KC0GRN
On a happier note, I now have 8 days of palace construction now in video format, I've kinda found my pace with the project now and putting the webcam issues aside, everything is going very smoothly. The video averages about a minute and a half per day, meaning in the 25 days or so of construction, the end product should be about 30 minutes, but I'll try to include a day or two of the ice palace during the carnival and then if I'm lucky, the demolition. All in all, shouldn't be looking at more than a 45 minute end product, which will easily fit on a video CD. Lucky for me I have a DVD player at home capable of reading a burned VCD.
I just got back from school to pic up my books and get a new student ID. The only book I will read before school starts is for photoshop this will be my favorite class next to Illustration.
geeesh it is sooo cool - KC0GRN - I am way more than willing to purchase a copy from you- I assume it takes time to download onto disc. Consider donating a copy to a future Mock Hunt ;)How come you havnt participated in a mockhunt?
I just spent the day at the RCHS- Ramsey County Historical Society- that was awesome! You all should check it out to see if they have a Survey on your house. There is no survey on mine :( I drove past the ice palace but I couldnt slow down due to traffic. I wanted to stop right in front and wave at the camera just to get on KC0GRN's video
After uncovering the origins of the St. Paul Winter Carnival, visit the Ice Palace model in “Weather Permitting,” the History Center exhibit that explores all of the state’s climatic extremes. The museum’s newest exhibit, “Going Places,” opens on Jan. 17 with a family festival featuring performance artists the Unruly Julies, Bruce Springsteen cover band, Lucky Town, Jon Sharratt of the Minnesota Wheelman, showing off his 1885 Victor Highwheel bicycle, and Mobile Entertainment demonstrating the Segway Human Transporter. Inventor Ky Michaelson, also known as “Rocketman,” will discuss his Go-Fast rocket.
“Going Places” explores how America’s attraction to mobility has shaped Minnesota. Past, present and future modes of transportation, such as hot-air balloons, streetcars, bicycles and rockets, are a part of the exhibit, as well as multimedia programs and hands-on activities for the entire family.
In the spirit of the Winter Carnival medallion hunt, visitors of all ages can go on a self-guided scavenger hunt at the State Capitol to find 12 important decorations. Each tour includes a self-guided booklet, which can be purchased for $2 at the Information Desk. At the end of the hunt, visitors become Junior Art Historians and are awarded a gold state seal. The tours run daily Jan. 21 to Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. Call 651-296-2881 for more information.
funny they give those gold state seal stickers to people who visit the Capitol anyhow!
Actually Me2, I did partially participate in TMK's hunt, just didn't attend any of the gatherings, I did get out to a couple of parks and look around. Guess I'm not the gathering sorta person, I'd more likely just meet people out at the parks, I figure it's where any serious hunter ends up anyway.
As for the video, purchasing a copy wouldn't be very much, but I'll figure out the finer details after the project is done. Which will most likely be after the hunt and the winter carnival are done, because I'll want to include parts of that on the video.
Oh well, something to look forward to after all the festivities are done and over.
I have a question for anyone who has ever used ebay....What do you do if you buy something and never recieve it? Hubby bought a sword, she cashed the check (before x-mas) and we never got it, he has e-mailed her like 3 times and we can't get a response, can we complain to ebay somehow?
Thanks Ian, I sent her one more e-mail, If she doesn't respond I'll try that. I have a feeling she's not responding because hubby got upset and a little stern with his phone calls :)
contact ebay, ll. i ad a memory card i'd bought for my camera that didn't show up. apparently the seller had defrauded several other buyers too. the group of us had her ass nailed to the wall in delaware for it too. not that any of us will ever see any of our money back or anything.
BTW I got this message from a guy I bought some buttons from on ebay. Is anyone interested?
"I am also wondering if you would be interested in a purple Winter Carnival uniform. I would be willing to offer this uniform to you for $100.00. It is a Ramsey County Surveyors Marching Group Employee uniform. Please e-mail me with your response! I can also send you a photo, if necessary."
Does anyone know if there is a way to find an e-mail that has been deleted? I even deleted it out of the trash folder so I'm thinkin' I'm kinda screwed here :(
I know I save my e-mails on both my providers server (Comcast) and on my home PC in case something like this happens. Which it has. But I didn't do that before it happened. Kinda like getting a house alarm after you've been burglarized.
Bummer, Hubby printed out the confermation for his sword but then sent it to her with the check so now we can't complain to ebay cuz we don't know the Item # :(

I thought it odd too and had to ask.

Ian guessed right, it's my HAM radio callsign. Check out www.arrl.org and do a call sign lookup on KC0GRN.
Granted it's not a very secure nickname, but it keeps me honest :)
I just got back from school to pic up my books and get a new student ID. The only book I will read before school starts is for photoshop this will be my favorite class next to Illustration.
PS Rocks!
I loved Illustrator class I think I will enjoy Photoshop, using both of them together will be a lot of fun.

do we need to apply to be in the parade -to walk with the winner of the hunt? Does anyone have dates on the parades that we get to walk in?
The winner of the hunt will not be in the parade unless it turns out to be a very short hunt since the parade occurs on the day of Clue 7.
oh wow! I wonder how many winners have NOT been in parades then.
Chriskwanzukah Spectacular- just announced on "Street Smarts" - I love that dumb show!
so we wont be in any parade together this Winter Carnival?
Is that because this is a long Winter Carnival, for the benefit of the All-Star game?
The parade is basically when it always was, on day 10 of the carnival. But the treasure hunt was moved back a week.
Okay, so find the medallion on the 8th day of the hunt. Gotcha ;)
Actually you'd have to find it on Clue #6 or possibly early on Clue #7
hmm, yes well that would make sense too, I'm not too picky long as I find it after the parade is done ;)

Ohhh, I see what you're saying now. In that case, then yes, you'd be better off with Clue #8.
Well I hate to rain on your parade but I am finding the puck this year;)
Does anyone know if there is a way to find an e-mail that has been deleted? I even deleted it out of the trash folder so I'm thinkin' I'm kinda screwed here :(
Probably depends on which e-mail program you're using. But if you emptied the trash you may be screwed.
I know I save my e-mails on both my providers server (Comcast) and on my home PC in case something like this happens. Which it has. But I didn't do that before it happened. Kinda like getting a house alarm after you've been burglarized.
is it possible that you forwarded to some one? Maybe they still have it. Or maybe the person you got it from still has it in their sent items folder.
Bummer, Hubby printed out the confermation for his sword but then sent it to her with the check so now we can't complain to ebay cuz we don't know the Item # :(
