Good deal, ESD!

I also am just a bit proud. I managed to figure out what the problem was with my dialup connection up here. The restore CDs HP sent me didn't have the updated modem drivers for Windows XP. Once I had those downloaded and installed, I've been online without falling off for almost 2 hours.

The simple things mean so much.

Heard from our son again today. 5 Peace Corps volunteers were fired this last week for breaking security regulations. They decided to take a detour (awol from site violation) and vacation (vacation policy violation) - one of them climbed a church (breaking cultural protocol), and they were out after dark which is a huge violation where there are so many security issues. Jeff, the church climber fell and broke his heel. They all escorted him to the capitol and met with the Director Friday morning. She let them think of punishment. Then she called all the PC Central America directors for advice and held a senior staff meeting in which all of the APCDs or Associate PC Directors (the day to day bosses of PCVs) recommended before asked, dismissal of all five volunteers.

From what he said, they are working on lowering the number of any new volunteers now because of security issues.

Otherwise he's doing okay and was going to be helping someone vaccinate a bunch of baby chicks later today.

I just try not to worry.

HOLY...OUCH!

Thanks for sharing TV-Your son reminds me of the doctors on ER right now- Keeping your son in our prayers-

MV- welcome to normal ;) hehehe, only 8 kids under 4? thank GOD I am done with those days...um, it doesn't get much better.
I have to tend to teenager birthdays now besides the kid parties-that are still just as loud!
Now they want to blare music and put on nailpolish while staying up late talking about boys! and they always have at least 10 friends besides relatives!

We broke it down to $200 per party per kid besides the cost of gifts (another $100 easy) - so far with 2 kids we have spent $3800 besides gifts in their lifetime just on the parties themselves.

I personally think that $160,000 per kid to raise from 0-18 is an understatement-that doesnt include Valleyfair, Science Museum and Zoo memberships or yearly family vacations, trips to the lake or the everyday-"Can I have this" or "Can I have that" when we go to the store.

You HAVE got to try this one!!!!!!!Ê ENJOY

OUT TO DINNER MATHEMATICS

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST

It takes less than a minute.......

Work this out as you read.

Don't cheat and read the bottom until you've worked through it!

This is fun!

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to
have
dinner out. (try for more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)

3. Add 5. (for Sunday)

4. Multiply it by 50 - I'll wait while you get the
calculator................

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1753.... If you
haven't, add 1752..........

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number.

The first digit of this was your original number

(I.e., how many times you want to have eat out each week.)

The next two numbers are...

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it IS!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2003) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND
WHILE IT LASTS. IMPRESSIVE, ISN'T IT? WHO EVER FIGURED THIS OUT
HAS ALOT OF TIME ON THIER HANDS! ;-)

King Boreas aka Ian

they started by taking their age and tried to find a number that when, subtracted by your birthyear, would give you a negative number that would cancel out your age. 16 and 1986 are mine. They would merely guess and check till they got 1752 (some other numbers work but the top part would have to change). 1752-1986=-234. If they had a number ending in a 5 and a zero, the -234 would be added to give back 16 (in the last 2 places). Also take into considerion that the -234 will also subtract 200 in addition to the numbers in the last places, therefore making the first digit 2 less than the original number. All they had to do from there was find a way to take the starting number (in my case 7) and make a 3-digit number with the first digit being the starting number +2, the second digit being a five, and the last digit being a 0. They would work with 7 to find a way to get 950. An obvious thing would be the 50. An easy way to get the 50 in 950 is to multiply to get 950. Since we are working backwards, lets divide. 950/50. 19 is 12+ my number, but that doesnt work in the other examples. 14 is 2*7, and 19-5 is 14. They then tried taking the number, adding multiplying it, then adding by 5. It works with all the other numbers, so they got (N*2+5)*50= the three digit number I explained earlier that works with the year of birth and age.

I have a headache ...

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have dinner out. (try for more than once but less than 10)

X

2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)

2X

3. Add 5. (for Sunday)

2X + 5

4. Multiply it by 50 - I'll wait while you get the calculator................

100X + 250

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1753.... If you haven't, add 1752..........

100X + 2003 (or 2002)

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

100X + 2003 - 1968 = 100X + 35

You should have a three digit number.

Yes, you should.

The first digit of this was your original number

(I.e., how many times you want to have eat out each week.)

i.e. 100X

The next two numbers are...

And you thought you'd never use algebra after high school!

I still haven't. You did ;-)

Thanks for that. I was just congratulating my nephew on his A+ in Algebra since that's the only subject I aced. Funny how it's definitely not like a bike in that I couldn't peddle those equations any more than I could do simple math without a calculator. The difference with my nephew and I was that he gets A's & B's in his other classes and I must have thought that one A+ would average out all the other D's & F's. Well, that kind of logic doesn't work outside of the math classroom. :-(

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.

Good afternoon, 'Heads!

Guess WHAT!!!

I cabbaged onto two Eagles tickets at work today! YUP!!!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?????? I get to go listen to the guys that did Hotel Coolerfornia!!!!

And wouldn't you know it... :(

My printer doesn't work, so I can't print the words to our theme song. Bummer. At least I know the refrain...

Man, I'm PUMPED!!! They're gonna see The Mean-green-Dancing-Machine in action tonite!!! (Much to Pops' chagrin... But that doesn't bother him 1/2 as much as my singing...)

Is that tonight or something? The ticket prices for The Eagles were astronomical, so I didn't even consider going. For a fair price, I might have.

Hay, Frosti!

Yup, t'was tonite. And what a GREAT concert it was! Got The Eagles, Joe Walsh, and The James Gang all tied into one concert! They played approximately four hours. Was the best concert I've been to in seven years.

Tickets t'wern't too bad. A woman had work had bought them and couldn't use them as her husband had recently had surgery. So she was going to go with her daughter and her daughter's friend (her daughter had gotten three seats together). And the woman I work with had to get rid o'these tickets. I was able to get them at a discounted price!!! :D

I'm whipped. Think I sang every song, and moved and grooved to them all, too.

Was a fantastic concert! Now, I'm off to Nod. SCD's and MCL to you all.

I just had a weird dream. I dreamt I met Me2's Dad, although apparently I had met him before when I was younger, but I didn't remember it. Yet he remembered me. He was dying of cancer and was very sick, but had sought me out because he had this message from God to deliver to me. It was something like that God was going to reveal these mysteries of the universe to me and then I was supposed to do something with it. Strange eh?

Very weird, Allison.

In an email we received from our daughter this morning...

I didn't want to worry you two- but I was almost car jacked on Thursday night. Everything is ok, I needed to get my sideview mirror fixed again, but luckily my car doors always lock automatically and he wasn't able to get in. The police caught him about 1/2 hour after I called them and they took the description. I thank God for small favors!!!!!! Who knew those auto locks would save me!

That girl has a very busy guardian angel looking out for her!!!
