Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Lil Slim,
Thats some damn good thinking...course it makes me more angry...but thats funny stuff...I have no idea what you look like, but with that comment, you're a "hottie" in my books...hehe
The only clues that required any abstract thinking were "in and on the Air' (still pretty easy) and "marry 'em" which none of us even got the chance to puzzle over.
Those clues fit so many parks!! It's going to be found by just being lucky that you're in the right park, especially if it's a small park with the clues given. I'm surprised a local at Merriam didn't find it. They should either shorten the hunt or whatever. This year was luck, which is such a waste of time for all of us that have never been able to count on luck and have to rely on working hard.
I'll give an example of how to hide the damn puck you take a damn maple leaf, glue the puck to it take another mapleleaf and you have a med maple leaf sandwich. you fricken idiots I quit this B.S
well dal, what do you say for our team name next year? we can ponder at the rehash...i'm gonna go cry myself to sleep now. nite SM, nite Frosti, Dave, everyone :_ (
In and on the air still could be ambiguous. A radio tower seemed so plausible, but so does Falcon Avenue (a bird and a sports team). They hadn't given a street name yet, which put Falcon in the running.
I was at Merriam Last night, for an hour and a half, digging up right in the same area, only about a dozen people there with the camera crew, 6 clues, what a waste, this is beyond ridiculous, I'm sadden for more than one reason, 6 clues!!!! come on now, and looks like we have another caes of someone who doesnt dig, start their first day, dig 10 minutes and find it, what a waste, not even having a button. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, I know this is said a lot, but there were very few people there last night and im not sure about today, but i must have been right on top of it. And the worst part is were so far away from the re-hash bash, looks like we'll have a whole week to complain
That ties in with my they drop it on some amatuer snow-kicking housewife to prove "Anyone can Win!" You don't have to ba a bonafide hunter...just buy our paper!
I got it..."Mom Press"....let me and my boy Rush Harley write these puppies for you next year....we know how to do this "sh*t up right"...we will withdrawal from the message boards and the hunt next year graciously, to give the rest of these hunter's what they deserve...a game...and not one where some random person walking their dog is gonna trip over the prize, either....there, Ive made my offer.
Hey TMK and Leelabell......... geez, I leave work early, come home to take care of some things, planning on going out tonight, log on to the cooler and learn that it's been found! (Sad eyes) Read the explanation........ terrible clue writing this year! UGH!
I think the clue "down the hill" (merriam park is straight down the map from Arden Hills) and "far from the woods" (MapleWOOD and WOODbury) should have had more meaning. It was purely coincidence that the park lined up with those clues
To say nothing about what it's in as in previous years (all the years) is a GIANT let down. I'm very happy for the winners, but am sad it wasn't me or anyone here. Next year it'll be ours.
"Mary Kay Hamilton and son Sean located it just after 11 a.m. attached to part of a potato chip container in Merriam Park, between some baseball fields."
It's been, what, three years since it's been $10,000? You'd think they'd nix the little parks with such high steaks. Now twice it's been in a little park. Maybe they want it to be found by dumb luck. I dunno.
There is a right way and wrong way to achive a better hunt in the future. It does not pay to be angered at the clue writers. Take the time and go to Indian Mounds Park and you should plainly see that the clues fit better there than at Merriam Park with no doubt. The simple fact is the writers need to take more time and make the clues unique to the park it is hidden in. Anger will probably be the termination of the hunt in years to come.
Awwww....weeeeeeppppppppppp weeeeeeppppppppppp!!! I am soooooooo bummed about the medallion being found (although I am happy for the people who located it). I was just at Merriam last night. I ended up there again...and get this..I left work early today, went to get gas to gear up for the driving all over creation today looking for it, and then stood in a carwash line forever ....while I was looking over the clues, everything and then my friend called me again (she did this last year too) to say someone found it. Bummmmmmmmmer!!! I am not surprised it was there...every single clue matched up.
The thing is...and we seem to do this every year...we read too much into every clue. They are MUCH more simple than what we read. I need to work on that for next year. :( sad face...wahhhhhhhh...this was going to be my entire weekend...to hunt. Now what am I gonna do?
On a side note, I think we deserve the right to meet these clue writers...they are soooo good at what they do and so spunky with the clues...anyone know when we can meet 'em?? :D
Good talking to you all this year. We will see you next year... also, did the movie people get any of the footage?? Stay tuned to the news tonight to see what happened.
There's an article about Med hunters in the PiPress, link on the front page. It starts: "There's one creature that doesn't hibernate in the dead of winter.
Species: Medallionis venator, or medallion hunters. Often seen roaming local parks with heavy parkas, shovels and lanterns. Some members of species gather in boisterous flocks, while others prefer hunting alone. Keeps wary eye on potential competitors.
They're nocturnal. They're diurnal. Heck, they're out all the time.
The $10,000 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is in full swing, and the peculiar breed known as medallion hunters are swarming over local parks and digging more holes than Minnesota has lakes.
bamf* see you all next year. I'm pretty disappointed. :( I'll shoot myself if someone could prove to me that they were digging in a specific area. Oh well.
I agree with Powercamo. Who knows, these finders may even be lurkers or occasional posters to the cooler, and just not known to us by face/name. I'd be somewhat insulted if I read some of the things we have said about her. She got lucky? Good for her! I hope I get lucky next year. Game's over, but the best we can do is be good losers.

