As far as the parade goes, I wasn't aware until this year that enkneebuddy could be in the parade (I think I read somewhere anyone can be in if they jump through the proper hoops at the proper time). I was always under the impression that we could only be in the parade if we were guests of like Mom Press.Â
So, given that... What if one person works on seeing we're an entity in the 2006 parade? Do the paperwork or whatever; keep The 'Crew informed, etc. (A side note... What I think would be ssssoooo Cooler would be a TON o'us in the parade with our digging tools - all wearing headlights! Wouldn't that be neat looking!!!)
And buttons... We've had buttons since 1998. We've just never had the need - or the funds - to buy a gazillion yet. But, I bet anyone could buy extra to handout when they're in the parade or out hunting or whatever. Prolly would just have to let Mom know.

That's just an option. The other option is membership dues. Or fundraisers. Or people just giving voluntarily. That's working out real well for PF. ;-)
IF this was to happen, I think we need this initial brainstorm session. And during brainstorming, no idea is a bad idea.
Some more ancient history... The 'Crew is not "carnival" as in Winter Carnival - we're not carnival like the Vulcans or King Boreas, that's what I mean. We came about because of The Hunt. That's our impetus. Lots o'us do other WC stuff/events, but The Cooler Crew's whole being is to be for, continue, and preserve the history of what's most important to us - The Hunt.
I think Ma's shot her wad on us, back when we got started. And I think in recent years Me2 has done some work in approaching them again on our behalf and was told (nicely?) to take a flying leap. I suppose it never hurts to try again, though.
well if we are going to have an OFFICIAL bar of the cooler crew - wouldnt if be beneficial to at least ASK if they wanted to chip in for buttons or what not??
we wouldnt be obligated to do anything out of the ordinary - heck most drank their share at GW this yr and RL the yr before!

I really don't want a sponsor either... But, on the other hand... A few Mr. and Ms. Got Rocks can't always be the ones forking over the bucks for buttons, movie tickets, etc. I don't know what the answer is to this. But I know that because we haven't gone non-profit and many of us have more moths in our pockets than coins, we haven't done things like buy tons of buttons for giving away. We've always just done what we can, as well as we can, with what we have.

Dark blue is fine by me - I am not a baby blue fan. The other night at GW we talked about getting stocking caps, baseball hats, and headbands with our logo - people would have the buy them. If you always wore one of them while hunting, we would be easily identifiable.
The Camo Crew gets RL to pay for a portion of their logowear by handing out drink coupons, etc. to get people into RL during the carnival. The Camo Crew is a small group. I don't know that we could get a bar to pay for 150 hats/headbands, but maybe give us a discount if we put their name on the back or side or we did something with coupons or fliers or promised so much in purchases over the first few days of the hunt. Maybe GW would be willing considering the dollars we spent there this year. I would love if they hung a banner saying "Home of the Cooler Crew"

in order to really accomplish any of this, we need some sort of formal organization. the imperial order of fire and brimstone goes back decades as a legally incorporated entity. that organizational structure is something that's been discussed over and over again, including this year. in the end, its an organizational structure that no one has really had the drive to go implement, to the point that our own definition of ourselves is a loose knit group of hunters.
I know I'm looking WAY ahead here but if next year we agree that GW is going to be our homebase and get more and more CC going there everynight , then we make sure to keep all of our reciepts we can show the owner of GW the next year how much we spent total and ask for a certain percentage of that (15-25%) to spend towards apparell the next year. Another possible idea to entice a sponser would be moving the PDG, and I know I'm going to get jumped on by traditionalists here, but let's face it: McGoverns hasn't been excactly great to us over the years. I did see somewhere in GW they had accomodations for groups of up to 200. Just throwing some ideas out there.
Since Kitch and WN and RR have the Kewler Krewe maybe I'll start the Hoe Beau's. We can dress like wino bums and run around with a garden hoe (or any other hoe for that matter) and get drunk. No pink tights for us though ; )

I was working on that , but my freind never called me back on it. I called her personal phone (she works in a sign shop) and she had me e-mail the logo to her and asked when I needed it. I told her as soon as possible (this was last friday) and I hav'nt heard nothing back at all. She has my e-mail and phone #..Not sure I want a sign from her now...should I still try?

I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!! I want to be the queen!!! Okay...I would sooo wear a cape, but only because I'm a dork. I'd actually like to be more bad ass, a cape might be corny. The idea of the logos and the buttons and all that other great stuff just has the graphic designer in me going nuts. I can just see all the stuff coming together and it RULES! ESD and I will have to play rock, paper, scissors for it though, since I know I'm not the only designer here.
Me2, I liked the logo you used on the scarves, the font was big and readable, I'm just not too crazy about the baby blue, as others have also said. I could definitely work up a series of logos that could be usable on various applications.
I would LOVE to have cool enamel pins like the Bouncing Team has. I am a big fan of button flair, and that would be sweet to give out in parades and stuff, but nice pins would be good for fundraising.
I would be more than happy to help on an organization committee. If one gets put together, count me in!

GW might not be agreeable to having a pay bar. They like the big tabs.
