hell yeah... im up for the nacho's too... I dont mess, with bowling against ninjas that bowl 300 games..... my step dad has done that like 6 or 7 times, and has a bunch of watches, and crap to prove it, and now he's trying to do it with his other hand too....it sucks ass trying to bowl with him. What bowling alley did this happen at, so I can know where to "not" go?
THX - this weekend can't be over yet...I'm not ready!!!!
No kidding! This four day weekend went by so quickly.
It was however a productive weekend at the Taylor household. We got 90% of the Christmas shopping done for our family, got all the gifts we bought wrapped, AND we got 100% of our shopping done for our "Christmas Family" (I don't know what to call them).
What was cool about our "Christmas Family" this year is, Scribe thinks she knows them. From the names, she thinks it's a woman she worked with several years ago on her Habitat House. The woman has three kids of her own and two of her sisters. It was just a good time and I usually hate shopping. Especially the day after Thanksgiving.
You think shopping the day after Thanksgiving is bad? Try working it. 33 hours of working the past three days. I, for one, am glad this weekend is done with.
You think shopping the day after Thanksgiving is bad? Try working it. 33 hours of working the past three days. I, for one, am glad this weekend is done with.
Hhhhmmm. Never worked retail, much less day after Thanksgiving.
Not only is it Monday, but looks like I'll have to scrape the car off too. Egads!!!!
We had a productive weekend here too. The tree is up both here and up north, a good share of shopping is done and I know what else I need to get yet so that's all good. None of the wrapping is done yet but the wrapping paper is out and in the ready. Baking is this week's main thing. We'll make cookie dough this week and probably bake some and then finish the baking on the weekend - especially the fussier stuff.
I tried very hard to help a family out---we are not doing so well ourself but I met someone and her kids who are way worse off and I thought I would get all my friends to help...most of my friends give to Toys for Tots anyhow so I thought 'what would be the difference'- so, I got the kids Christmas lists (2 teens-a boy & a girl). I got help from a couple people of a couple things but my friends seam to be greeeeedy this year- :( ...I know they have the $$ and can help out but they really arn't. (I understand the friends of mine who really don't have it that can't give it-thats ok. Its my friends who do have it that disappoint me) So here I am trying to make up for the friends who arn't giving and I didn't have it in the first place to give more) uuuuuhhhhh, SO if anyone wants to help-Please let me know- The girl and her mom share a double bed. Collection agencies are hounding them! Their dad is recently jailed for a couple of years. They have no pictures on there walls-they don't even have a toaster!
We are giving much less to our kids this year BUT I am very grateful that I can give anything at all. THANK YOU GOD!
wish I could help me2 but I don't know if I'm going to be able to afford for my kids this year, not to mention I have to pay for a pair of teachers glasses that chris threw out a classroom window and anything he ruined breaking into someones car over the weekend, I guess if I have to make any of the kids suffer this year it will be him!
Me2 - We already do a family every year for Christmas. We just can't take on anyone else and do justice to the one we have.
LL - Sounds like your kid has sure pulled some stuff lately...but I like the idea of those glasses being the gift. After all, it's part of learning responsibility for one's own actions. The best discipline is something that directly relates to the offense. However actually wrapping the glasses up for him probably isn't a good idea - but you could wrap a certificate of sorts - probably make one on your computer - that indicates the amount of money those glasses cost. Then another one indicating the value of whatever got damaged from that car thing this past weekend. Natural consequences are wonderful things if you can figure it out.
I'm ready to hit the shower. I put in a 12 hour day today. I'm beat.
"but I like the idea of those glasses being the gift"
I agree but you also need to think of what you would do if the incident happened back in February. I'm sure the actions would carry much less weight if they occurred 8 months ago. Maybe doing something now will make him think that it could happen year round and it'll be coal in the stocking for years to come. I wish you the best of luck LL. And that's coming from a former pain-in-the-ass kid. I don't know how my mom did it.
well, the car thing just happened last weekend and the glasses the weekend before so they are both still pretty fresh.I'm at the point now where I'm just gonna stand back and let him bury himself, he refuses to listen to me anyway, then when he sees the judge they will get the full picture. I don't know what else to do but let him hit rock bottom.
