hey I found some pictures of the 45th parallel boulder in roseville, pretty cool, I think I'll try and find it myself sometime soon, now that I know what to look for.
That is way cooler! I always wanted to know where that was and see how accurate my GPS is. Reg, Alibabas & I are prolly gonna check out some Geo-Caches later today (Sat) if anyone wants to meet up. I'd like to get a few shots of the palace construction too.
My daughter has gotten a scholarship from the Page Foundation. This is a scholarship set up by former Minnesota Viking and current Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Alan Page.
There is a gathering for some function scheduled for tomorrow - but what it is exactly she's not sure. Anyway, she has been asked to give a little speech for this event as a Page Scholar and will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Page! She's all excited about that!

I told you guys it was out there-noooo, no one beleived me2.
Thought I'd share a couple of stories sent by my son who is a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala. He has a way with a story.
So you ready for two gross stories?
1.) People eat a ton of tamales here. It's the basic wad of corn mush inside of which is usually stuffed some piece of cow or pig. Anyway, alongside the road near this bus stop I always use was found a bunch of dog heads wrapped up in plastic bags. Dude, how nasty is that?! You wanna know where the bodies ended up? Yup, inside the tamales served to people for New Year's Day festivities. I will NEVER eat a tamale again. NEVER.
2.) So Wednesday I was down helping this group make their new tree nursery and we were constructing the seed bed. Anyway, I'm down on my hands and knees rolling my hands through the soil, breaking up little clods, when I grab a squish clod that just happened to be a CHUNK of horse manure! Sososooo revolting, but I don't make a face or say anything because I don't want to seem like a weenie in front of the group. So I dig my hands farther down hoping to "wash it off" in the drier soil, only my fingers run up on a whole Bed of poop. UGH!!! I give up and run down to the river and wash my hands off. I come back up and the group president is like "You know there's a reason we're all using garden hoes Brian, I suggest you use yours too, eh?!"
There are two levels of qualifying for the State Tournament. Round 1 is House Level qualifying, meaning the center where a bowler participates in a weekly league. Kris goes to school at Minnesota State University-Mankato and is in a league at Jerry Dutler's Bowl. On the day of qualifying, with a 217 average, he rolled 255-210-247 [712] which was tops for his group. He advanced to District, also at Dutler's, where he rolled 176-226-213 [615] which was tops for the District. As District Champion, he advanced to State, at Earle Brown Bowl in Brooklyn Center.
Holiday break for MSU is from mid-December to mid-January, a bit too long without a regular daily routine. Kris is a pretty good poker player, but let's just say he has trouble knowing when to get up from the table. A few days ago was a particularly bad time, and he had been a little bit down.
In the Friday Night Scratch League at Flaherty's, he put together four pretty good games and made the cut. He won his first match, then lost the second, but the point is that he was bowling again and seemed in good spirits.
Two of the Friday Night bowlers, Carl Poelzer, and Dustin Dormahad also advanced to State. One of his college teammates was also there. These guys are all very competitive, and regularly bowl in the monthly Minnesota Junior Bowlers Tour.
During practice this afternoon, Kriswas making good shots, and appeared ready to compete.
At the end of game 1, Kris was in the lead with 237. At the end of game two, he was in the lead with 474. Dustin was second with 451. Dustin and Kris both rolled 213, giving Kris the State title. It was very close though. Three bowlers from Flaherty's placed 1-2-3:
CONGRATS KRIS!!! And Happy Papa Ian, too! We've bowling tonite. It's a non-sanctioned league... But ittiz bowling. I got a new 13 lb. Yellow Dot Columbia. And Mike, the Minnihaha pro, re did my approach... And I can't bowl for shit. Not that I could before, but my average is 20 pins less than what it was. My first three games with my new ball: 80, 88... 165!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's me! Miz Consistancy! :D
Mom, well... No time like the present! We should try Q O'Sheba, waddya say? I'm game! And I can't WAIT for my buttons!!!
Pops and I went down to the Ice Place today and walked all the way around it. HOW AWESOME!!! Very very neat. Totally Cooler. Buttons will be registered tomorrow...
AND ITTIZ JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta run. Gotta go suck at bowling. MCL and SCD. Keep the light on fur me!
Kris appreciates it very much. A few weeks ago during one of his "slumps" he was ready to give up bowling. He now has won over $7000 in scholarship money. His next year of college is free.
