Ian Stevens, or “King Boreas,” had participated in the annual hunt for the St. Paul Winter Carnival medallion for years before he heard about geocaching. Now he’s one of the more prolific geocachers in the state.
“The thing I liked about geocaching is I could do it every day,” says Stevens, 55, of Columbia Heights. “I’d never really traveled much around Minnesota before — that’s changed a lot in the last 10 years.”
Oh I'm glad I found one of yours anyway. Just too bad that I find caches all the time during hunts but it looks like I haven't officially logged them on the site since '08.
I now have the cgeo app I installed during the last hunt so I'm guessing I'll be getting back into it much more in the future. Starting on the 3rd with AW's hunt. The clues get me to the park and the app lets me find something fun anyway.
After *thinking* about getting started with geocaching for YEARS, yes literally years.....took the family and dog out for a walk, and decided to try this one close to home this afternoon. Using only the iphone app so far, but we got it! First find EVER. Yay us.

Having found many caches, this should have been no trouble. Alas, it was.
Was it really THAT long ago already? THIS is the year for sure that I actually get out there....my kids are big enough now that I don't HAVE to bring them along and try to make it "fun". They can come with if they want, and if they don't they can stay back - Hurumph!
Next winter, I will take something up, snowshoeing, or winter caching or paragliding. Or maybe I will just get the hell out of here and rent a place on Sanibel Island!

Congratulations!!!!
Winter Carnival Geocaching: If finding the medallion seems
like a long shot, here's a treasure hunt where everyone's a winner.
Use your hand-held GPS receiver to track down containers hidden in
parks around Saint Paul. Each "geocache" contains trinkets and
Winter Carnival souvenirs.
drawing for a prize.
Entry forms are available at Rice Park, beginning the afternoon of January 26, 2012.
Entries are NOT available online.
Each cache contains a "code" which you need to enter the 2nd Winter
Carnival Challenge .
The code is one letter, on the bottom of the cache container.
Please record the code on your entry form.
Cooler Crew Cachers feel strongly that winters are here to
stay in Minnesota. We feel that the citizens of Saint Paul and
neighboring communities should take advantage of this situation by
participating in the winter activities that are available in our
communities. Rather than hide from winter, people should go out and
have fun in it. We encourage everyone to live by the Cooler Crew
Cachers credo:
HIBERNATE...CELEBRATE

Twisted?
It couldn't be published because there is another cache nearby. It's a puzzle, which I didn't know the final was in that area.