LL - Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom before they see the light. It can be hard to watch - but if it creates the turn around in the behavior - it's worth every heart-wrenching moment.
Hang in there. You will get through this - and so will the kid...one way or another.
Man... if I would have tried that stuff and my mom would have found out about it... she would have smacked me, and made me clean the basement for a week... lemme tell ya... the basement at our old house, had stuff rotting down there since before I was born. So thats stale.
Me and Shaggs and one of our homies back in the day, and shagg's cousin...got busted ditching one time back in our freshman year of highschool... it would have all been gravy if our "homie" at the time, would have allowed shagg's and his cousin to run away from the cops. just like I did... but he had to grab their asses and say "stay here guys!" or someshit like that.... so cut to the end... after my mom finds out about me getting caught ditchin... I knew she would be helly pissed, and she was.... she grounds me for a week... not to mention, that i was suspended from school.... haahaha... hows that? I left school.... and then they find out, and give me the whole week off....weird aint it? But lets just say... I had to clean that damn basement... so that week off kind of sucked ass.
To sum all this up... LL... I dont know what to tell ya.... maybe you can send him over here to my dads house, where Im livin now and have him clean up our garage, and cook me some scrambled eggs (sorry... im just hungry as hell).....but check it.. dont fret over all the crap...just tell him that you wish he could see that he's messin up his life, and in the meantime, makin shit crappy for everyone else that cares for him, and that if he was smart, he would change somethings up right quick... ya dig?
thanks guy's, Iv'e been tellin him that for a long time J, he just doesn't get it, part of the problem is his dad, dad is pretty much a jerk and on occasion abusive so he doesn't want to see him wich would be fine if he could stay here the weekends that my step kids are here, we had to agree to bring him to his dads when they come or my hubby doesn't get to see his kids. ( long story ) anyway, no one in the family will take him every other weekend cuz of the things he does, so I really don't have much of a choice. oh well, In 2 years he will be 18 and if he doesn't figure shit out hes out the door.
My suspension duties always involved weeding the garden. And the the weeds weren't growing in any nice soft black soil. They were stuck in hard compacted dry sand where the weeds would break off at the stem assuring an almost certain fresh batch of them the next time I was sent home. Eventually I bought a car and all was beautiful. The only difference is that it was now a judge sentencing me to weed the damn garden if ya know what I mean.
Hey LL - I have a size 12 1/2 boot that might be able to help you with your little problem if the courts don't work out. Looking back, that's exactly what I needed at the time. My BS went on way too long. Maybe someone I looked up to as being 'cool' could of slapped some sense into me. To have a respected uncle, teacher or older friend spell it out for you makes much more of an impact than a parent might at that age.
Life sure gets complicated, doesn't it? I sure hope for all of you that he gets the message - one way or the other. Two years can seem like an eternity...I know all too well.
There is light though on the other side - and I'm glad to say that our little juvie grew up and is one fine young lady now. She can hardly believe now all the crap she pulled then. (She'll be 24 in another week and a half.)
I suppose that if his dad is abusive, I don't blame him for not wanting to go there every other weekend. I wonder if there's any respite type care out there you could take advantage of on at least some of those weekends. I'm not sure where you'd find that - but perhaps check with the county.
She can hardly believe now all the crap she pulled then
heck. i was a goody-two-shoes (thanks me2 for the word ;) and when i look back on my days in high school i can't believe some of the crap i pulled back then.
ya, I have to say, he's not very sneaky! sometimes I think he want's to get caught cuz he leaves things right out in the open or where he knows we are gonna look.
where Im livin now and have him clean up our garage, and cook me some scrambled eggs (sorry... im just hungry as hell).
between that and Terry saying the word 'wrench' made me think we need help with construction on the house-but he should be helping out at your house. I am sure you can find something that needs to be worked on ;)
I recall the name LL but not a face to it. Will have to look him up in the yearbook. and search for a pic of you too somewhere ;)

Man this four day weekend went fast!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving?
