The sign was right down from the giant slide at the top of the hill. Donna, in your address bar, it should list a # at the end of the line. Change the number to a less # and it will bring your post back. You can also select the previous message button at the top of the message board.
Hello all, I just got back from B.C. Alot of people in Zone 1 not to many diggers when walking threw the park very few people. Went to Phalen to see the same not many people. Where is everyone looking or are we just saving our energy?
Scribe, my point exactly. There is so much park not near their events, it is probably there. I'm being BOLD, and goin back forget AA, phalen, Capitol, my spot just makes too much sense, but I can only dig at night where I can't be seen from others.
Lets see...Lamberts landing has the walking/bike paths and is sort of in a depressed area because you can see the bluffs, and isn't there a Pioneer Press Bldg across the river "our deal" - heck I don't know...
well, take it easy everyone, I'll be back with more flayva later on. and hopefully Shaggy 2 Dope will be somewhere around to shed his insight on stuff.
I just hope that Clue #8 does not repeat something already known which is "NOT MUCH" because of the lack of narrowing things down. I went through the ice maze area and that was the only sign I saw which puzzled me because very few people would be in that area. It was off the beaten track and behind and to the side of a building. I didn't even go to BC today but was right by Conway. Alot of people were hoping to have it more broken down into 2 parks so that this weekend could be definite digging time. With Monday approaching and the work week begins again, not much people can hunt. I usually take vacation during this time, but too many things are happening at work and can't get the time off. Depression, depression, depression.
Those wheels are really clicking and some great notions put in prose. The "busiest street of all"if taken literally has to be I-94.The MLK Center and grounds was where I looked today. There were several serious shovelers.
It's really dug up near King's name, presumably "the man of mettle".I think some folks gave up on that site, but it still seems promising. So much for Arlington-Arkwright Park.
But the dove clue still throws me.There's a mural of doves, but that's not "a peaceful bird buried deep in the snow".A lot of digging there anyway.
Scribe - We will be digging, lets talk later, we are not planning on going to get the paper.
Hey all - we went to AA earlier today and the ball fields south of Como just recently. Clues fit well at both, but Scribe is betting on the ball fields. It is definately a wide expanse of space. All of us could dig and never find it. It is not parked full like Como Park is unless there are broom ball games going on.
Okay, I'm going to try posting again without it freezing my computer. Met up with some at Como, and they were doing some digging, but not much. Green and Jake and some others didn't seem sold on it, as did I. So we'll see what tonight brings us.
I just got home from scouting out all the parks (Worked my way from WI to MSP). Not many people around... scattered diggers at each park. Como was the busiest but how many were diggers? There's so much WC activity there. These clues are so DAMN frustrating. You take them at face value. What do you get? You dig a little deeper. What do you get? NADA! Everything leads to every park and, yet, all clues do not add up at one single park! ARGH!
If the bases do mean a baseball field, wouldn't it be field #1 for "one way" and "figure" I just think we are looking for number 1 - and no one say 1st bank...
A lot of searchers find significance in the name Lexington.I'm not getting those vibes.I don't see the word 'battle'but 'duel'.A battle can be a duel, but duel is usually between two. That's why I went to that playground at Burr and Tedesco.
Donna, checked your post. Now that's a lot of noodling. Your thoughts make sense and could easily fit the clues. After reading many of the other ideas, I think we can still make any location fit. That's why the writers of the clue are enjoying us racking our brains. Again, I hope Clue #8 gives us something strong to use and not a fague hint. I know, I'm asking for too much.
A birthday party awaits my arrival. Good luck trying to figure things out. I'll be back.
Me and some of the wolffpac just got back from HF's. I can make every clue fit there but the park is sooo big, it will take a few more clues to narrow it down.
Rondo ran East-West and was condemned when they built 94. There is still a "Rondo" celebratioin every year. There is a Rondo Community Center on Dale So. of 94.
LELABELLE:Rondo was the black residential street in town decades ago.The "memory lane" is fitting because 'Rondo Days'are celebrated every year. The street itself is just a service road now, directly south of I-94.
Thanks for the Rondo help. Is there anything at that Rec Center that would make the clues work? I have never seen it and it is not in the guide, but I was thinking about Rondo Days.
The Highway runs through where the houses and back yards on the north side of the street were. There isn't much left of what is now called 'Old Rondo',but the part that remains is near the MLK center.
The thing is, I think, that while 94 was built over the Rondo community (which centered on Ronda Ave.), it actually replaced University Ave. as a thoroughfair.
What could steer mean - is there a park or public place w/ an ox? Too bad we aren't in Brainerd. Where were the Ox trails? That would definately be traveling the old way.
The problem with MLK is the clue that tells of lots of space. There is some near the ball field, but not a huge amount. The "riding around can be fun" suggests nothing to me.
yeah, been off computer, then got sick, but came up with the rondo thing, allot of stuff fits their, but what about the "Round" for mlk? other thoughts are cap mall still fits. and possibly irvine (old and new shepard road). though, nothing is more busy than 94, for rondo. ANYONE EVER READ THE BOOK "DAYS OF RONDO"?
I get FDR as the man of mettle at Phalen
Yeah, and some guy was hit by a car, while biking, the other day out there somewhere too, i saw that on the news yesterday.
While at Como, I also spotted a sign that stated "No treasure digging". Had to laugh when I say it.
treasure, where is the sign located?
Bottom line everyone - be careful, and be happy, otherwize the 10G ain't worth it. I hate to hear of accidents and all.
you talkin to me?
Treasure Digger, although that was at the Carnival sight.....wonder why the OTHER Carnival sites don't have such a sign???:)
I completely agree Annette!

