Was supposed to have an online auction at the same time as the regular auction...we kept asking why nothing was catalogged yet (now 2 days before open house) only to find out he's backing out of the online part (even though contract says online and live) and nothing is catalogged yet. He didnt even advertise any of the collectable toy tractors (we have a lot of them new in boxes) and nothing is online. Penny went out there today after getting a run around on all the questions we have, and basically told they will only do a live auction and not catalog anything...pisses me off!        I think we should "re-negotiate" his fee!! Anyone know a lawyer????
Wow, sounds like breech of contract to me. Too bad there isn't more time so you could reschedule. Pull those tractors and other small items and sell them yourself on Ebay.
man mikey! that bites! wow. I agree with everyone else. Cancel the whole thing. If he can't get you the best price cause he is doing half the work than he breeched his contract.
Soooooo, late night storm about 1 1/2 weeks ago.... think it was August 12th ish ....
knocked out power and cable over here .... reset my neighbors main breaker. It knocked my washer and dryer circuts that I reset and an outlet in the kitchen has NO power going to it at all (all breakers have been reset).
2 things happened that I need advice on:
Daughter was driving the van that night and ended up in deep water on highway 36. She drove through it but the SERVICE ENGINE NOW light came on...she parked it in the drive way.
When I put it in to drive or reverse, it won't budge, tires try to move but stands still. Feels like the emergency break is on. Anyone have an idea?
From the power problem, I think a surge hit both my neighbors house and mine... My fridge started not keeping things cool and ice cream was melting, freezer felt like the fridge. The motor feels like it's heating up too hot behind the plastic walls of the fridge.
Anyone have a really good guy or use a service that YOU like - that can take a look?
Anyone know where I can bring a screen to be re-screened? I have 2 (I even have the screening material).
I need the top rack to my dishwasher replaced. Anyone know the name of the place in Inver Grove Heights that sells appliance parts?
I wish there was something I could do to prove Excel responsible :frown: but it's not like they can control the lightning
I do have homeowners insurance but don't think it replaces appliances even if electrical. huh.
Things are falling apart and I'm quite overwhelmed.
0) check that the kitchen outlet isn't a ground fault interrupter that needs to be reset
1) there's an engine code somewhere. if i remember right its a chrysler van, if not this doesn't apply. put the key in the ignition and turn it to the off (not lock) position. without going to start, turn it to on, off, on, off, on. the codes will read out on the odometer, and they start with p. share them with us; i've got the repair manual and can tell you what's wrong with it.
2) we have minnegasco's hsp repair plan; sounds like your fridge is having the same problem ours did; buy a new one.
3) pretty much any hardware store should be able to do it. we always used the one on payne and maryland on the east side.
4) let me track that place down and contact you offline about this one.
I went out and checked the van.... no codes come up...but the service engine sign is gone too
still doesn't move from it's spot in the driveway. gggrrrrrr
I'm wondering if I can hold out for 4 weeks on the service plan for the fridge. maybe eat out of a cooler. I don't have ANY $ for a fridge. I had called my Excel Energy plan and I have ALL my appliances covered EXCEPT the fridge!!! wth! don't know how that happened. unbelievable.
check the fan thats inside the wall to the fridge/freezer section. SAhould be access through a plate with screw holes. If the fan is frozen, try unthawing the freezer by unplugging for a while to thaw out and retry. If the fan don't blow and its not frozen, you need a new fan. Plug and play from Dey Appliance. http://www.deyparts.net/
If not the fan you may have lost charge on it and that will cost considerably more.(This is unlikey)
Check behind the back wall and see if the heater back there is warm all the time. It could be a timer stuck in defrost mode also. (most probable according to your description) Thats a cheap fix and easy to do. If it don't move (very slowly) toss it and buy a new one. More than likely its the timer or fan. Sorry I'm out of town and can't help anymore. http://www.ehow.com/how_4504020_test-refrigerator-defrost-timer.html
I had a 4 page letter ready to demand to renegotiate the contrac when Penny got home and showed me the contract she signed. No mention of an online auction!!! We talked about it but she signed without it being in writing... :crying: We are just going ahead with the auction because it's too late in the game now to change. We may get less, but at least the stuff will be sold. Then I'll file a better buisiness bereau complaint after the auction. Technically he didnt break the contract, but he did break the "verbal" contract. He still has a week to make good on the organizing for the sale on the 21st.
I think they typical market for that stuff is farmers and collectors. They will most likely only want to bid in person, since most don't use computers in the first place.
If the printed ads go out in local papers, you will have a very large crowd there. Isn't there a clause you can exercise to withhold an item if it doesn't attract a large enough bid?
I think you will be surprised at what people pay for things in an auction. I saw pillows go for more than they sell new.
fan works fine in fridge and freezer. we cleaned out the vent by the coils in front of the fridge...it was covered in dust. However this morning the fridge and freezer are still only cooling a little.
I am gonna need help pulling the fridge out I guess.
It's tucked in too much for just me.
Most of the food in the fridge is gonna have to get tossed at this point.
My creamer is still good for a cup of Joe though this morning.
Sorry I didn't read this earlier, I would have suggested an old school technique of going to someplace to buy some dry ice to toss in your freezer to keep things cold until you got it repaired.
Another interesting tidbit. I once saw someone actually convert a chest freezer into a fridge. The idea being cold air spills out of a fridge making it work harder once you close the door to regain a colder temp. A chest freezer keeps the cold air in even when you open the top, so naturally it works better at keeping a constant temp.
I only had to toss about $50 in food (meat and eggs kinda stuff).
cleaned the coils under the front of the fridge with a vacuum and it seems to be cooling again after 2 days - but I'm bewaring. I have little faith in some things lately.
Have you guys enjoyed the antique tractors at the Great Minnesota Get-Together? They are way fun. DDY and I would always go check them out. He knew his tractors. Until he showed me the light I thought all tractors were dumb and stupid modern bemoths. There is sssssooooo much history with the old ones.
Yours look really really nice. I would think you'll get a pretty penny for them. The guys at the State Fair paid small fortunes for rusted heaps they fixed up. If you have time, it might be worth your while to take some pics - and the YouTube vid - to Machinery Hill and see if anyone wants to buy them. At the very least you could tell them about the auction. There are some SERIOUS tractor junkies there!
That Rumely oil pull in the background belongs to her Dad and Don (Guy in pic) helped get it running and ran it for the show all weekend. He helped us start about 10 tractors for the auction. Great guy! Her Dad had great friends!
There is a division of Fine Art also which is separate from all the other buildings... maybe check that out...
