Nice to be a nice guy though. Someday someone will return the favor I'm sure.

I keep running to the door and sticking my head out. I can't get over how many stars are visible tonight. Awesome kick to park the car in the garage, walk out and look up.

Fri, 02/13/2004 - 8:14 PM Permalink

We found it interesting the amount of traffic tonight. Lots of snowmobiles being hauled on trailers - but lots of just vehicle traffic too. Wonder if something is going on this weekend in Duluth.

Oh! Three Dog Night - March 25 and 26th - 8pm at the Hinckley Casino in case anyone is interested.

I like keeping with a KEEP WARM theme. kinda like any sponsorship we could get as the COOLER CREW - Carabou Coffee - I am gonna mention this to the Campbells guy when I call him to get my hat ;p ---soup keeps you warm and maybe they can donate something to us besides being at the pp next year.
any other ideas?

Me2 when you are making them keep me in mind, I will buy one. I have been looking for a scarf but nothing has caught my eye. That would be perfect.

Yeah me too :) Too bad we couldn't make some mittens or something. I made those in highschool... and those really cool hockey hats... I made those too :)

Fri, 02/13/2004 - 10:46 PM Permalink

Well personally and politically speaking I am standardly in the anti camp with the scarf issue. Prolly because I had a traumatic experience with one as a child (and NO, I do not wish to speak of it). However, I tend not to be inflicted with the phobia when others are wearing them.

Fri, 02/13/2004 - 10:53 PM Permalink

I think mittens and hats would be a cool idea too :)

King Boreas aka Ian

King Boreas: Do you know about the Where's Trent thread?
MedallionHuntDoc: Yeah, I saw it -- I laughed so hard I almost choked and suffocated myself
King Boreas: Ok, cool
MedallionHuntDoc: Really hilarious and creative
MedallionHuntDoc: Hey, I'm sorry I didn't see more of you when I was in the Saint Paul
King Boreas: fun, as long as you don't care
MedallionHuntDoc: The hunt just went by so quickly
King Boreas: yeah
MedallionHuntDoc: Oh no, I love fun
MedallionHuntDoc: I was hoping we'd all by at one park and in one section of a park for awhile - a la Como 2001
MedallionHuntDoc: but everyone was so gunshy
MedallionHuntDoc: For me this hunt had an odd feel to it
King Boreas: yeah...I had to leave town for a couple days for a funeral
MedallionHuntDoc: I think I liked it the least of the four hunts we've covered -- even though we had snow and winter
King Boreas: it was very odd
MedallionHuntDoc: ouch, that doesn't sound good. I'm sorry to hear that
King Boreas: expected but the timing wasn't
MedallionHuntDoc: Well... expected is better than unexpected, but still... mortality isn't fun
King Boreas: yeah, then a second one in the same family last thursday
MedallionHuntDoc: Between the PP and Jake, I just didn't enjoy this hunt -- I determined to hunt next year (no more shooting) and actually hang out with everyone and have a good time
MedallionHuntDoc: geez...
King Boreas: man, that sounds great, time you had fun with it
MedallionHuntDoc: amen
MedallionHuntDoc: Jackie and I have really enjoyed shooting and editing the film, but it's been long and hard
MedallionHuntDoc: definitely not an easy event to cover
King Boreas: I bet, hope it works out for you
MedallionHuntDoc: but the people and the event are great, and I hope we've capture that
MedallionHuntDoc: regardless of where the film ends up and how well it does, it's worth it
MedallionHuntDoc: Jackie and I have no doubts about that

King Boreas: tell jackie I said hi
MedallionHuntDoc: I will... tell your wife hi too
MedallionHuntDoc: Did you get some good photos of the Ice Palace?
King Boreas: I finally got my Curse DVD but haven't watched it yet
MedallionHuntDoc: cool... thanks
King Boreas: nah I only went once, but took my wife's parents
MedallionHuntDoc: if you get a chance, listen to our two commentaries -- you'll see what hell making that film was
King Boreas: it was a good time tho
King Boreas: Oh I will
King Boreas: I'll let ya go. Can I post the part about you're cool with the thread ?
MedallionHuntDoc: And, as I've been telling all Cooler Crew, make sure everyone knows that I'm no fan of Jake's -- I can't distance myself enough from that guy
MedallionHuntDoc: Oh yeah... tell everyone I love it, my family loves it, and the people that work for me in NYC were laughing their asses off
MedallionHuntDoc: take care
King Boreas: ok, man, see ya
MedallionHuntDoc: and keep in touch

For the record, I don't care if Trent likes Jake or not.

I don't want people thinking they have to choose between Jake & the Cooler Crew.

I just don't want people sharing with Jake, what is said in here.

I'm actually trying to get sponsored by a swiss cycling team...They're where I got my avatar from. But on that same line, I think it's a fantastic idea. I think in addition, we should figure out a way to do pin trading of some sort, like they do at the olympics?

go for it - I'll buy one! the only thing I would suggest is make it a working-item - maybe pockets in the scarf to put stuff like a camera or something?

So Big G, does this sound like you?

Born under the sign of Aries, you are generally uncomplicated in your attitude to life. You come straight to the point, and do not allow yourself to be held up by details or by boring or niggling problems. Your basic motivation is to push ahead, and you have to make a tremendous effort to learn to be patient. These qualities often enable you to have your own way, because you don't stop long enough to determine whether others mind what you are doing. Compromise is not one of your strongest point, and one of your main faults could be selfishness. Try to remember not to be indifferent to the feelings of others. You easily express your natural enthusiasm, and are motivated to achieve a great deal through your lively, positive way of dealing with everything.

