Brian has about 5 minutes on a special airing on tpt channel 2 next Sunday, October 4th. He saw the preview on Wednesday and said he wished they would have got him saying something a bit more intelligent. He's always his worst critic.
Anyway, the special is called Minnesota's National Park Legacy and is a meant as a companion piece to Ken Burns' National Parks: America's Best Idea. That plays during this week and again next Sunday. There are three parts to that.
Locally here, the showing of the Ken Burns pieces starts at noon next Sunday for 5 1/2 hours followed by the Minnesota companion piece that Brian is in from 6:30 to 7pm.
I believe I know what I'll be doing next Sunday afternoon.
I'm Brian Valentine, a National Park Service Ranger here in the Twin Cities. Just wanted to say "hello!" and say thanks for organizing such a fun event.
Coincidentally, we've also scheduled a Geocaching, snowshoeing, and winter survival event for our Junior Ranger Program the same day at Crosby from 2-4pm at the shelter and fire pit, so I'm excited for them to see the larger Geocaching community.
On a side note, I think my folks were part of the Cooler Crew several years ago. They often mention a "Pre-Dig" part at Pat McGoverns or another place in downtown. Not sure if you've ever met though.
Thanks for your caches too. I recently went looking for one on Hwy 12 near Kerkhoven, MN.
Too funny. I told him we knew you. Kerkhoven is where my father-in-law lives. We were out there last Sunday to celebrate Christmas with that side of the family. He took Inks out to find the geocache in town there, but because they weren't really dressed for it, and the snow was so deep, they didn't actually get to it.
He and his wife are getting into the treasure hunt. For Brian it's a renewed interest. For his wife, who is from Grand Marais, she was loving it all last year. I will see if I can get them to the PDG. I think my daughter will be there, but haven't gotten the promise yet.
I should also mention that I asked him if he's found many of yours and he said you have them all over. He was showing my niece and her husband geocache locations on his phone and they seemed intrigued as there are a number of them around where they live in Glenwood.
Thought I would follow Eags' lead and update peeps on what is going on in my life.
The most exciting news is my son and his wife are expecting our first grandchild early in March!!!! We are looking forward to finding out the gender and what name they finally settle on. They have been taking baby classes and my goofy son has been practicing swaddling on some stuffed animal he has. Funny stuff.
We sold our place up north this last fall and are using the proceeds to have our kitchen and bath remodeled and converting what was a 3-season porch to a year round sunroom. We have found a wonderful contractor who has been so easy to work with and has gone out of his way to find solutions for a couple of odd things. It's a mess around here, but we're grateful we have a second bathroom as our main one has not been usable for a couple weeks. The inside work should be done about the time the grandchild arrives. There will be some additional outside work once the frost leaves the ground so we're hopeful for an early spring. Just keeping our sights on the grand prize when its all done.
After a fall and winter of having some foundation work on the porch done and having a dumpster parked in the back yard since January, we are anticipating some work on the yard needing to happen this summer.
Watermellon must be the only fruit. you were right OT.

Made her momma cry. She was such a $hIt when she was a teenager - and has grown up to be such a super woman.
you are so lucky to get that
I get goosebumps everytime I hear that song
its such a beautiful way to tell someone how much they mean to them
and even better that she sent it "just because" and that she couldn't wait 10 days to send it

I don't envy the construction however, you will LOVE LOVE the end result - enjoy!
