Phalen has sledding, nice thinking about water and wood being a golf course, but would they golf us 2 years in a row? Maybe the place where kids like to zoom is a reference other than sledding? like to get high. I know some gets who love to drive very fast down water street cuz they can get air on some big bump somewhere. I do think the first line of clue 3 is a reerence to an outdoor garden, but isnt there a Rose street somewhere?
By looking at a on-line map I see Rose street goes by Phalen and ends up near Como, but Loeb Lake park is somewhere in between, does anyone know anything about Loeb? and how does clue #3 fit Mounds, I think it dosnt.

You came to the right person, the wealth of knowledge. Loeb Lake as it's formerly known as (New Name Mary-Dale Park). This is on Maryland Ave. & Dale St. Hence the name. The Rosebud clue is generally the clue ( #3) where he tells you what it's going to be found in or attached to. Glued to a plastic rosebud, a container with a rosebud on the top etc. (that is why you could search in mounds park..........But try Highland the clues make more sense.
Oh that dreaded Como Park issue. It was hidden there last year, across the street from the Conservatory on Eastbrook. I had heard that there is construction going on over there as of now. When I look at the park book, there is a monument in Como Park off on Midway Parkway the Clarence Curran Hodgson Field Monument "Larry Ho" with the inscription "He left the roses here". Could it be, again???
Give some feedback on this idea. My gut instincts are still telling me Mounds Park or Phalen and roses in the clue might mean something that it is buried in. Usually Clue 2 to 3 tells us what they put that little needle-in-haystack in.

Hooking up Rose to Marydale/Loeb is a neat idea but there isn't much "scenery all around." I grew up just 2 blocks away so I'm pretty familiar with the territory. There's only a couple of possible sledding locations, too, and one of them brings you up near a railroad track (too dangerous). It hasn't been at Marydale since 1972...so maybe. As for the Rose connection to Newell - too obscure. I don't think they would alienate potential diggers with that. Remember: by clue #3 last year all we had was a northern park, a speed limit, and the visibility of Bandana Square (if you were really clever). Clue #4 gave us "Cuomo." Tonight's clue should do the trick.
Forget Marydale.. There is nothing there. Another thing to consider is that Rose also ends at;Edgewater park/Beaver Lake,Phalen,Como Park,
and several playgrounds. There is a street at mounds that is named Thorn@Eral and ends at Mounds. If you however find your kid sledding there they will be at the bottom of the cliff,and a little dead. I don't now about that aspect.

St.Paul Parks and Rec. NO THEY DON'T TELL ME WHERE IT IS!
I'm thinking Hidden Falls park. There's definite scenery & high ground. Obvious water & woods (maybe too obvious). Is there any sledding there? Or, as someone already mentioned, the word "zoom" could mean kids getting drunk or high - I know kids like to do that there. (But, it would be kind of tacky putting that in a clue though).
On lunch time we took a visual view at Mounds Park. There is activity out there. There have been diggers at the outlook, but no slidding area for the kids. There is a small area west of the beacon where there was some sliding activity. We are still stumped on the clue word "Rosebud". I think this is trying to tell us a person, name, or thing, a noun. Why is the word in parantheses and capitalized? Also the word zoom on our spell checker gives the meaning "swiftly (airplane).Well,we need another CLUE!!!! Great whether for a hunt today.

Does anyone remember a bandshell in a Roseville Park? There was a large stone-enlay of a rose in front of this bandshell. Also there was a huge playgound/area close to the bandshell in the park. (Aplace where kids go zoom?)

Many good thoughts lie in past posts; To CK1: As I recall, Steve's guide contains some nice drawings of park layouts that street maps don't give you - could be helpful for those "near 3 trees" kinds of clues; To Mr. Know It All: No brothers but lots of friends in the Rice Street area; give me an age group and I can drop some names; Speaking of Rice Street: McCarron's is unlikely as it's in Roseville. Same goes for all places that don't actually end in "Park." Aside from 1989, the year it was at the Capitol Grounds, it hasn't been anywhere other than at an official public "Park" since 1969. It has never been at a recreation center like Oxford or North Dale so I wouldn't even consider looking at a place like that. People do every year anyway!

Rosebud- is refeering to the movie Citizen Cane - The rosebud in the movie is Orson Wells sled! Zoom- means sliding -

Could high ground be refering to a street name as in "summit" summit ave. MMMM.......There is a little known park right off of summit ave.
