Would you know if you worked for another federal employer if you would get preferential hiring treatment? Just keeping my options open for when my ETS comes up in 2008... I already can claim Veterans preference, but if I could "transfer" from where I am now to somewhere else within the federal system it would be pretty cool. (And I may get to keep my pay rate for like a year to 'adjust')
We are going out to the vineyard to meet up with the vineyard crew - they are making carnitas! mmmm! and we are doing pot luck stuff to go with it. My mexican cellar crew makes some of the best homemade pozole, and tamales, and salsa - I am in heaven!
My whole neighborhood will shut down for a street fair and celebration too. In the past there have been lots of problems, but b/c of the legislature - the mexican leaders have been working with law enforcement this year to try to make a safe, fun family oriented festival without shootings/knivings and alcohol.
Typically there are helicopters and police chases and gang fights - crossing my fingers for this year.
speaking of festivals.... the Festival of Nations started today.... I think I might go in a bit, here... I try to go every year.... last year was the first time I attended alone.... not fun :frown: its good to have someone there, to experience that stuff with.
I really liked the whole place, actually, it's very pretty and quite arid in terms of climate. The only thing I had an issue with is geographically it's very skinny - because of the vineyards. San Fransisco is beautiful, too. If Cluey ever admits that he's attracted to me we'll move there.
I enjoyed going to the Charles Schultz museum a lot - they gave me a private tour after hours since the place was closing and me and Sparky are homeboys. I'd seen a lot of it though because the Peanuts on parade statues are all over there!!
If Cluey ever admits that he's attracted to me we'll move there
HA! You just need to be hunting with me anytime after 1am during the hunt. I'm attracted to everyone at that time. Especially after clue #6 or #7.
geographically it's very skinny
Unfortunately, we're not. So I don't see the welcoming wagon for a couple of sexy guys like ourselves. :sheepish: :frown:
I think you need 2 years in for your first raise --- at least that's the way it was when I was hired. After that the step increases go quickly. I've been there only 9 years and I'm 1 step away from the last step increase. Plus we usually get % increases every new contract and COLA adjustments.
The 60K people usually are on the overtime desired list.
Hey Zeph..... ex-military and veterans get extra points added to their test scores and get preference for hiring if you or any of your buddies are interested. Plus it's Federal Retirement System so your military time gets added to your seniority date.
greetings from duluth. tc and i have been up here all day. my grandma had a heart attack. she's doing good so far. they don't expect she'll be able to go home until at least monday, so please pray for her.
Today was Brenda's graduation ceremony. Over 700 graduates making it the largest in Augsburg history. It wasn't an easy road for her so we're especially proud that she made it.
Tomorrow is the open house and after that I hope my life gets back to normal - whatever that is - it's been too long getting ready for all this.
Looks like tomorrow is going to be a very nice spring day so the bazillion people coming through here will be able to mingle outdoors some too. Yippeee!
:: wonders how long it will take od to figure out how to mount it to one of his guns ::

Holy Crap! I want to go to that festival....
joeNickI was thinking about taping a giant smiley face to the top of my explorer for when the helicopter (it's named Dewey) goes over.
I think he enjoyed Healdsburg more than Santa Rosa tho... it's much prettier where I work, than the town in which I live.

that's cause it's a bunch of valleys - Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley - both which have 10-15 smaller valleys within their hills as well.
For instance - Napa Valley, at it's widest is only 2.75 (I think - it's under 3) miles wide.
I think Sonoma is only a little wider.
here all this time I thought we had something SPECIAL
