I say we go back to Ares' place, we can throw our undergarments on the chandelier, bust out the spit shields, have us some fruit and veggies and meat, and party till the break of dawn.
Thanks TV, Lee and yes 40K Ares. Does that sound like it could be close enough to defend needing them? My car has 135K and hasen't neeed sh!t until today with the tires. I'll never buy a first model year car ever again. Wait for the second year it's out so they work out the bugs first.
From how much I've talked about this in the past 2 days, I'm getting pretty sick of it all. I'm usually like you and won't really back down for anything. And things could change tomorrow when I think about it again, but I would think that the only step I have is to call Lynn Enterprises themselves (they pay for the Amoco name) or take them to Small Claims court and try and prove that my car didn't need the repair in the first place. And of course the mechanic did try to cover his butt by saying 'this is a common problem for Blazers'
Ares - The only time the car is 'off-road' is when it's is at the shop and up on the lift for repairs.
TV - I'd like to see somewhere that says common repairs for the various vehicles. That would be very interesting. My guess is that Blazers would probably be on every list. (provided that list was compiled for me upon bringing it in that is)
Yea, I think your right Ares. Sux big time when you know they got you by your Ball(Joints) And there's nothing you can do.
ARES - Good point about seeing/having the replaced parts. Any time it was going to cost me any chunk of change, I would for sure want to see those bad parts!
It's time to play ball! Single game tickets for the 2002 Minnesota Twins season will go on sale at TwinsFest on Friday, February 1st. I'm not a mechanic - but would rotors sound right? I think that's what they said made it expensive. They showed us the parts and asked if we wanted them. They were obviously worn and we let them get rid of them. All I know is for two wheels, the cost when totalled was $800.
i'm no mechanic either, but your typical brake job (new pads, turning the rotors) would probably run you less than 200 per axle. add less than 100 bucks per axle for new rotors.
No way rotors should have cost that much, but maybe there was some other part? Any disc braking system would have the rotors, maybe you had a bad sensor for the ABS or something...
Well, whatever created the high price tag, there were parts and parts and parts there. We trust their service. They have actually saved us $$$$ on many things. We've been going to them for years.

the program with nothing to hide
You can be sure to hear that "this is common to ______" for any costly, overpriced repair.
without the original ball joints, you'll be hard-pressed to prove it didn't need new ones.

Clueguy.....it all depends on how big of a pian in the butt it would be...sometimes it out weighs the money you've lost!
Backatacha again Lee!
I would like to see that list too. Of course those first year models wouldn't be on any list - at least not for a few years.
Anyone have to replace ABS brakes? Now that's an expensive brake job!
Scribe - I guess the real pain in the butt about the money is that I needed to take out a loan from my 401k at work to pay for it.
I pay myself back, including the low interest rate though.
Hi guys....
Just catching up on the posts from the past little bit - the slogging is coming along slowly.
ABS brakes - it all depends on what part fails, sometimes expensive, sometimes not so.
Clue - I am glad to hear that you had a *good* car experience today. Gives you a little faith anyway that things can be that way.
still waiting, scribe
rule 1 of auto repairs. always ask to see the replaced equipment. they have to let you see it.
abs, ter? what needed replacement??
Scribe, again to you
Hi Mom!
I shouldn't really complain. Those brakes were about the only costly thing I've ever had to put into that car and it has 136,000 on it now.
Evening E&H's mom. How are the girls tonight?
Scribe and Leelabell, I feel like I'm watching a tennis match with you two sending emails back and forth

the abs sensor could be rather expensive, yes.
And the brakes were MUCH better afterwards.
