Joe Cramer's secret to maintaining sanity
Hello,
My name is Joe Cramer and I am also known as the "Wyoming Riddler." I've written a book called, "Joe's Story: The Book of a Lifetime." I am introducing myself because of the many new visitors to this blog. Welcome! I'm glad you are here. You've picked the day I chose to explain a way that helps me maintain my sanity in a sometimes silly world. Comics! The comic section in the daily newspaper. They help us laugh at ourselves. In the face of our everyday problems and personal quirks the comics let us know that perhaps we take ourselves a bit too seriously at times. I need that reminder.
The family circus: How our children can spread light on almost everything. The world is new to them. We remember our own fascination with the littlest detail.
Peanuts: Some of us get picked on but we survive anyway. The world is filled with people from cute to bossy to dirty and there is nothing like the dog to humble the self absorbed.
Dennis: Yeah, he is a bit naughty but still lovable isn't he? Make us love our own little kids even more.
Baby Blues: The interaction between Dad, Mom and the kids is almost completely believable. Lampooning so many of our parenting skills. Makes us look pretty good and forget our mistakes.
B.C.: A surprise in every frame. You can't read it without thinking about the lesson can you?
Get Fuzzy: A constant barrage of semi political banter that knocks everything from soup to nuts and animals and people.
Garfield: Perfect portrayal of how some of us aren't quite the mainstream when it comes to our grasp of life and love including how to dress.
Hi and Lois: They've been with us a long time and the kids never grew up. We used to read it when we had kids, now we have grand kids and watch our kids deal with them. Helps us realize what it would be if our own really didn't grow up.
Curtis: One of my personal favorites. This kid and his little brother get into such situations and their folks handle them. His folks are saints. Lets us know that parents are really smart. I like that.
Hagar The Horrible: Now this is a real guy's read. This big, macho, provider is lost and confused, just like so many of us guys. Working hard to earn a living and going to the bar to find understanding while his wife sits home waiting. He's clueless when it comes to her needs. A lot of us are like that.
Pickles: A classic look into the lives of older people that have spent the better part of their lives together. Believing that they can guess one another's every move and the surprise that follows the discovery that they really don't know what the other is going to do.
With reading those colorful inserts every day I match them up with the real life situations on the other pages. I choose to read them last. Leaving the paper in a clump while I leave laughing. One more day of sanity..............Love them or leave them The comics are here, begging for your laughter. I do believe this is going to be a great and wonderful day. I already know how to laugh...........Joe
