My Dalliance

It's also fun to say right away to the person, in a sleepy voice: "ohhh ... i was sleeping . . . you just woke me up. hmmm i was having this dream, a beautiful, beautiful dream, that a telemarketer called me and woke me up in my sleep. Then ... in my dream ... I HUNTED DOWN THAT TELEMARKETER A$$HOLE AND MUTILATED HIS SCRAWNY LITTLE BODY INTO A BILLION PIECES AND MAILED THEM ONE BY ONE TO HIS MOTHER..." and so on and so forth.

Randy to Frosti: What's your sign?

Leave it to Dal to twist an innocent question into something perverse.

i've actually got a couple of ways that i use to avoid telemarketers.

1) distinctive ringing service. anyone who you care to talk to gets the "distinctive ring" aka unlisted number. use in combination with caller id. if its the normal ring with a number that doesn't show up. its safe to ignore. anyone you cared to talk to would have called the other number.

2) let your computer answer the phone. the person on the other end will be greeted with fax tones, assume its a fax number and mark it as such in their database.

Did the IOC do the right thing in awarding two gold medals in the pairs figure skating?

Canada should be the only winner 52.2%

Yes 36.5%

No 11.1%

15,707 votes

From a poll done on espn.com.

I don't know all of the Olympic IOC's options but maybe...

They should just reverse the medals. Give Gold to the Canadians and Silver to the Russians (or let the Russians keep their golds but don't give credit to the Russian Country for them).

Then fine the Russians and French Governments before they can enter skaters in the next Olympics. Also ban the 2 judges who made the deals from ever judging again.

That French judge looked so "Cruela DeVilleish" / Librarian...with her hair pulled back tight and glasses and that frilly feathery thing on....all she needs is a whip to let loose!

Who the hell broke the forums? PST?

I guess I've been requested to dig through the cache of my mother(KT)'s PC to see if I can dig up a lost message or two. Unfortunately, I don't think that there's going to be much that can be done; however, if someone can e-mail me @ MAnderson@ings.com with the details of what's missing, I can check a couple of HTTP cache's I have running at home. I'll do my best. Thanks.

Me2 - LOLROFPMP on your take with the telemarketers! Loved it so much that I e-mailed it to a few of my friends. Maybe I'll try it sometime when I get irritated enough with the unavailables that ring in here daily. Some days I must get 20+ a day.

Crafty, Yes, she IS a wolf! I have had sled dog breeds in the past, and none of them have EVER given me the "howl", the antics, or the behavior that this one does. I will NEVER get another wolf!...As cool and groovy as it sounds, a wolf is NOT a good idea! She is "tame", never been in the wild... but if you have had sled dogs, you will know, and understand that they have a code of their own. I am committed to Hannah, and I love her, but she has eaten all my seat belts, and tries to tunnel out of my house when I am gone...

"Where have all the Ares gone?" Oh- My bad, Ares is either fishing, or eating fish....Artemis, R-U here?... heard the cheesecake was tasty... I hope the next day that you, the cook, were able to say, "OH! My Goodness!!!! It DOES TASTE BETTER!!!" I am glad I do not have to give any mopney back for that treat.... It makes me happy to share something so good, and Marley thought you mastered it.... Was it hard to make?...Or understand? Did you put Poultry on it, against my warnings????

Well, this was a weird occurance.

I had thought that "peoplesforum.com" was a part of the new twincities.com forum.

I guess not.

I had to dig this one from memory :P Why are you guys here, and not invading the new twincities.com messageboard? Are you THAT accustomed to Web(ack)X?

Ares: Unfortunately, I can't find anything (you should have tried visi's cache servers right after the event, I see that you're a customer...) as far as the missing Cooler Crew threads.

If you ask me, and I know that because of my attitude on the matter, none of you are, this forum layout and operation is arcane. It's lame. Please, someone tell me that you came here for some other reason than its familiarity. The ColdFusion (and other UBB/phpBB like) system they have on the new website is a whole lot better than this dreck.

Que sera sera.

kt, ares is now trying to debunk the theory that he's always at his computer (me2, that's a message to ya) :) he is not however trying to debunk that by going fishing.

matt, i'm sure for a lot of people its because the format is familiar. the fact is, we hit realcities.com back when the med hunt was going on (read the minnesota twins thread there if you don't believe me) and found that its just too slow. and as we were shopping for something with acceptable speed, we figured that for the sake of those who were too accustomed to webx, we may as well favor sites that use it. besides what's used on realcities is simply not conducive to slogging.

as for checking visi's cache servers, i don't use them others might, but i for one don't.

as you say, que sera sera. hopefully, the pp's sysop will be able to get an export of the database for me. if not, i'm only short 31 messages, which out of 31000 isn't all that bad!

    Good Evening Everyone!!

Been a busy night around here. I decided to get a grip on this house and have been purging and rearranging stuff.

Scribe - Hope I'm not too late to wish you all the luck in the world this weekend! You go girl!!!!

I think I slogged too quickly to get the cheesecake recipe. Sounds scrumptious. My mother made a pumpkin cheese cake once and it was simply out of this world.

I have a small wolf collection - in plates and pictures and such...but no live ones.

Crafty-so that was your dog! Such a cool looking dog! I never was sure who's it was, I don't think we met. Also sent recipe to you.

I've been hoping to find that person so I could get the recipe. I love wild rice and that was very good.

So the hunt for that person is still in progress. Someday...

Your dog was sooo gentle with the kids.

I think next year we should use nametags at the rehash and the pre-dig. I think that would make the meeting and greeting easier.
