It took me until yesterday to realize that Ians' avatar was President Bush in disguise as a stooge...very funny, but, now he's gone. You definately have an imagination that is unique that adds to the COOLER :)
- I love all the different personalities we have here in the COOLER. What fun would it be if we all were the same - we need a little of everyone to make fun of...ooops....to make this fun. hahahaha AND if we were all the same, WHO would we all be? hmmm, all Jake? all Mr News, would we all have whips? OR where black hats? hmmmmm.
well frosti, i get to wait until after next week, which totally bites. but i won't have to worry about calling aaa to get my car out of a ditch either.
me2, what i was trying to get you to say:
...we need a little of everyone to make fun ofto make this fun...
how 'bout if we all had thongdeliers or coke spew shields. or if we all had a stack of anchors or shovels to knock over.
however, i do think we all have a little mr. gnus in us. raise your hand if you're guilty.

Thank you ma'am...Can I interest you in some pizza?
we need a little of everyone to make fun of...ooops....
Did you folks have some snow??? It was pretty nasty driving here in the north woods on Friday. I had a 40+ mile taste of it coming home from shopping. Not a pretty sight. Cars in the ditches everywhere. Not mine, though!Hooray for Versitraction!
We were actually snowed in yesterday. The plow finally came through late last night, and hubby is going to the store this AM. (I wasn't grocery shopping Friday...)
Hello all snowstorm survivors! It's birthday week at my house, and I haven't been on here to shoot any breezes. Artemis, how's the job? Ares, how're the sinuses? Ian, how's your sense of humor? AW, are you planning a summer hunt? I would be happy to play! Have any of you heard of the "geocaching" website? Have any of you done it? I thought it was interesting, and a treasure hunters dream, although there isn't much noodling to be done.
geocaching is a blast. I lead the state in caches hidden, tho I didn't try to do that. It just happened. The noodling happens "at the site". The GPS will get you close, but a clever cachemaster ( I just made that word up...I like it! ) can keep you guessing.
wolvie, coincidentally, we also had sun and barbecues yesterday here. after the plows came through and sidewalks and patios had their snow removed. what a great excuse to not do any work!
We had Prime rib, done over misquite(sp) coals. The prime rib was rubbed down with Horseradish, garlic and onions. Potato Salad, I make a killer potato salad and some Aspearagus. Man was that some good eating.
I may do a summer hunt, although if I did, it would be a different style from the Medallion Hunt and the Mock Hunt. I'm thinking of a few different possibilities:
1) You get a set of like 20 clues in the beginning, each one leading to a different spot in a different park. To get the "answer" you'd have to actually go to the park. And then once you've collected all the answers, there would be a way to fit them all together and come up with a final clue and whoever finds the answer to that first is the winner.
2) I'm sure Marley would love this one. I was thinking instead of doing verbal clues, you could have a hunt where you get pictures and you have to figure out where the treasure is.
3) This one would probably also involve getting a set of clues in the beginning, but each one would be incomplete somehow except the first one. The first one would lead you somewhere where you get what you need to complete the second clue, which then leads you to where you can get what you need to complete the third clue and so on.
if anyone has input on what they prefer let me know, although for me the 1st and 3rd would be easiest. Maybe Marley should do one of the 2nd type.
I think it's rather rushful when our hustling world is quieted and humbled by a ton of snow. Especially this time of year when it tends to melt quickly. The true Minnesotan will grumble about the shoveling, and then add a layer of polar fleece, look for treasures, or, like Ares, fire up the barbie. It cleans up our air, and fills up the water tables, and gives Maaco some business. Our plowing crews are the best, and many other places in the US are decimated by as little as 2 inches.People who have a problem with a Minnesota winter are not from Minnesota. So do what you like! Me, I'm going out to build an anatomically correct snowman.
Hell 1/2 inch does that here in Oklahoma! =) Of course I am originally from MN. Miss the snow around Christmas time.
I'll never forget the time in Missouri that they called off school the night before cuz we were supposed to get three inches of snow. We ended up getting none so we basically had a free day.
Having grown up in Minnesota it was amazing how people reacted to a few inches of snow in Missouri.
Everything closes down here in Fort Worth when there's much snow, or more likely ice. That's because the city just doesn't budget anything for snow removal -- it isn't worth it. And when the temp goes below freezing everyone is warned to keep their faucets going at a trickle, because pipes aren't insulated down here.
