It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.
The time for fun has now begun In our hunt that's open to all But if you don't want to be outdone Look only on public ground in St. Paul
A park is the spot but a golf course is not So please don't disturb a fairway or green Follow this advice and you won't be caught Wasting your time at the wrong scene
Thanks, Axel!! I was going into depression. I'd say a golf course is near by but warning not to enter that area. Of course, it says it's in a park and homeowner's near the golf course would not like us hunters anywhere near their property. "Caught" and "Wrong Scene" may have to due with what it is in or attached to. The Capital letters in "Look" and Wasting" might also mean what it is attached to. Glasses or Trash bags or possibly attached to a trash can. What do you think?
I have a sneaking suspicion that it's @ Phalen! I can feel it! The first clue may be warning people to stay off Phalen Public Golf Course because it's right across the street from the entire side of Phalen Park. Lets'go diggin'!!!!!!
I'm not making the clue up. Look back at my first post 246. It was there before and I still have it up on another window and I just copied the address from it.
Okay, so let's just work with what we have so far. I believe these guys -- maybe because I'm so anxious about starting the hunt. I can almost hear my hoe and rake calling me. If they are pulling our legs, then it was a great start to getting our thinking caps on. Phalen is west of Maplewood.
I was trying to link to the Medallion web site around 1:30 this afternoon and the PioneerPlanet kept knocking me out. So I have to believe they accidently posted the message, saw their error, and brought the web site down until they figured out what went wrong.
I was on this board all last year and consider myself a member of the cooler crew so don't try to discredit me because I didn't go the the get togethers.
Jim - TFT: Maybe, I'll know better when the clue does post to verify what our friendly hunters are saying. I'm going to have to study my maps and make a list of parks with golf courses near by. Do you have any maps with you? If so, did you find Phalen Park/Lake?
Axel, Alan & Jill, I'm acting on behalf of the Crew that are having a prehunt party. I've called them twice with the clue information. And they don't trust the source (or lack of). I will apologize for anything you misconstrued Axel, but the clue just ain't there!
I'll apologize to everyone for not believing!!! If what they are saying is true, there won't be a way to prove it until 11:30. So, let's talk about the clue to humor the rest of us. Please...
I still have the clue up on another window so I copied it for all the people who don't believe. I have not reloaded it so this is from over three hours ago at http://www.pioneerplanet.com/wintercarnival/

Clue No. 1:
The time for fun has now begun In our hunt that's open to all But if you don't want to be outdone Look only on public ground in St. Paul
A park is the spot but a golf course is not So please don't disturb a fairway or green Follow this advice and you won't be caught Wasting your time at the wrong scene
For this year's Winter Carnival, the St. Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation has adopted the slogan, "No time for cold feet."
Experts nationwide are baffled by the phrase, with most speculating may be a sly reference to the "I ain't got time to bleed" line spoken by Gov. Jesse Ventura in the movie "Predator."
In any case, there's no event as foot-warming as the Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt, and no web site so well equipped to cover the hunt as this one.
Once the action, ahem, heats up, we'll post the latest clues right here, on the PioneerPlanet Winter Carnival page, and we'll do it every night at 11:30 sharp.
Be sure to check back often for the latest news and clues.
For more info, head to the official St. Paul Winter Carnival site, maintained by the St. Paul Festival and Heritage Foundation.

The clue was out over three hours ago at http://www.pioneerplanet.com/wintercarnival/
Hey Treasure Digger! I think these guys are pulling our legs about the clue.
Hey, Jim-the-Freight-Train. So tell me what you know!!
I have a sneaking suspicion that it's @ Phalen! I can feel it! The first clue may be warning people to stay off Phalen Public Golf Course because it's right across the street from the entire side of Phalen Park. Lets'go diggin'!!!!!!
My better half says that Highland Park also has a golf course next to it.
I don't even know where Phalen golf course is.
Axel there is no clue on the URL you gave! The Cooler Crew doesn't think that this is a legit clue! Please give specific address to the clue.
That is the official clue! It was posted ont the PLANET and is as follows:

Where are you finding this clue???
So are you guys going out digging now or tomorrow?
Jim TFT, where is the clue. The Crew thinks I'm BS'ing!
Hey MJ! Someone said that they had mistakingly put the clue up early but I think someones trying to pull a fast one on everyone.
Tommorrow.. maybe

Mee tooo!!! Have the Crew waiting on the cell phone! They think someone is lying!
No one seems to want to post the exact URL address to the clue! They're just giving the WC page.
I guess we will find out if that clue is true or not when they do post the clue in less than one hour
I was trying to link to the Medallion web site around 1:30 this afternoon and the PioneerPlanet kept knocking me out. So I have to believe they accidently posted the message, saw their error, and brought the web site down until they figured out what went wrong.
Hey Treasure Digger , are you digging tomorrow.
I was on this board all last year and consider myself a member of the cooler crew so don't try to discredit me because I didn't go the the get togethers.
Help Me!!!!! I'm so confused
Jim - TFT: Maybe, I'll know better when the clue does post to verify what our friendly hunters are saying. I'm going to have to study my maps and make a list of parks with golf courses near by. Do you have any maps with you? If so, did you find Phalen Park/Lake?
I want an apology in an hour when they repost the clue.
Jim - TFT: Okay, you're going to have to show me how you did that on Monday!!!
I trust you, Axel! After all, it sounds like something the Mom would make up as a clue.
No problem Treasure Digger
We hopped online at about 9:45pm and went to this URL:
http://www.pioneerplanet.com/wintercarnival/
Ten minutes later it wasn't there. Someone must have wanted to get out of the office early and got caught. Sound like somethin' I would pull. -Alan
Axel, I would like to trust you, and you don't have to bee a Crew Member, and show up at Pat Macs. You just have to be a hunter, as we all are!!!
So . . . where did ya see the clue?????
Thats how you talk real loud so that everyone hears you. He He He
I want to dig, I want to dig!!!!
Hello
Huh? Jim-TFT, what are you talking about? Did I miss something?
Howdy Patsfan
Hi, Patsfan! Are you at MacGoverns?
When you want people to hear you Treasure Digger You have to talk real loud
Hi Jim and TD -
TD - Nope. I'm near St. Losers, Misery.
Axel, Alan & Jill, I'm acting on behalf of the Crew that are having a prehunt party. I've called them twice with the clue information. And they don't trust the source (or lack of). I will apologize for anything you misconstrued Axel, but the clue just ain't there!
