Thanks OT. I'm headin out tomorrow to take a few pix of your sites. I always like new foliage sites. Anyone else? I know Afton down by Selmas is really nice. Not sure about the new place tho.

Nice Joe Ares! I wanted that one!

I didn't drive past the church or go down Butler today so they might not be at peak yet. But if they're not, maybe you can gauge when they will be.

I just came back from disc golfing on Butler at Kaposia Park but didn't go down the hill. The course was just awesome looking. It always is, especially down in the valley. Took lots of pix

Well then the hill side whould be pretty too. I might have to drive out that way tomorrow too. When my mother was almost bed ridden, we still took that little drive in the fall. It was her favorite place to see leaves.

Clue Master. If you haven't gone to the Butler hill yet be sure to turn the corner going south on 19th. The leaves looking back toward Kaposia are magnificent! Worth a special trip in fact.

south on 19th

Is that the road that goes down and up through the valley? That's a cool spot even when the leaves aren't changing. Thanks. Will do.

That's the spot! I took some pictures of my own with my digital. I'm not much of a photographer, but with a subject like that I'm going to look good! The church yard on Upper 55th isn't peak yet. Still pretty though. I love that place.

F#%#ed over road disaster. I got my hunk of Saturn back from the shop $139.00 for a new battery if I had known that was all it was I could have done that my self for 1/4 the cost. Smashes head in car door.

Hey OT, Here's a couple of pix I took this evening while I was out walking around the Kaposia trail with the kid. I need to get there tomorrow when it's sunny out to capture the scenery a bit better. We did the whole walk from Concord up through my disc golf course. Just Beautiful!

Nice! I'm going camping at Nerstrand Big Woods state park this weekend, and hope to get some nice shots there. I'll share if I do.

Beautiful pictures CM! I took a few too but from the road. I think I'll go back and walk the trail like you did. Isn't it nice to have such a pretty spot right in the middle of the city? Thanks!

Year ago, when I was young, there wasn't a trail all the way to Concord. That wasn't build until after half of the ravine washed away after a huge storm. Took out the bridge on 19th Avenue too. Anyway, there was no trail, but there was a culvert. We used to walk that dirt trail and then climb through the culvert and come out at the river! It started well before 19th so it was pretty long and very spooky! You would crawl over wet stuff and hear scurrying sounds. Weren't we smart? Just young and stupid I guess. But it sure was an adventure!

    Clue Master

Yeah, I've been playing disc golf there for 15 years and I think I actually liked the rustic look better at times. It sure makes it easier to walk on a paved path now though. The trail continues over Concord all along the river walkway too. I think the whole system goes from just south of 494 by the old toll bridge all the way up threw Kaposia park. It looks like they are doing some big construction to develop that last little corner where the pavement ends to the north. Then it would connect to the parking lot or whatever their building right now. Any ideas?

    Thu, 10/09/2003 - 8:08 PM Permalink
    OT

Eventually they are going to have soccer and softball fields down there. But that's just in the planning stage right now. The river walk is also going to be extended and will go to Hastings! I walk that trail a couple of times a week. Just have to roll down the hill and pick it up at the bottom of John Carrol Blvd. Walk to the fishing pier under the Wakota Bridge and back. What you're seeing might be the start of a toxic clean up they have to do before they put in the fields. Kamish used it for dumping for years. And not all clean fill.

Thanks KC0. Yeah, the trees are becoming bare pretty fast. I posted a few foliage pix on my web site titled 'Fall Is Finally Here" and some friends of mine from Brainerd wrote that fall is pretty much over up there already. There's a real small window of opportunity. Especially with this wind and possibly rain this weekend. It sure is peak colors right now though huh? I even have my cursor as a leaf that's changing from green to fall colors.

    Full Boat Joe!!

60% chance of rain tomorrow, but Sunday should be sunny. I'll try to get out for pics tomorrow. Probably down at cherokee, maybe up to Kaposia (those ones looked great) and then at the scenic overlook up on 61 and warner road. If I'm lucky, I'll catch a few good shots of color in.

I'm thinking next year I'll take a short trip during peak season up to the north shore and get some in. Lots of beautiful land up there, and the way it is at my work, short vacations are best anyways.

Have a good time Frosti. GL on the weather. Going south down hwy 61 to Lacrosse is a pretty nice trip if you happen to miss the north shore drive. Both sides of the river are equally colorful although the Minnesota side offers more river overlooks along the way.

    I have a warm fuzzy:

I hate windy days but my favorite (probly only good thing)

is when I am driving and the wind blows through the colorful trees and lotsof leaves gently fall down from the trees over the grill of my truck then the hood and finally the windshild as I drive threw them on the road :)
I want to just close my eyes and raise my arms out as if to feel them go over me-almost as if my truck were my erogenous zone...