Like you, Wolvie, I kinda miss the snow at Christmas, but when we had a day like yesterday, 85 degrees and sunny and breezy, I'd rather have the windows open and the trees flowering.
ok note to self: a double-dose of advil is still not enough to make the soreness from the rope tow go away. and it doesn't do a whole lot for road-rash from contact with the tubing hill go away any better.
me2, i think i'm gonna have a couple of bruises for ya. you'd be proud.
....BRUISES?....Road rash?....Ares, I thought you were a God! Gods don't get hurt. Oh, man. Talk about a Greek Epic let down. And as for my yesterday's rant about the snow, my family is planning to move due to the long-ass winters here in Minnesnowta. When one's career depends on warm weather, one tends to lose money from Nov. thru Apr. So off we go!...(but being from the Northern part of the state, and a skiier, I love the stuff) So we chose the state where we can drive an hour, and go from 80 degrees, to 3 feet of snow in an hour. Warshinton! East side of the Cascades...Wine and apple, and onion country.hmmmm I wonder what kind of soup that would make? Ares, my new tag line is a real ad from the local paper out there. As a matter of fact, all my tag line are! A hicksville, sleepy, redneck town of 120,000.
J.T., I lived in Minnesota most of my life until last September, when I moved down here. I found PP two or three years ago when I first got access to the Internet, but I stayed away from it because someone with a big blue font was running rampant all over the boards. After that seemed to disappear, I jumped in. I liked talking to local folks, and this place was obviously much more fun than the strib boards.
that doesn't mean i let it get to me, kt. well, there was the night of the pre-dig, but then i couldn't move period, and when you gotta use the shoulder that's not moving to shift, things just don't work right. at least i didn't do what i did *last* time, which was a nice face plant when my head bobbled around too much. of course they didn't have the suicide slope open last nite either.
BTW Wolvie, care to give out your potato salad recipe?
Here you go Muskwa and anyone else that cares to give it a try.
Potato Salad
5 med. Potato's Boiled with skin to almost done 4 boiled eggs Green Onions (scallions) 3 to 4 ½ jar of Helmans Mayo (NOT LOFAT) 1-tablespoon lemon juice 2 to 3 drops of mustard and ketchup ¼ cup of sugar Salt and pepper to taste
Remove the potato skins after cooking. Combine all ingredents and stir. I think this is the best potato salad. I can not claim the recipe though, it is my sisters.
Allison- I think #1 sounds good , artemis likes #3 and we both like #2. You started a brain storm for us with #2, we will see what we can come up with if people are interested.
I also been thinking of some more coins for your hunt,a plastic one kind of like pp,a wood one,a leather one and a couple more fema ones.Just wondering if I should follow thur and make them. Then when you find your hiding spot you can pick the coin that best fits the spot and weather conditions.
We just returned from up north where we Bock Hunted at Fitger's again this year. A certain Rush Harley won for the 2nd year in a row btw. It's a good excuse to get up to Duluth at any rate.
BTW - thinly sliced radishes are a great addition to potato salad.
Morning, hope St Paddy's day treated everybody well. The only green I got involved with was the mucus in my kid's noses. And now I have their cold. Have a nice day!
I got a letter from my son's school informing me that due to budget cuts, bus service will be shut down. As we drive, the school is 2.5 miles away, but as the crow flies, it's 1.9 miles.2 miles is the cut off for busses. Now I'm expected to pay 100$ for the last 50 days of school, because my son cannot fly like a crow.AAARRRGGGHHH!I thought that last years property tax paid for this years bus service...Gripe, gripe, gripe. Anybody else out there seeing school cuts like this? I live in Richfield.
Ah, I wish I had your foresight Ares. I hurled myself into the shower and there was no turning back after that.
as did i. then i stepped outside and turned off the morning autopilot.
How did things go last night?
cold. snowy. in other words, they didn't.
Well, if at first you don't succeed, try try again.

Yes Lady, we got a goodly amount of snow here in St Paul.

My youngest son bowled a new career high score today: 279
5 strikes, a 9/spare, 6 strikes
The spare coulda been/shoulda been a strike.
Oh well. He has a 194 average and has league high scratch game, league high scratch series, league high handicap series.

nevermind. just read your post elsewhere.
When I know more, I'll let you know. It's a bum deal for them to pull the plug without letting the webmaster know.
Happy St Patrick's Day ;)
Howdy All! How was you're St Patty's Day? Not too many green beer hangovers I hope!
Hi KT! I like the job, just finished 1wk of training , excited to start the real work!
Hey Terry! Did you get to see the Aurora, or was it too cloudy? I wish we'd gone up north :(
