I haven't been to the range in a long time. The one I used to go to got shutdown because some high buck homes went in and the neighbors of course filed a suit, even though it was there since 1947 and the way it was bermed and desgined there was no threat to anyone. The club couldn't afford to fight it so we have to sell the land. Any pig farmers looking for land ? Trucking firms ? Masonary grinders ? Let me know, we have a piece we'll sell real cheap ;)
The judge that got the complaint put a cease and desist order on the club without ever setting foot on the place. The guy who lived next door to it loved it and he wasn't a member nor a gun owner even. He had a nice view and there wasn't alot of members and the way it was setup the noise wasn't an issue. He sent a letter for our side, no dice. The judge made it pretty clear how it would go. I wasn't involved in all of the proceedings but essentially it would have cost us 1,500 a piece just to fight the cease and desist and fight it, all the while with the cease and desist order we would have o put money into something we couldn't use with no guarantee of winning. Nobody could really afford it and the lawyer they hired didn't think we had a good chance of winning because of the climate. It's like moving next to the airport and complaining about the noise.
They did, and the NRA did offer to help but the lawyers the neighbors hired was very good and the judge didn't appear to friendly to the case considering her cease and desist without ever seeing it. So the lawywer the club had wasn't very optomistic about the outcome. The 1,500 a peice was after the NRA legal fund kicked in. So we had 1,500 tied up and a club that couldn't be used for years because the case would have gone on for a long time, plus it probably would have taken more money to put into defending it down the road. So they took a vote and wieighing the options decided to sell the land and disband. It's a shame but the chances of winning were low and people were looking at spending alot of money on something they didn't feel they would win.
The strange correllary is: The more free you are to do what you want, the more worried and defensive you get.
Look at city life. They tell us which side of the street we can park on which day. OK, we go along. People line up, placid as a Hindu's cow, at ramp meters.
Move to rural Stearns County, where you can park just about anywhere you want and live pretty much as you choose, and people are forming militias. Go to Idaho and you find people who are even more worried.
Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did, and it never will. Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress. -- Frederick Douglass, August 4, 1857
I don't have Mr. Douglass's eloquence. Nor does my examples demand it.
I don't have to struggle through the injustices or endure those wrongs. We can submit to petty regulation without the consequences.
His remarks are a reminder of how easy life is for all of us. We have a pretty cushy berth.

Was Adams right? Seems there's a lot of politics and war being studied.
I can't tell you how many times I've put on my work badge on the weekend.
hey, i always wear mine on the weekends. its a habitual thing. if i always put it on, even on saturday and sunday, i never have to worry about not putting it on come monday morning.
You wouldn't grade it. It wasn't an answer to any question. Maybe you could dock me a point or two for a typo but that won't work with you, crabs. You can't blame typos for all your mistakes.

Pizza man saved by gun, but fired for packin' heat
Prosecutors call it 'clear case of self-defense,' yet national chain prohibits carrying firearms
June 1, 2004 WorldNetDaily.com  Â
A pizza deliveryman won't face charges for fatally shooting a would-be robber several times when he was approached in a high-crime area, but his employer, Pizza Hut, has fired him for violating a company policy against carrying firearms.
Ronald B. Honeycutt, 38, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, says he's been delivering pizzas for 20 years and has always packed heat on the job.
According to a report in the Indianapolis Star, prosecutors announced Friday the Carmel, Ind., man will not face criminal charges.
"It's a clear case of self-defense," Deputy Prosecutor Barb Crawford said. "He did what the law allows him to do to protect himself."
Jerome Brown-Dancler approached Honeycutt at around 11 p.m. on May 17 just after he had made a pizza delivery in Indianapolis. According to the report, Brown-Dancler pointed a 9 mm handgun at the Pizza Hut employee as he was entering his van.

That exact same thing happend to us about 7 or 8 years ago, Rob. We all chipped in 50 bucks for legal fees. We won.

L2F call the NRA they will help you out.

It still wouldn't be enough for you.

Didn't say that at all.
The more free you are to do what you want, the more worried and defensive you get.
And the above has been proven?
It's a personal observation.
Don't you think it is just a tab bit overbroad?

The more you have (freedom) the more worried you become is correct.
Because there is always someone who wants to take it away.
And they usually do it by chipping it away a pebble at a time.
We have a pretty cushy berth.
Speak for yourself.
yes indeed.

He must have issues with deer hunters then.
What I don't think he under stands is criminals would still be armed.
As well as the gov't. Wasn't that the reason for the second ammendment?
Your teacher would probably think a .22 chipmunk rifle is a sniper rifle.

FWIW: If Crabby were a professor, I don't think he'd give someone a bad grade simply because he didn't agree with their politics.
I thin he would.
I'd give them a lower grade for agreeing with me.
I'd give them a lower grade for agreeing with me.
That is what one deserves when they get things wrong.
so, how do you grade an answer like this?
You wouldn't grade it. It wasn't an answer to any question. Maybe you could dock me a point or two for a typo but that won't work with you, crabs. You can't blame typos for all your mistakes.
I wasn't talking about the typo...I was talking about the fact that it was a wrong guess.
no. it was right on.
so, you want an "A" for claiming that you know what I would do more than I know what I would do?
gee bodine, you are nevergonna graduate at this rate.
jethro bodine 5/24/04 1:12pm
You don't actually expect crabs to give a straight answer do you?
I already did.
You don't actually expect crabs to give a straight answer do you?
It is hard to give a straight answer when you aren't able to comprehend the question.
jethro bodine 5/24/04 2:12pm
LOL
alrightythen
you are a very confused individual, crabs. you ought to give some thought that maybe your drug intake has had something to do with it.
all this caffiene?
perhaps.
I AMconfused as to why I bother talking to you when you already have decided what I think regardless of what I actually think.
you, however, might want to cut back on your drug intake....that opiate known as Religion.
It's easy, crabs. Everyone here already knows that the only way you can give a response is to dodge the question about 99.4% of the time.
That's how you "think".