I would LOVE for it to be downtown somewhere, but WHERE?

Sup Phil, naw, everyone is still split up between like 4 and 10 parks
Lets see...Lamberts landing has the walking/bike paths and is sort of in a depressed area because you can see the bluffs, and isn't there a Pioneer Press Bldg across the river "our deal" - heck I don't know...

Traveling the old way could mean by boat or by train.

T-DIGGER look at my posting 17690 and let me know your thoughts on that I did the research and it all fits

What can anyone tell me about Rondo?
Could also mean "Caravan" like the gypsies!
Annette you can see the 1st bank sign from highland...if you look to the east
I still like my theory on Carty Park, because McCarty was the SuperMayor!

Where's Carty Park?

Carty is near MLK. But doesn't seem to be anything else much there.
Very fine is a name of a juice. Just thought of that when reading the clues again. Just thinking.
Rondo ran East-West and was condemned when they built 94. There is still a "Rondo" celebratioin every year. There is a Rondo Community Center on Dale So. of 94.
I was over at MLK but didn't notice Carty.
LELABELLE:Rondo was the black residential street in town decades ago.The "memory lane" is fitting because 'Rondo Days'are celebrated every year. The street itself is just a service road now, directly south of I-94.
sharky, i noticed it's damn near impossible to find a place to park at como. and it gives me a strange feeling that como isn't the spot.
hmmm...."juice state"...Florida, California....???
Thanks for the Rondo help. Is there anything at that Rec Center that would make the clues work? I have never seen it and it is not in the guide, but I was thinking about Rondo Days.
david, wasn't rondo replace with i-94?
Kent Street runs right into it..The superman/mettle thing...traveling the old way would be before 94...don't really know what else..
The Highway runs through where the houses and back yards on the north side of the street were. There isn't much left of what is now called 'Old Rondo',but the part that remains is near the MLK center.
Joy, clean out the car, pack a nine, and let's fo hunt in the ghetto!!

We've also been to MLK today. I get a good feeling there. Everything fits - especially if you know the history.
The problem with MLK is the clue that tells of lots of space. There is some near the ball field, but not a huge amount. The "riding around can be fun" suggests nothing to me.
Ox ford pool, located in area of MLK
Steer---Bison rd??

Ares,
It would be TOO soon to be at Como again, wouldn't it?
Besides all the parks discussed here, I tried to find one named College off Energy Park. Ever here of it?
