Now---- VJ? Truly sorry about your grandpa. I was just thinking today many questions I would love to ask my dad and grandma about some of the American history they lived through. :(

so, tonight some asshole decided that the rear driver-side window on my van needed to be broken. I guessI'm lucky nothing was stolen. We got home about 4:30 pm and at 7:30 pm a Columbia Heights officer noticed it.

Is it Uzitime ?

He obviously couldn't have drove through when it actually happened and caught the guy! They are only good at letting you know so the next time they drive through they can write you a ticket for it. :(

of course not. that'd make too much sense for the cop.

That's not entirely true.

Last week Scribe was inside Caribou getting a coffee and someone hit our car and took off.

There happened to be an off duty officer that saw it.

She (the off duty cop) waited for Scribe to come out and told Scribe what happend. Then she stuck around for an hour to fill out the police reports....

The police informed the woman that did it, she calls and trys to say she doesn't know if she did it, that she doesn't rememeber...... I say, "Well, it was an off duty cop that saw it and reported it to my wife". After I said that the womans tone totally changed as you can imagine.

Anyway, goodnight folks. Have a great nite.

Went to the funeral today... and I guess their gonna be cremating him tomorrow, and the burial service is tuesday, at fort snelling. Their burying him there I guess cause its a free service for veterans... and their also going to bury my grandmas ashes (she died 2 years ago, in march), along with him.

The funeral today went ok.

Well.. i guess THAT was a lie... all funerals suck ass...

It helps that I have a big Italian family on my moms side. My grandpa had 4 other brothers and 1 sister, who was disowned a LONG time ago, and no one has heard from her, since she moved to California WAY WAY back in the day.

My grandpa and grandma went on to have 4 sons and my mom... and my granpa was the last one out of his brothers to pass... although his sister is still in CA someplace....

They had 5 kids, 13 grandkids, and so far... 7 great grandkids....

Its cool to think that my cousins kids actually have gotten to see their great grandfather. I never did that. My sister on the other had met our great gramma on my dads side.

But anyhow... almost everyone that could make it today, did so.

We had the funeral at Mueller Mortuary, on 7th and Johnson Parkway, for those of you familiar with the East Side.... and they had this thing, thats evidentlly kinda new in funerals.... where they had a big screen TV set up, with a VCR... and one of my aunts, had previously selected some photos, of my grandpas old army days, and when he was single, and messing around with his brothers, all the way up to when he met my gramma, and my uncles and my mom were born. They had them all put on a VHS tape, and it played like a slide show..... along with some really sad music ofcourse... it was actually pretty cool.

We also had the big posterboards full of old and new pictures...

Afterwards, 25 - 30 of us... most being my uncles, aunts, and cousins, all went to Moose Country, out in Lillydale, and had food and drinks... right now.. im sorta half getting over my drunken stupor.. otherwise, I prolly wouldnt be sittin here typin all this to ya'll.

But I realized, after I got back here and sat around for awhile and havent done anything.... except for sitting around.... that.... at my grandmas funeral... I cried my ass off like a lil baby... and today.. I did almost next to none... Its not like I didnt love him or anything..... and I miss him like fuck..... but still... I didnt really do any crying.. and havent yet.. its kinda like I still dont know that he's gone or somethin. Damn.

Anyhow... I guess im gonna go for now. Layta.

It'll come, J.

I got through my Grandma's funeral and a couple days after just fine. My mom rented us a trailer so I could bring back (from Indiana) some of my Grandma's furniture and stuff she gave. Three days after the funeral, driving back to Minnesota, wife and kids sleeping, and I'm just thinkin'. Then it hit me hard. My grandma's gone, and I've got her stuff in a trailer behind me. Couldn't drive the rest of the day.

when my grandpa died 5 and a half years ago, vj, i did a little crying initially, and some at the funeral. but things really didn't sink in for me until about a week after the fact. we all grieve in our own separate ways i guess. truly sorry about your loss.

If you've never wanted to hug a clown before, that means 1 of 2 things... 1: you're afraid of them, and 2: You've never seen any clowns as adorable as us.

Thanks Me2.... Seriously... it fuckin blows... I mean... atlest my sister met our other grandpa... he died back in 1977.. and that was before I was born... I grew up with two grandmas and 1 grandpa..

