well, isaac newton did invent calculus, after all, so that he had a way to explain the physics.

About a month ago, I saw a guy with the coolest shirt ever.
On the front, it said:

I dunno ares. Did Newton really inventcalculus, or did he merely discoverit? I think he discovered it.

Applied Math

Seriously, he has a master's in Finance. He burned out on Physics and decided not to pursue a PhD. Instead, he spent time working in very large national banks. Then, he burned out on the rat race of working in big cities and moved back home. He works at American Express in Risk Management modeling the hell out of everything.

John has goofy math team stories that show his true inner-geekness.

Also, what every woman knows is that geeks are sexy (Kilty and Reg, it takes awhile before the girls figure it out).

3.1415926535. so nyah.

to exactly calculate it, add up the series for the arctangent function for 1 and multiply it by 4.

Actually, newton discovered the physics, but he needed something to describe it with. or so the physics prof i had in college said anyway.

Pi to 500 digits (i can go a lot farther if anyone wants):

not exactly calculatebut approximate. the series still must be approximated. Right?

.....What he said!

I never liked math. I'm going to be in big trouble when my kids get to jr. high and high school and ask for help!

Emily was taking a pre-algebra class as an enrichment - that was hard enough for me to strain to remember.

WAY past my bedtime. Goodnight and SCD's to all!

OH YEAH!

Have a great trip, Frosti!

right, kilty. but the more terms you add in, the more negligible each one gets, not that the series will ever converge to anything...

cute picture, Mom - good night to you

I always liked math, but didn't take it past 10th grade advanced math (something you take after algebra and geometry but before pre-calc). Didn't have to take it in college either. Am very very very rusty now.

It would suck ass to have that for an identifying number.... like.. in jail or somethin, where they tag it on peoples backs... people would just start calling you "Numbers"

I was driving to work earlier today and a song came on that made me think of Jake. I thought it was appropriate, especially the chorus. It's "Without Me" by Eminem. The chorus goes...

Now this looks like a job for me so everybody just follow me/ cuz we need a little controversy, cuz it feels so empty without me

It was like I could picture him singing that and meaning it.