Good Evening!
Congratulations to Kris!!! Way to go!!!!
LL - Hang in there. You'll make it even if you don't think you will. Positive vibes heading your way.

Hhhhmmm. Never worked retail, much less day after Thanksgiving.
I still hate shopping for the most part.
:-)
flaherty's is probably one of the nicest places i've ever bowled at ian.
There was just a hint of fuzzy white northern lights in the sky when I was out @ 9 tonight.
Hang in there LL, more good vibes coming your way!
flaherty's is probably one of the nicest places i've ever bowled at ian.
They really have excellent junior bowling programs. I wish we would have moved sooner.
Mornin' Sams.
Ugh, Monday.

Better get to it. I hate Mondays. UGH!
Hi,
"Christmas Family"
I tried very hard to help a family out---we are not doing so well ourself but I met someone and her kids who are way worse off and I thought I would get all my friends to help...most of my friends give to Toys for Tots anyhow so I thought 'what would be the difference'- so, I got the kids Christmas lists (2 teens-a boy & a girl). and thank you Ares for helping too :)
I'm sorry me2, but I'm tapped out. :-(
you're welcome, j.
Well THX -thanks for the thought anyhow-I understand completely- you already took on a family for Christmas! That is more than your share!
wish I could help me2 but I don't know if I'm going to be able to afford for my kids this year, not to mention I have to pay for a pair of teachers glasses that chris threw out a classroom window and anything he ruined breaking into someones car over the weekend, I guess if I have to make any of the kids suffer this year it will be him!
there yah go LL!!!! wrap up the glasses for him under the tree for him to give to the teacher AND whatever was broken or taken from the car.
not a bad idea me2!!
by the way me2, I work with someone that used to go to como...do you remember jeff hendricks?
oooooo aaaaaaaa eeeeeeee
yes!!!!!! sorry guy's, I had to steal it!
that's ok, ll. we're building up for the one that's coming (no pun intended) 500 posts from now ;)
Me2 - We already do a family every year for Christmas. We just can't take on anyone else and do justice to the one we have.

ya, I think a 12 1/2 boot might do the trick, It's twice the size of mine!
She can hardly believe now all the crap she pulled then
heck. i was a goody-two-shoes (thanks me2 for the word ;) and when i look back on my days in high school i can't believe some of the crap i pulled back then.
I was a perfect angel. I never pulled any crap. Well, the second part is true, but it had to do more with being a perfect geek than a perfect angel.
I never thought I'd wish my kid was a geek! but boy that would be great right about now!
I never got into trouble really. Nothing bad anyway. Not because I was an angel but because my parents were oblivious and I never got caught.
If not for having good sisters around to keep me in line, I could have turned out a different person.
btw, L.L., geeks rule the world.
btw, L.L., geeks rule the world.
Thats because they stay out of trouble! ( most of them anyway!)
actually its because we know how to make trouble without getting caught.
ya, I have to say, he's not very sneaky! sometimes I think he want's to get caught cuz he leaves things right out in the open or where he knows we are gonna look.
well, the first rule of causing trouble and not getting caught is that you don't talk about it. to anyone. ever.
where Im livin now and have him clean up our garage, and cook me some scrambled eggs (sorry... im just hungry as hell).
between that and Terry saying the word 'wrench' made me think we need help with construction on the house-but he should be helping out at your house. I am sure you can find something that needs to be worked on ;)
I recall the name LL but not a face to it. Will have to look him up in the yearbook. and search for a pic of you too somewhere ;)
I have a size 12 1/2 boot that might be able to help
;) what does this phrase REALLY tell us? ;)
well, since we're comparing, would it be any help if you knew that i have a size 13 boot that might help?
but it had to do more with being a perfect geek than a perfect angel.
I think they can go hand in hand ;)
MEN! Always trying to compare and outdo eachother!
you both can have me ;) .....I make a wonderful friend :)
I'm only size 10.
*hangs head in shame*
but you've got personality- that counts for something right?
that's ok, though, tmk. you are after all just a kids.