You have intense and powerful emotions, and your feelings can at times be expressed in extreme ways. When others are honest with you there is nothing you won't do for them, but you are possessive with the persons you like or love. Be careful so you don't become vindictive because of jealousy. You must also be careful not to indulge in daydreams so that you lose all contact with reality. You may not plan for the future by developing your potentials, and end up being frustrated because you feel you are not progressing. Try not to resent suggestion from well-meaning friends as an attempt to discredit you.

Although you want to act when the urge moves you, it isn't always easy for you to do so without some apprehension. You are more defensive than offensive, and usually recoil rather than take decisive action to defend yourself when attacked. You tend to burn physical energy unevenly, and can overdo things when under pressure. Tension and inability to relax can result.

Many different subjects interest you, since you have a boldly versatile streak which need full expression. As a result you could find it difficult to sort out your priorities and direction in life. You have intellectual flair and ability, and a happy, basically optimistic temperament. Restlessness can be a problem at times, but bright repartee and a sense of humour should be in evidence.

You have a need for everything that is of high quality, and a perfectionist attitude, as well as a liking for ceremony. Thoroughness in work, ambition and determination are present in considerable force, and a kind of noble regalty colour your opinions and attitude towards life. You tend to be conventional, and conform to the standards of your own generation. You are able to carry responsibility, and powers of leadership could well emerge, as well as a hint of pomposity.

Mentality & communication
You are articulate and mentally aggressive, but you can also be impatient, unrealistic and sometimes insensitive to the feelings of others. It might be difficult for you to admit error and say that you are sorry when you should. You have an uncomplicated and forthright way of approaching things, but you probably need to cultivate better judgement in examining the facts before you do anything, because you can easily become over-enthusiastic about new ideas and projects. You may also lack the mental staying power to see them through successfully, and will most probably be impatient with other slower-thinking people.

You have a gift for communicating in a pleasant manner. You know how to say the right thing to people, and get along with almost anyone because you understand the art of compromise. This doesn't mean that you always give in, rather that you have the ability to win people over with a special charm when the need arises, and be very easy-going when you decide it is appropriate.

Sometimes you tend to be mentally overactive and restless. You have a sharp tongue, and can easily become argumentative, often to the point of taking an opposing view for the sake of argument. You might also take personal affront to those who disagree with you. You need to learn the virtues of patience and verbal restraint, and to bear in mind that your judgment is not always infallible; guard against jumping to conclusions before considering all the facts.

You are also broad-minded and positive in your way of thinking, and your intellect can easily handle abstract ideas. You are always interested in improving and expanding your mind and your knowledge. You learn rapidly, and you remember what has been learned. You have the ability to express yourself very well, and others often turn to you for answers since your knowledge is so extensive. You are likely to be drawn to higher education, and might take an interest in the field of education itself. You could also have a talent for generalized thinking, maybe especially philosophy.

Your mind also has a practical, well disciplined side, and you usually think before you speak. But when you are sure of your facts, you state your case with seriousness and authority. You keep yourself well informed on subjects you need to know about, even if it requires some effort, and you have the ability to make the most of what you know. You are ambitious to learn, and your method of learning is the slow and steady way. You do not like to flatter people, and any compliment you give is most surely well deserved.

You have a fertile imagination, and are emotionally sensitive enough to understand what motivates others - your intuition is highly developed. You probably have an artistic imagination and the skill to express it well. Your thinking is partly driven by inspiration - you have the ability to visualize a project or object in its finished state, and use that image as a guide when and if you realize your ideas. Your way of communication is emotionally effective - you have a flair for dramatic delivery.

Social & interpersonal relations
You have a strong tendency to fall in love very quickly, and you will do everything in your power to win the affection of those to whom you are attracted. Your charm is in your straightforwardness of approach and your enthusiasm for love and pleasure in general. One of your problems could be that you fear the burdens of commitment. You don't make adjustments easily and prefer that others accommodate you in your relationships. Until you learn to become less selfish and accept the responsibilities of a commitment to another person, you will only experience temporary encounters just satisfying the senses.

A bummer note: Dad lost his job yesterday.

MOM - DAD - I so feel for you guys. I hope he got some sort of a severance package. If not, he needs to get moving Stat. The only regret I had when my position was eliminated was that I waited until my severance ran out before looking for a new job, which takes a few weeks just for the process itself, let alone finding something decent.

You will be a tighter family after the fact. Support is the main thing. Both ways. Good luck!

Did he get some sort of a notice at least? 30,60,90?

Thanks AW. I'm not really a fan of the signs but that worked on many levels for me. Being a Pisces, I couldn't help but recognize certain phrases. Tension and inability to relax can result.

Plenty more in that post as well. VJ is a Green Goblin too. The 15th? Mine is the 17th!! I'm all for a PARTY LL!!

Thanks you guys for your thoughts!

CM - He has a *small* severance package. And figuring with unemployment income....it looks like we'll be okay. We won't be able to buy anything extra, take trips to Target (that place just sucks money right outta the checkbook here), or run out to restaurants 5 days a week. At least when I was looking at our expenses in quicken last night at 12:30, it looked like we could keep the rest of our standard expenses.

We're off to the airport in a few. It's too bad Dad didn't know he would be out of a job, he could have spent a few more days with his sister.
