Alright OTS, not a funny joke!
So I was talking about not having practice to slog and blah blah blah. The next morning someone from Comcast comes out and pulls the plug on our cable. We naturally think its just an outage because its so freekin cold. They give us the runaround on the phone all day, including making my gullible mom drive out to Inver Grove to get a new modem, even though I told her ours was fine. Anyways they finally make an opening for a tech to come out and he gets here today checks the line coming in and its unhooked. He plugs it in and I'm golden. Meanwhile, now I have to slog. Note to everyone that has cable: don't mess with OTS, he controls you!
Haha, just kidding OTS it was just a funny coincidence. Stupid Comcast.
At least your getting answers! I had someone out here wednesday and I'm still not hooked up and nobody seems to know what the hell the problem is! Apparently they have a "level 3 tech person" looking into it. What-Ever!
It's the national map, zoom in on our area, you can select from a ton of layers, anything from roads, political boundaries, and high res color satellite imagery.
You can bookmark on it too. Here's the satellite image of Ramsey County
it can run a little slow, depending on your connection (and level of patience). I think the satellite image is fairly recent (at least in the last year or two)
Heh.... thanks guys.. sorry, but i seriously doubt he was trying to make up with that post.... (I could be wrong, but I doubt it)... im sure he'll be along some time today/tonight and tell it like it is.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but apparently, there's no more noodling for several months.
"Noodling" is actually a term for a sport that's prevalent in Missouri (where there's actually a "noodler's anonymous") for catching catfish with your bear hands.
Â
I for one, have no desire to catch a catfish with my bear hands.
BTW, I'm creating a master parks list, so far I have 377 parks, rec centers, and open spaces listed on it. Pretty much everything in the entire county, including some little known spaces. One park in Saint Paul isn't even listed as park property in their own database, but I drive past it everyday, and it's most definately a saint paul park, at least all the signage is there.
I'm working on linking everything on the list to the national map I posted, plus mapquest and the city run websites for the parks. Should also have park amenities listed.
When I'm finished I'll try posting the file online so people can check it out and let me know if there's any changes needed.
KC0GRN, If you decide you want to... we can password protect that stuff just for the crew on cooler times. We can talk more after you get done working on it all and see if you are interested.
I forgot to put in the St. Paul parkway system. Technically they're part of the parks system, and public land, so they're free game (though I doubt the Medallion will ever end up on one, I'm just goin by the book).
I'll take that as a yes... I noticed they pur of a very good and natural light. I will have my LED head lantern too but the more area light the better. I plan to have a few nights of just digging this year.
Thats what I thought. I'm also looking at safe ways to heat up soup and such while I'm hunting. I don't want to drive home just to eat when I could be digging.
Model No. 5155A742 • Porcelainized ventilator won't rust • Unique stable base with retractable feet • Matchless lighting with easy-to-use InstaStart™ ignition • One cylinder of propane (not included) lasts up to 7 hours on high or 14 hours on low • Case opens into three sections for ease in loading lantern   $46.00 from Coleman...

that's about 300 more than Moriarty knows about !
Who's Moriarty?
377 is County wide. At least according to the various city websites and including the county parks.

Big G is doing window clings, and I'm assuming Mom is doing buttons like she always does.
Hey Ian, bet ya didn't know there's both a robinhood and a sherwood park in Maplewood, pretty close together even.

KC0GRN, If you decide you want to... we can password protect that stuff just for the crew on cooler times. We can talk more after you get done working on it all and see if you are interested.
But I saw a link with a bunch of shirts and other stuff I was wondering what that was all about.
Kitch set that up. You can buy items with a cooler crew logo that someone created. I'm not sure who. Perhaps ESD?
[Edited by on Jan 15, 2005 at 07:29pm.]
Think that was KC0GRN....
Hey who is selling the stuff for the cooler crew?Â
nah, I didn't have anything to do with that either. I'm sure if Kitch were here he'd be yellin about it. (Oops, nevermind there he is)
Sorry, I have no idea who puts this stuff in everybody's heads, I'm really a slacker myself :)

Kitch... I swear I was going to ask ESD to make you bubbles for your beer... and there they are lol... thats GREAT!
Also... sorry.... credit to Kitch and ESD for the store stuff.... I was clueless myself....
yup, that'd be me too OTS
you guys crack me up
Ok.. so heres the question... Should I buy a Coleman gas lantern?
heh...just looking at those....
I'll take that as a yes... I noticed they pur of a very good and natural light. I will have my LED head lantern too but the more area light the better. I plan to have a few nights of just digging this year.
I'm thinkin' since I really can't hunt in the day.....I think I need it....
I normally use a headlamp...but I'm figuring....why not light the entire area up instead...
Thats what I thought. I'm also looking at safe ways to heat up soup and such while I'm hunting. I don't want to drive home just to eat when I could be digging.
