Scribe - I was in the frog pond ... and you know whats it's not there because the water is not frozen and my legs got all wet!

the hell you were. except for a rabbit, mine are the only footprints in the snow there, as ot and tc can testify to.

although, the conservatory end isn't frozen solid (nor was it when last i was in the pond during a hunt when it was about 10 below).

I was referring to the posts where someone said that Eric got wet in the pond because it wasn't frozen.

Weird.

The couple times I've actually been in the frog pond, it was completely frozen. That includes last year when it wasn't that cold yet.

Well, I was kinda close to what that post said.  Ok, it was scribe who got her feet wet.  lol

Yeah, Great Waters sounds much better than the Lobster joint. I was only there once, maybe twice last year, but I still think Great Waters sounds better.

Well, this is all just to slow right now. I gotta go grade some papers for my class anyways, might as well get it done and overwith ASAP. I'll check back in a few hours. Some fun noodling going on here!

Just the fact that they wanna be our home :) is reason enough for me!

You guys crack me up - who can google the fastest?

So I'm to understand that people are going to the Great Waters and NOT the Rockin Lobster? I'm going to dinner at the Olive Garden in Maplewood with my family at 6 and then will probably go straight downtown from there.

I know..... Lurkers are all over the place this year...

Probably my fault :(

I think it sounds great. Considering the amount of money the crew spends during this time of year I would think they would be happy to have us. :)

That's odd that you mention that Kitch, there was an article in the paper today about dog parks

Mears is not a dog park, per se, but it does have designated areas for dog walking.  And dogs scoot, especially when they have blocked anal sacs.  But I digress.

I have to admit, I am a little crabby about PF. I donated awhile ago. My donation has never been confirmed, nor has my account been upgraded. Are we committed to this board?

the one sign there talks about the geological stuff of the park and how the great ice ages...yada yada yad...look it up in the THG...

yep back up on my list....moving higher and higher...

I tend to like the idea that the old curmudgeon is just joe soucheray again. It could have a dual meaning, but then again, it's only the 1st clue...

I was looking at that earlier Kitch.

I've been liking Mounds for a long time.

Also..... The writer of that little bit on Mounds a few weeks ago was from outdoor and leisure
Who else would know more about the parks?

Not sure on a park yet...... but the ice/frozen water stuff is bugging me.... maybe it has something to do with that its in, rather than where its at.... like, one of those bags that ice comes in... is it Penguin?? or somethin like that... i know theres more brands.. but yeah.. one of those.... or possibly a water-bottle.... and their just figuring that since its outside in the snow the water would be frozen....

Hey SnowJester I like your thinking. I really like a park by the river this year, initially I was thinking Hidden Falls, but now I'm thinking white Christmas, starring Bing Crosby = Crosby Farm...

Before last year a lot of people thought Phalen was out because of the Maplewood brewhaha and it was there, maybe the same is going to happen at Mounds this year.

just a couple of ideas that popped up

Ice - Ice fishing?  any particular places to do that which are better than others?  I need to call my step dad today - there was this place we used to pick up duck feed at when I was a kid.  Right near central park.  I remember there being rail road tracks infront of the place - and the building was an old Ice place where they would store / sell ice for fridges way back when.

Secondly - for some reason - and I can't logically splain it - but it's seeded in my brain - I get water tower out of the second clue - like it's a park next to - or you can see it from there - altho this would certainly be water that was not frozen...

Way to go gettin out into the parks mrmnmikey.  good pics

I like the idea of an ice like puck"ice has come to stay" new puck?? or in a ice mints box

i agree the main thing i get from clues so far is less likely to be a small park.

Green aldrich is by the YMCA where my kids have basketball games nice sledding hills

the "Ice" and then mention of water frozen is interesting

most likely we are over reading the clues.  but great noodeling going on

i'm trying to make some kind of connection or reference to barges

That may be a problem. When it comes to figuring out the clues, if you go into it with preconceived notions, the adage "Seek and you shall find" will certainly hold true. That is to say you can make the clues point to just about anything if you really want to. Unfortunately making the clues say what you want them to say won't help you find the medallion.

lake chic- nice thinking. and i like that it's near me. :) easy to hunt at. there's lots of paths there near the water.. along the water...

I'm gonna stick with my earlier noodle that it will be a park with flowing water in summer. Usually the first few clues are broad and obvious, and how obvious is "The water's quite frozen at this park we have chosen"? It's not saying anything specific about the puck, so I tend to think it's as simple as a lake/pond and walking or possibly CC skiing paths.

It's probably one of the furthest parks for me, but oh well, I tend to put a great deal of miles on my car at this time of year.

I really don't think the medallion is hidden in ice since ice is edible. Maybe it's in a box of rat poison. That's definitely inedible!

LOL AW. ice is edible... but i've seen a few noodles about it being in a bottle of frozen water. hmmm...  that's not really edible, but drinkable. Maybe it's a clue...

OK ... FYI:  I did not actually get wet in the frog pond ... it was a joke in responce to a comment by Scribe towards me.

Noodle:  I think your looking into this a little too deep.  The significance in the clues are as follows:

Clue #1 ... line one either means it JS or it is a play on JS, no other meaning.  line two and three play on last years doughnut and say its hidden in something and its not something you eat.  line four i believe scoot has a meaning, maybe scoot like motorcyle (i.e. park near Harly Davidson dealership) off I94 but could be anything

Clue #2 ... line one and two says nothing.  line three ice is key ... line one states that the clues were written in december and line three states that ice is frozen, this meanes either an assumption that it would be or that it WILL be, meaning ice rink, skating, or maybe an ice machine ... who knows, but i doubt its a lake, river or something natural.  line five is also key, telling us it has trails eliminating many small parks without trails.  it also uses the word time which may be a reference to a clock or something within sight.  second guess is a street name that would reference time somehow.

THEN AGAIN, MAYBE I AM THE NOODLE NUT!!!
