cares... I went by Mounds Park this afternoon and there was bt a hand full of searchers... Although the usual spots were dug up (around benches, the playground, s9igns, etc).... Although at this point mounds would work, I am not convinced....

The pioneer press and winter carnival want to get as many people to look for the medallion as possible so don't look for really specific clues until saturday and sunday because that is when most people can hunt...lastly, it very well could be in a small park because they usually make the hints to the park obvious by this time if it is in a large park. If it is in a small park, it will most likely be found soon after the park is identified thus the reason to have vague clues to its where abouts until this weekend.

If I get my way, all of the clues (1952-present) will soon be available for fresh printing, both at Pioneer Planet and at all the St. Paul public libraries. I have the means. It may not happen this year, but a history lesson is best given before a hunt anyway.

How about the flood water lines on the side of the river as the almost immeasurable clue? They can be seen by both Prospect and Mounds. Just digging a bit.

Well actually....Mother Lode means mineral deposits. The mounds in mounds park are far from being mineral deposits. They are burial grounds.
Of course....they could also refer to the "mother lode" as a gold mine.
