terryv will get access when she makes it over here.
Anyway...
ares, how's your backup of the PF site?
Is Mark going to recreate the database here or are we on our own archiving it?
but he is considering moving stuff from HERE..to wherever he choses as his final resting spot for this new forum.
Meaning, only having a couple discussions in say "In the news" or "Wampeters..."?
We can discuss what to have, not to have.
but personally I think we are ripping off mark is we don't break it up a bit with others hosting folders.....we could put it all under one...but geez.....
IMHO...I think best option would be
CCRC main discussion point...
folders under that...
I can't think of anything else...
on hold until pf's database repack finishes. however, i did get everything over at pf (except, perhaps that last joe), except possibly for invite-only thread posts since i think the 6th. it seems the cookies aren't working right on the system at home. hopefully, however, mark will get everything back up, it'll be fast, and i can do a full snap of it from work one last time.
btw, i also don't think we need to worry about pulling everything in over here if mark gives us the option to. i'll be able to have the stuff dumped into a database, and some php scripts running to generate pages before the hunt rolls around.
I agree, but I also plan on continuing my $20 a month, so he's won't be getting ripped off as far as if we have a bunch of folders in here. I just want to keep it better organized this time around. I need to figure out how to prevent people other than us hosts from creating folders/discussions. I know you could do it at PF, but I don't recall seeing that option here.
that'll be huge in keeping the structure more under control.
I don't think so.
Kitch and I were having a side conversation about this very issue just a few minutes ago.
I think if you come here, you should contribute, at least financially.
No free lurking if you ask me.
That being said, if we do that, we'll have to cut down on the chitter chatter in the clue discussion thread.
It's not fair to make people pay to read us shoot the shit.
This would also mean no more invite only thread for clue discussion. It wouldn't be fair to charge them, then lock them out.
Those are my thoughts anyway.
should be easy to do...since Mark won't want people crating folders unless paying for it!!!
Are we gonna be charged for each folder, or just the main folder?
good point.
Are we gonna be charged for each folder, or just the main folder?
i gathered only the main folder, but its something we should look into.
...I'm all game with allowing anybody that pays...since it will elimate trouble as it is...
We can offer threads for lurkers only...basically telling them if they becoming paying members there is a lot of threads that are blocked that they will have access 2....
In order for Mark to be successful and "us" to have a new home (that could be longterm)...we need to treat Mark with respect and almost help his biz grow....
With that being said...we really need to let them understand our traffic as they might get a little 2 excited in Jan/Feb and pay for all kinds of bells and whistles ...only to find out that new memberships would fall off FAST in March.
I just wonder what to do about things like the "coolerhead threads". It would be nice to keep them all centrally located, but like Kitch said, if you want a folder maybe you should pay for it yourself and we just provide a link.
It would help bring in the money.
or...
we could link them like they do here
those are links to other folders on the bottom...
That's a great idea. Not exactly the private thread we enjoyed before, but I think most will agree to it.

I don't think Mark will care. He'll have his $10.00 by then. If they're only here a month so be it.
---------------------------------
Before I forget, this is something really important that we need to address and make clear.
Just because you pay, doesn't mean you get to post/act any way you wish.
Jake and the countless others come to mind (although at this point I would allow Jake access. He's been much better than in the past).
We let them know that we have a group of admins that make the final call. So if you misbehave, you lose access and your $10 fee is wasted.
Well, I was thinking about how it was before and having to do access lists. It was really getting to be a pain updating access lists in a dozen folders when we would have a trouble maker.
That won't be an issue now and if there is a troublemaker, the folder owner can take care of it.
could get spendy for somebody...

man, i was thinking the exact same thing. the next question, of course, (and if i read more around the site, i'd probably find an answer to), is does one have to pay in order to register? or just pay to post as a registered user?
but I know he will create a new "user" title for payers...
would it be at all out of line to take, as hunts end in the future, and archive the thread as a "static" page as i'm doing with pf's threads, and then link them back here?
and how much do you think mark would charge us for a virtual host name pointed here?
I guess the deciding factor would be cost.
the cost of pointing forum.coolercrew.com here and have it automatically point to the camp folder? that's what i'd be curious about too. i could point the name to the site easily, but the important thing would be the redirection to our root folder.
one of the cool features of a plugin on this software is that...
you can "freeze" a folder or discussion rather then "close" it....
(can't do it yet)
:: working on our own theme for the place. checking out what all controls what pieces of the page ::
How do you get rid of the edit line below. I can't find it in the discussion preferences.
I like the "who's here" on the side like you're doing in the test folder.
I don't like it either.
It sucks :eyeroll:
Yeah, cuz you can't edit posts without people knowing.
So now I can't say "I like Pink Fairies" in all of Kitch's posts like I used to at PF.
One cool thing is, we could just keep editing the same post over and over again and then we can say to Mark: "What the hell do you mean $19.99 + $9.99 a year? We've only got one post!
geez...how many pink fairies do i have over their anyways??
Just a couple....hundred.
Just kidding. I always let you know when I did it. It's no fun if you don't know about it.
Some of us wish you would edit some of your psosts.
Here, I'll bend over and you can edit my psosts.
Even if her's don't look/work all that great...could have a cool look to it if set up right.
