Ive decided instead of a dog that I want one or two of those little monkeys!!! Becks and I walked through there before caching and I didn't wanna leave with out one. And those star light fixtures in the conservatory have got to be my alltime favorite fixtures next to the giraffe fixtures on the zoo building and on the schmidt brewery (Landmark) entrance. Ive got pix of all those fixtures around here somewhere - Im also visiting a Cass Gilbert house on Summit Ave in May that has one in it's foyer! You did a wonderful job capturing the ultimate beauty of those 2 statues. However, I am bumbed that you showed us the sloth, now I know what he looks like because I thought I was looking for something more like these:

ok, just had to share. So I took the girls to get their yearly eye check. We have always gone to the Midway Pearl Vision - this time around it was quite odd. I told them what insurance I had and then they asked if it was Minnesota Care (as if I were on welfare)...

then when we went in they asked something about if I worked and was the insurance through my work and something about last names that sounded fishy as if I was a single parent with 2 kids. I can't recal the wording but I thought it quite an odd question -- but considering the welfare/insurance comment over the phone that maybe considering the neighborhood they are in that they maybe deal with ALOT of single women on welfare.

So they want me to update a file for Sarah - here is part of the form they gave me to fill out!!! I laughed because it fit right in with the previous questions of welfare and now Im feeling that everyone who comes in to get glasses must be poor and on some sort of drugs.

I guess I always thought medications and prescriptions were the same thing - so the question to me looks like they are asking which prescriptions and drugs are you taking. I woulda answered: yes and Heroin - just to see the look on their faces but, because of the sensitivity of the area of town we were in I didn't want to have cops called. :eyeroll: :goofy: :eek: :chagrin:

also, some drugs can have a reaction with the drops they put in your eyes for the glaucoma (sp?) screening.

I filled out something close to that at my eyedoc too - it's pretty much a standard consent to treat form.

Also, certain diseases (like diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke) can affect your vision. which would explain the medical history part.

Just make sure they don't show you the bill before you get your eye exam :worried: :worried: :worried:

I don't think your eyes ever quite recover from that.

Also, they asked about your insurance because generally speaking most work insurance doesn't offer vision.

asking health history and what prescriptions Im taking and what insurance I have is no biggy. Its asking if I take drugs and if Im on Minnesota Care when I hand them a Health Parners card and if I work as I hand it to them and such that made me feel poor and offended even though I have NOTHING against anyone on welfare or the poor - been there done that - Im middle class now baybee and I pay for it! believe me, I pay for it! 0% co-pays/100% out of pocket to prove it! :eek: :chagrin: :lipsealed:

I think it's just a poorly worded questionaire.

funny (well at the time it wasn't) story.

When I got arrested a couple years ago, when they were booking me, they asked me what drugs I was on. I told them that earlier that day I had taken 400 mg of Ibprofin for my lower back, and 1000 mg of vitamin C.

After the sherriff who was doing my intake stopped laughing, and telling the 4 other sherriffs around her - how stupid I was, she explained that she meant NARCOTICS.
