Looking for something to do today?

The Ramsey County Fair got hit kinda hard yesterday with the storms.. Saturday one of our most busiest days - turned out to be one of the worst days this year.

How can you help? Come visit the fair today! Hours are 12noon to 9pm.

There is music at 1pm to 3 then the Talent Show at 5pm.. lots of food, rides, and exhibits to see. Admission is free, parking is just $2 (unless you park on a side street).

This is the 97th year of the fair and we are trying hard to stay alive for the 100th Anniversary in three more years. Any support you can show is appreciated!

Thank you to everyone who has commented with special thoughts advice or humor. Everything helps. I don't have the time to personally address each of your nice posts but will try and do so soon. Lots going on from minute to minute. Like my summer wasn't totally booked already without this bs being tossed into the mix. I think I've replied to everyone who sent an e-mail or text. Just trying to get caught up with FB and here. My mind feels as if it's on overload. Which helps in a way since it takes it away from any physical pain that's still lingering. Living as much as I can until the 5th. After that who knows. I wanna take Ali on a trip to Seattle and Vancouver as soon as I can. Try to get some things accomplished before the shit may or may not hit the fan.

Thanks again for the overwhelming response you wonderful people. I love each and every one of you compassionate friends.

It's also not relevant to him b/c he's going to live. No bucket list for that guy, he's going to be stuck in the mud living through good times and bad like the rest of us. There is simply too much love in the world and positive energy for that man for any other scenario to be permitted. It just won't happen any other way.

Besides, Chemo will be good for him. He looks funny with a mullet.

its relevant to all of us (well except for those of us who are dieties and will live forever  ). cuz damn, there are too many people out there who don't live like that and end up as old geezers saying "i wish i would have..."

and besides, you know what they say. a friend is someone who will bail you out of jail. your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell sayin "that was f**king awesome!"

Eh. My Master, you are a very handsome dude. Personally, I have liked your short hair better. BUT...

More sweet, sexy, good lookin' than your mane is the genuine smile on your face that lights the twinkle in your eyes. Your eyes are truly the window to your soul. I know - you can't look a person in the eye and fib.

So your hair takes a vacay. Big deal. It will come back. And in the meantime you have your infectious smile and happy eye glimmer to fall back on. Which really is the heart and soul of who you are.

I know a guy that beat this. Not well, I worked with him at GE. Not much was said about extent and all, but I know the surgery was extensive. Folks at work sure whispered icky things. But he came back. Did take awhile, it's hard on the body, but he beat it. Last I heard he was approaching the BiG Five Year Marker at full speed and with flying colors.

A good friend of mine back in the 70s -THE 70s!!!!! - her husband beat it. Last I spoke with her he had surpassed his 20-year clean check.

Just keep praying, keep being optimistic/positive. Keep fighting. Any strength I can loan, it's yours.

Do what you need to do to help you and Ali. Hugs to you.

One of my mother's best friends wasy dying in the hospital with endocarditis. This is also about a little less than 30 years ago.

The woman was deathly allergic to penicillin and at the time that was all that was know to treat endocarditis. Slowly they began trying to desensitizer to the penicillan, while at the same time keep her alive.

They called her husband in to be with her as things were not looking good. He spent quite a few nights in her hospital room... Mikey was not expected to make it.

Well.

It worked. The penicillin thighy. Not only did Mikey live, but her endocarditis was cured and she's no longer allergic to penicillin.

But 9 months after Mikey's expected demise she gave birth, at the age of about 43, a wee little, perfectly healthy, 5 lb baby girl, Markie, short for Margaret.

I know this story to be true as #I# used to babysit Missy - Mikey and her husband's adopted child as Mikey couldn't get pregnant - and Markey. Many and many time.

So. You see. Never give up. The antibiotics had changed Mikey's system and though things were grim, not only did things turn around but they finally had a baby.

Funny things how miracals work.

But, gosh. I sure hope you don't get PG. I think that would be more than we all could handle.

Thank you Green. You're a sweet sweet lady!

I had endocarditis. before they replaced my heart valve. I wouldn't have survived a couple of more days if it wasn't for the antibiotics they pumped into my system. That had to be very scary for your friend. Wow. But talk about luck being on their side. Way cool.

Amazing Race in need of volunteers this Saturday!

I am in need of volunteers for the Qualifying Event of The MOST Amazing Race. A large group that supplies up to 20 volunteers just alerted me today that they only have 1 person signed up.

This Sat, July 24

8am-12noon

U of M - Bierman Track and Field

Free tshirt & gift bag

You would be helping set-up, judge and take-down a "challenge" area along with a staff captain and other staff/volunteers. You will be "active" and will definitely have fun! You might even get to meet some Vikings players...

http://www.thesalarmy.org/news/07.16.10race.htm

Friends/family (adults) can help.

I just need names/cell#/email of those volunteering and will email detailed info when confirmed.

Thanks!!!

I now have 4 years experience as an artist so thats a lot better then the last time I was looking for work. Going to try and get more free lance work for now. Will see what happens.

If you make it to Seattle (not sure if you've been there before)...

Instead of $15 to go up the space needle, evidently you can go to the tallest building in the city and go all the way to the top for $5. We were told this the day before we had to leave by a tour guide from the underground tours. (I recommend that too if you are into city history with a humorous twist)

Been thinking of you today, I don't say it much, but wanted you to know anyway...
