2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

TMK - Too funny!! But true!

Cherokee was when Hannah was just itty bitty - 8 months old. But we drug her out to the ReHash anyway.

Conway, Emily was old enough, and the weather was decent enough for her to actually pretend to dig a little.

Newell - I only went out a couple of times at night without kids (and fought the idea all the way).

Como - I was talking with someone at the BASH about our experience at Como (as a family). They actually <gasp> saw us and mumbled about whether we were E&H's Mom and Dad. We no sooner had gotten out of the car and found a good place to did than we heard "I need to go potty!". I took that child to a bathroom, and child # 2 fell flat on her face in the snow. By the time I got back, everyone was crying. We went home.

Marry-em - Didn't get to dig but the food was awesome!

I can't imagine the crew won't be together - of course there will be changes because other than death and taxes, it's the only thing you can count on.

Congratulations, Lisa's Mommy! You did it!

Mom - 30 years from now it'll all sorta moosh together and you'll only hold pictures in your mind without certainty of park or year.

For the record it wasn't coffee last night, it was the fact that I had taken a nap and wasn't tired for the first time in a long time.

No doubt, Terry. No doubt. You must've said that while I was typing my family diggin' history. My mind already schmooshes a lot of stuff together, and I'm sure the hunts will be no different.

Nighty x 2!!

Hey Allison!

I could see you as an event planner. I did that as part of my former job. You'd be good at it!

Goodnight again Mom!

He likes to be called "Oh Captain my Captain"

I got the full description of the position from leelabell and it sounds like I wouldn't be qualified for it. I might have a shot at a writing position though.

But I have done event planning and I do think I'm fairly good at it. I used to organize this 1920's themed casino party in college. We had over 650 people attend. It took 4 months to plan and 100 volunteers and $6,500 to make it happen, but it went off really well, and I was in charge of it all. Now I plan smaller scale events with my singles club and other groups I'm in, but it seems I'm still always planning something. It would be cool to plan a big event again, but the money always ends up being a problem.

Speaking of hunting...the cops around here sure have been hunting down folks speeding through here. They've got another one up at the corner. It's great! Someday a kid could get killed out here. Don't people get that residential streets aren't the Indy Speedway?

From now on Its "Oh Captian my Captian" then :-)

I go by many names actually. People here usally call me Allison, AW, or Al. I don't normally go by any of those in normal life so I can't say I have a preference.

I don't know about Captain, though in another group I'm in, I'm known as "The Count". :-)

I remeber someone from your group asking if you had arrived yet this fall...and I had to stop and think. I only really think of you as Allison - not your out of the cooler name.

Terry, those people are probably the ones to go speeding off to the State Fairgrounds or Powderhorn Park to look for the medallion. Or climb the biggest oak tree in a park to get a kite down from it.

You're probably right, Kids! Good thinking!!!

to be part of the Mock hunt do i have to register at your yahoo account?

Tue, 01/29/2002 - 11:07 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

No, you don't have to, but it has some advantages (you get the clues mailed to you and it's hard to say at this point if this board will still be around). Of course you can always read the clues from the website without actually joining it, but you wouldn't be able to post anything.

Reminds me of back in 1998 when we could do colors and font sizes. It got a bit wild and wooley around these parts.

I'm going to hit the hay here. Not sure what tomorrow will bring. Today was weird.

    Goodnight and MCL!

it's not a different font, it's different characters altogether. Each font has 256 characters, many of which don't appear on the keyboard. For example, the W in Wonderland is made of two Yen symbols next to each other.