The rest were just poorly worded directions.

Leelabell, did we want to meet at Mickey's tonight?
Apparently this was a new clue writer. Think perhaps, with the length of the hunt, we'll have a new clue writer next year? ;)
Lil Slim is EN FUEGO!
The clue writer is a moron. We are definitely being dumbed-down to. (Pardon the grammar.)
well dal, what do you say for our team name next year? we can ponder at the rehash...i'm gonna go cry myself to sleep now. nite SM, nite Frosti, Dave, everyone :_ (

lil Slim, it's too early to sleep. You should drink heavily first.
Night Lil Slim. See you Sunday!
TMK & Leela, there were some Heads on here earlier considering McGovern's, but I can't remember who.

I'm with you, SM. Let someone on here do the medallion hiding and writing. I think we could do a fine job.
Hey TMK and Leelabell......... geez, I leave work early, come home to take care of some things, planning on going out tonight, log on to the cooler and learn that it's been found! (Sad eyes) Read the explanation........ terrible clue writing this year! UGH!
Anyone know what it was hidden in??
Great. Simon just delivered. Scuse me while I eat my way through the bags to find some meaning in my life now.
Congrats 2K2. Wish it had been you. What was it in? I can't tell from the clues OR the explanations.
I think the clue "down the hill" (merriam park is straight down the map from Arden Hills) and "far from the woods" (MapleWOOD and WOODbury) should have had more meaning. It was purely coincidence that the park lined up with those clues
Some potato chip box. like all of the experienced hunters trampling over there the last couple of nights would have passed that up!!
I sure hope mr news aint the 16 yr old son

it better be!!!
"Mary Kay Hamilton and son Sean located it just after 11 a.m. attached to part of a potato chip container in Merriam Park, between some baseball fields."
It was hidden in NOTHING! just laying in the snow
No kidding, Treasure Digger.
"Attached to part of a potato chip container." Me and the Med.

My Dalliance, I hope you don't send the grocery delivery guy back for more chocolate and ice cream.....
I wonder if it was perhaps attached to the top of a Pringles container. That is disk-shaped, and white/opaque.
She was walking around, just kicking snow and it popped out. I was at Merriam after she came back from PP. There are pictures on our web site
Why wasn't the kid in school?
I would love some chocolate ice cream right now.

TMK: Are people meeting tonight somewhere for dinner and/or drinks?
Allison Wonderland's Mock Hunt is coming up soon- then we'll see some real clue writing!