I dunno.. it just seems like alot has gone on today.. but really Not much has been going on.. you know?.

Its kinda like in a dream... how your walking, but your feet arent moving, and your really just kinda standing there.

But shit..... Life goes on.. right?

Atleast thats what everyone keeps tellin me. "Hang in there Nick.. you'll be ok" "Just keep rolling nick... go find a new job"
"Theres a great girl out there waiting for you someplace Nick... dont worry"

But still ya'll... I mean.. I know everythings gonna be ok... it always does get ok... but when ya actually take a step back for a second and get a look at the "big picture" everything that everyone does, seems like a small step, cause in the end, all that really matters is who you have with ya.

I think about that sometimes... like when I see them homeless people walkin around downtown and stuff.. beggin for change, and lookin all srubby. What if they dont have a big ass family like I do? What do they do? So alot of the time.. if I got some spare change on me... or a dollar bill or 2 and one of those guys/ladies ask me if they can borrow some... I pretty much always do that.... I dont know why Ive always done that either... I pretty much think about that whenever theres a funeral or something...... its like... who the hell am I to judge whether or not your deserving of 25 cents? What the hell am I gonna spend it on? A can of pop? Shit man... here fuckit.. have 2 dollars... get yourself a hot meal, or a place to crash for the night.... whatever you need, man.

I know.. it seems like im fuckin sittin here.... ramblin n shit.. but.. hey... whatever. its late... im tired... and alot has gone on.

Man, my husband and mom-in-law got on me briefly before Christmas- My oldest and I were at Blockbuster and a man approached us in the parking lot- he asked for some spare chaange for food. I reached in my pocket and all I had was a $10 - I leaned over- handed it to him and said 'Merry Christmas' - he walked over to Target to get some dinner. I don't have the money to be handing out- all my friends know that- but at least I had a warm home to go home to. My husband and mom-in-law see it as- we may not have a home to come home to if I give all our money away.

I was never bothered by the death of any of my grandparent's much. I'm not sure if I'll even be bothered much when my parents die. To me death is a natural part of the life cycle and if someone manages to live a full life, then there's really nothing terribly tragic about their passing. If they were a part of your life on a consistent basis, then perhaps we'll miss that part of our lives that involved them. But the only time I really feel sad about someone dying is when it strikes me as something that shouldn't have happened. I think I was actually more bothered when I heard Phil Hartman died then when I heard my grandmother died. My grandmother was very old and ill and her passing was expected. Phil's death was unexpected and fairly unwarranted (he was shot by his wife).

Maybe I'm just a little weird but I guess my point is don't let it bother you if you don't get too upset by it. Death is a part of life and not something we need to necessarily get freaked out over.

I told my daughters they have more money than me and dad...they looked at us perplexed..."no we dont" they said. I explained that we owe money before we can actually have money and since they didn't owe any money that the cash they had was more than us.

Yeah... AW... I hear that... My granpa's death was to be expected too... he was in and out of the hospital for the last month and a half.. it seemed like he would be in the hospital for a week.. back home and doing "fine" for 2 or 3 days.. and then BOOM right back in for another 2 weeks... one night he had 2 heart attacks and died 3 times when he was in there.... yet he still was out and fine enough to come to X-Mas at my moms with the whole family..... that night after everyone had gone back home.. evidentlly, he ended up going back into the hospital, where he stayed until he passed on new years eve...

Its not like I really get freaked out at all by death... I know its a part of life too... its just that in the past... I really only had 3 people close to me die.... both my grandmas, and one of my grandmas friends, who was like another grandma... since she had been around and staying with my grandma since before my dad and uncle were born.... and now my grandpa... and In a way... its like... one day your sitting there talking with them... and then their not there anymore, and theres stuff you forgot to ask them... or wanted to tell them and hadnt gotten the chance.... I know all that seems real small in then end... but.... I dont know... It just sucks I guess. I hear it all the time "Life Sucks" yeah... well... so does Death

I know why that is. I used to work for the cable company. Most likely TLC is broadcast through your cable on the same frequency as one of the local channels. If your signal is weak, or a wire somewhere is not shielded well, then the wire in the cable starts to act like an antenna and the signal from the airwaves interferes with the cable signal and you get bad reception, usually characterized by lines on the screen or some other sort of interference pattern.
