but they are playing another at 5 or 6 tonight also you can go to KSTP.com and click on the cave links - don't know if I am on the website yet -but, last nights fiasco is on there.
I saw it! Pretty cool! I was pretty surprised when I saw your face on tv! I had to yell to gordy to come out and look and make sure I wasn't seeing things :)
I finally saw it- I only talked to them for 1/2 an hour and they also came down to the history center and all they show is a 'guess' at what the gunpowder was in the cave for. Hopefully they will show more tonight.
The funniest thing is: I happen to be studying that area and just happened to have a copy of a plat map from 1955 in my truck-so I pull it out and they video tape it---hahahaha - that is my finger on the map :) ---who carries plat maps around? hahaha, I do!
Me2 I saw ya on the news... lol I was sittin at work watchin the news and the story about the gun powder in the caves came up.. and I was like " Hey... I know her!" lol people were looking at me all funny.. but yeah.. lol can I have your autograph?
She was on the 12:00 and 6:00 news, she has been doing research in that area I guess,I think it has something to do with the volunteer work that she has been doing.

ok, boy are the media and newspaper unorganized... started out with 100 lbs then it was 250 lbs then there was 5000 to 6000 lbs still in there and then it was 11000 lbs that was taken out. first the box said 1951 and then it said 1952! geeeeeesh!
I have been working on the history and caves and streets from Annapolis to Ohio and eventually all the way to Robert St. When this happened the other day I just happen to be studying this area more extensively. Long story but I happen to be in the right place at the right time---I guess. cause I talked to the reporter for a long time and they go and use a "guess" -and that was only 1 of the couple of guesses I told her -she coulda used all of them or even a better guess than the one I gave her. Anyhow, I am working on it-may not have a final decission ever but there sure are a lot of theories floating around-I'll keep you posted.
That cave supposedly goes a mile deep- I am working with a survey group to sometime soon here- go in and video tape and survey it -we already have an interior map for it but it needs updating.
I thought I posted this.....but.... I was very active in the st.paul jaycees...and spent hours and hours and in the cave in crosby while building the haunted house......
that sucker is huge...stories say goes all the way to the ford plant.
Yeah Kitch-isn't that crazy! under the Ford plant is a bunch of tunnels- The Ford plant used the sandstone under there for the glass windows in cars!
The cheese caves are under the U of M- the first American Blue Cheese came from there AND there is even some sort of an Anderson library kept in cool caves by the U as well. The Governor Elmer? Anderson donated his book collection.
rrrr- I tried to e-gram you ESD -but not sure if it went through -came up page error RRRRRRRr -I am on the RCHS computer -so it's not my puter problem :)
I was just trying to give you my phone numbers and that I think you will do an awesome job on the painting of the bluffs of downtown. You have a wonderful colorful talent -
wow..storage of books there?? I wonder how they are controlling the humidity...
the jaycees have to "rebuild" the haunted house every year due to the high humidity in the cave most everything rots in a year or two ..even treated wood....
I was told if the humidity was not there the sandstone wouldn't stay togethor and the caves would "cave in".
But areas of the crosby cave are still just amazing...many good "carvers" have done some amazing murals on the walls....one of them near what I'd guess was around "hidden falls" is a scene of atlantis.
It has been a Mad House here in the production lab. The 6th quarter portfolio show is Tuesday and all the 6th quarter students are running around like chickens without heads trying to throw there portfolios together at the last mn. The lesson I have learend from this is get it done early.
I missed it! Damn it!
Why were you interviewed?

is this the story??
1950s gunpowder, interesting. Not to mention the only way anyone would have found it was by going into an off limits cave...
I think it had been hidden and a raccoon came along, dug it up and moved it.
Hey me2!! We were watching the 6 o'clock news on channel 5 - and suddenly there you were! Way Cooler!!!!
Dawg saw Me2 on T.V. way cooler, I missed it as I am at work:(
I was at school, but I'll watch at 10, just in case. Yay me2!
In other news, I've lost my glasses.
What was she on the news for?
Something to do with those kids who found all the gunpowder in the caves. And, I forgot to turn the news on.
I think it had been hidden and a raccoon came along, dug it up and moved it.
Did they check in the gunpowder to make sure there wasn't a winter carnival medallion in there?

I didn't see her, and I tried watching the 5 news @ 10:00 last night. I remember the gun powder story, but didn't see her.
What I want to know is, how is me2 involved in this gunpowder thingy?
She was on the 12:00 and 6:00 news, she has been doing research in that area I guess,I think it has something to do with the volunteer work that she has been doing.

I can't imagine why those things are fat.
The article did say that parasites in raccoons excrement can cause brain damage. That might explain the owner's strange behavior.
