2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

1) consume much alcohol. 2) pretend they don't exist.

That'll just make you a lonely drunk.

scribe i thought you paid attention to the story last summer.

Mon, 01/07/2002 - 9:33 AM Permalink

I did pay attention! But if this is an ongoing problem for you a decision must be made!

For your own good!

We will assimilate you.

We will assimilate you.

and therein lies *my* problem. she already did. and i find myself stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place due to circumstances that are currently beyond my control, but at one point were well under my control.

and just to set the record straight, i very much know that alcohol doesn't solve problems like this. i've got far too much alcoholism upstream from me to even take a risk like that.

Mon, 01/07/2002 - 9:41 AM Permalink

Settle down Ares! I was just messin wit cha!

I happen to know you a bit better than to really think you would let yourself lose that much control!

hey, i'm a very messable person, and i know that's all you're doin'. i'm cool with it. if i wasn't, do you honestly think i'd air out my dirty laundry here? :)

Good Almost-Afternoon-'Heads!

Snow Mommy, I doubt very seriously if MomPress would bee dumb enuff to have sumbuddy out in a PP truck/van in a PP jacket hiding The Med. Like too obvious. It was prolly just a sales rep checking an account/trying to get them to up the number o'papers they take/sign up a new account/deliver buttons, etc.

Esteban! Missed you, dang! I'm with you about the legit, but really think The Hunt will always stay legit. I think MomPress will see to that as well as die-hard Hunters like the ilk you find in The 'Crew... The Hunt is everything to us and so precious. I know I'll do everything in my power to see that it continues for at least as long as I'm breathing!

I'm glad I wasn't hunting bock with you and Ter in the days o'the metal detectors... I doubt if I could have kept from jumping those fools and choking the living spit outta them!!!! I'da been rite with Scribe, dropping bottle caps like crazy... At Conway I lit out after a bunch o'very TALL, very BIG, very HUSKY young gentlemen that were up DIGGING on the ROOF o'the building that was either the library, or by the library. They certainly weren't scared o'me - it being like six to one... - but I musta shocked them! LOL!!! They decided there was better digging to be had elsewhere and left... :D

My fav Hunt was Chair-O-Key, 1998... It was my first! You only ever have *one* first Hunt!!! I've been in the TCs since '86 (with a short stint in '82-'83). I'd heard a little about The Hunt, but thought it was all kind'a silly and even a bit (ah-hem...) dumb. Then I just happened to catch a clue in The Paper, and it grabbed me! I couldn't get it outta my mind!!! I noodled that mother six ways from Sunday!!! From then on with subsequent Clues, spent all my work lunch hours at Battle Creek, just knowing in my heart that's where The Med was! I had The Clues aced! Yuppers! I was gonna find It in Battle Creek! LOL!!! Then even I had to toss in the towel with the Chair-O-Key clue and "double division." I went out to CP one nite, alone, and will never forget the beauty... The fires, the sounds, flickering lights, muffled laughter and voices... It was like being in a fairy tale.

Since then, I've lived and breathed The Hunt. Ittiz the most wunnerful, fun, FANTASTIC adventure!!!

JOE!!!

I'm a relative newbie to the hunt. I was raised in a non-hunting household. When I was in high school, I'd try to noodle the clues a bit, but every time I came up with a theory my folks would shoot it down. And they were right, but had no interest in it. So it was frustrating. I just moved back to the cities 5 years ago, and started following the hunt 2 years ago. But last year was the first time I ever packed up the shovel and went out looking. I'm hoping to find some time this year, between kids, wife, work and school.

Frosti... Well, look for us when you're out. There's LOTS o'us and we'll be glad to keep you company, noodle clues witcha, go grab a bite to eat/take a potty break.

Take your kids Hunting with you! Get them started early!!! :D

Hope to see you at The Pre-Dig Gig!

Jakey... Hello? JAKEY??? CAN YOU HEAR ME????? (handing Jakey his phone...)

Jakey, you are so precious!!! You've more Hunt history and facts in your head than what's collected anywhere else. And speaking of 'else'... I don't think you've much else but Hunt history and facts in that noggin' o'yours!!!

Couldn't find your phone, huh? Thought you'd lost it? Freakin' out, huh? In a panic, were you???

Trent, "Jake... Jake! You're TALKING to me on IT!"

Jake, "Oh."

Jakey, honey, I yust gotta ask... If you can't find your friggin' phone - which in this case was as plain as the nose on your face... - how you gonna find The Med???

Hhhhuuummmm??? Inquiring minds wanna know...

green, jake's not gonna find it. he'll leave winger and steve to do it, and claim his portion of the rewards. kinda like that episode of cheers where there's a money belt allegedly hidden in the bar and sam decides to "read my paper until one of you brings me my half".

Not a problem, I give advice for free to anyone with a simpsons quote on their second line.

Mon, 01/07/2002 - 1:53 PM Permalink

Timmers, you're gonna have to stick close to your mentor, Jakey, this year and help the guy out...

Jake, "MY SHOVEL!!! MY SHOVEL!!! I can't FIND my shovel!"

Tim, "Jake, you're digging with it..."

Mon, 01/07/2002 - 1:55 PM Permalink
THX 1138

For Timmer: "Hello, I'm Leonard Nimoy. The following tale of alien encounters is true. And by true, I mean false. They're all lies, but they are entertaining lies. And in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is no."

THX- Stealing? How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain what’s-his-name? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughin’, did you?”

You have to admit, it is self serving advice, since otherwise you have to read everything I post twice! But thanks again!

This is for Scribe-

Marge: Homer, is this the way you pictured married life?

Homer: Yup, pretty much. Except we drove around in a van solving mysteries.

Jake, "MY HAT!!! MY HAT!!! I can't FIND my HAT!"

Tim, "Ah, Jake, it's on your head..."

######################################################################

Jake, "MY BUTT! MY BUTT!!! I can't FIND my BUTT!!!"

Tim, "Well, Jake. It was here a minute ago. It can't be far behind..."

I hate it when you put words in mouth green, especially when they are dealing with Jake's butt.

And who says he is my mentor? My mentor is Mr. T, I just follow Jake because he follows Steve, and Steve wrote a book, that has to put him aheah of us, doesn't it?

Barney Gumble -"My name is Barney, and I'm an alcoholic." Lisa - "Mr. Gumble, this is a girl scouts meeting." Barney - "Is it? Or are you girls just afraid to admit you have a problem?"

then get all sorts of people after you for all the digging they did when it wasn't out there.

I ain't afraid a no diggers.

And the spotters after you, haunting your every waking moment.

I ain't afraid a no fictional spotters.

And don't forget the points you'd get taken off by Scribe for that. "What, you didn't turn it in for the money?!?!?"

I ain't afraid a no Scribe.

Ok, maybe I'm a little afraid of Scribe.
