Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.
THX 1138
THX, were you standing next to Scribe?
I don't remember who I was standing next to. I had on a black coat with pins all over it, black workout pants, baseball cap, no gloves on cuz I hate wearing gloves.
you've got 4 answers. your margin's gotta be at least 25%. does anyone know how they calculate those things anyway????
You got it all wrong. Since we have met, you're supposed to feel bad about my "grapenuts".
THX, Blond hair and glasses?
Yep. I probably was next to Scribe but, I don't remember. I remember I asked if you had met everyone and people in the circle went around introducing themselves.
This is just a venting FYI - But I just returned from the Woodbury Amoco where they had my car since yesterday morning looking for what was causing a clicking type noise when going around corners. They said I needed new upper and lower ball-joints to fix the problem. $800.00 job. When I picked up the car today, it was still making the same noise. I took it back and after long test drives and many mechanics scratching their heads, one of them noticed that the mudflaps were loose. They tightened them up and problem was fixed.
The moral of this is if you know of anybody who wants their mudflaps tightened, send them to the Woodbury Amoco for one of their $800.00 specials.
One of my vendors herd that I brought my car there and he about slapped me for doing so. Apparently the service there is ranked right up there with Southview Chev. Those of you that have had to deal with both of these companies probably know what I'm talking about.
The margin of error isn't calculated from how many responses you have. The margin of error is a reflection of how likely the results of a smaller sample are going to vary from if you polled every single person. It's calculated from sample size, total population size, standard deviations, and such. I'm afraid Ares' math minor won't do it. You would have had to have majored. :-P
OMG....It took me an hour to read where I left off at 1:30....you guys I have figured it out!!! WE ARE ALL WACKED!!!! AND I thought I was the only one!! (well maybe frosti, dal, ares and Me2 but who's counting) This is a heck of a lot more fun now than before the kid found the medallion.....WOOHOO
As for Saturday plans, I suppose a logical plan would be to have a pre-event somewhere near the staging area. Where was that again? Cedar and 10th? Not quite sure what's in that area but I could find out. Then after the parade is the dethroning ceremony, fireworks, and then the Vulcan Victory Dance. I still think that could be fun, otherwise you're looking at a trip to McGovern's or maybe Gallivan's or the Buttery which are a bit closer to the parade route. I suppose I'll have to check citysearch for a more complete list of options.
CM Sorry to just bust in, I guess this goes for anybody looking to have work done on their car. The best place in the Cities for an honest estimate is Bonfes Auto on Seventh St in St Paul! They even did a story on KARE 11 news about how outstanding they are at free estimates and honest work.
Bonfes Mechanical service is a complete rip-off tho.....must be brothers them bonfe's.....a loose mud flap???? Did they give you some money back???? AMoco in WOOdbUrY??
well...I geuss the time lapse proves that most people who post on here during the day are at work up to NO good and have nothing but time on their hands!!! LOL
(well maybe frosti, dal, ares and Me2 but who's counting)
don't ever leave scribe out of that list. she'll get mad if you do :)
c-v joint. constant-velocity. its what makes the axles "bendable" on the front end for steering purposes. sorry i missed the part about them "repairing" the mudflaps in my post.
allison, i've got an electrical engineering degree too. had to take a stats class for that, so i've got the background. i just don't use it. now, the object of my heart's desire, she's the one with the math degree.
Allison - downtown St. Paul you will also find Great Water's Brewery - they have a special Winter Carnival menu. Also Wild Tymes - a good sports bar. Both are at St. Peter & 7th Place.
Seems to be in South St. Paul. Wouldn't somewhere closer to the parade be better so that if people drink beforehand they can just walk to the parade instead of having to jump in a car and hurry to the parade?
Wild Thymes might be an idea. They look like they could handle a group better than Great Waters. It would still be a few blocks to walk, but I don't think there are many restaurants up around 10th.
Wild Tymes Bar & Grill Hockey bar for hockey fans, and hungry hockey fans to boot.

Bar/Club
The Scene It's one of the few bars in town to serve a 32-ounce beer, but you can burn those empty calories dancing to live music Wednesday through Friday evenings. On other nights, a few of those monster beers might inspire you to participate in karaoke. The main room's got TVs galore, plus games such as darts and pinball. Open daily for lunch and dinner, it offers salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, a handful of Mexican dishes and a few upscale menu items.
Allison and Ares - hubby has double majors in math and physics and a masters in finance - please, please, please, don't let him see this thread - he will be calculating 'till the cows come home
Sounds pretty accurate for Wild Tymes but I don't remember seeing any dancing, but perhaps they have that in the back room area. I know they have bands. Guess I just go in to eat - been to Wild Tymes and Great Waters so much lately since I have to kill time and eat dinner after work but before class.
This is for Me2. (Mwah ha ha) (I didn't write this obviously)
Before you order a drink in public again, you should read this!
Seven New York City bartenders were asked if they could nail a woman's personality based on what she drinks. Though interviewed separately, they concurred on almost all counts.
The results: IF WOMEN DRINK:
Drink: Beer Personality: Casual, low-maintenance, and down to earth. Your Approach: Challenge her to a game of pool.
Drink: Blender Drinks-with umbrella Personality: Flaky, whiny, annoying; a pain in the ass. Your Approach: Avoid her, unless you want to be her cabana boy.
Drink: Mixed Drinks - no umbrella Personality: Mature, has picky taste; knows what she wants. Your Approach: If she wants you, she'll send YOU a drink.
Drink: Wine - (bottled not 4 litre cask) Personality: Conservative and classy; sophisticated. Your Approach: Try and weave Paris and clothing into the conversation..
Drink: Bacardi Breezer, Smirnoff ice, Vodka mule, etc. Personality: Easy; thinks she is trendy and sophisticated, actually has absolutely NO clue. Your Approach: Make her feel smarter than she is...and you're in.
Drink: Baileys Personality: Annoying voice, bit of a tart. Approach: Stand close and mention the alley next to the pub.
Drink: Shots (Vodka, Jaegers, etc.) Personality: Hanging with male pals or looking to get drunk... and naked. Your Approach: Easiest hit in the pub. Nothing to do but wait.
Just got the email. Looking at the site. I don't see the Events Coordinator Position though. :-( I might be qualified for one or two of the others though.

Let me guess, you majored in math?
THX, Blond hair and glasses?
it popped up in an earlier discussion today
hahahahahahahahahahahahahah
I was wondering how long it'd be before someone picked this one up.
I was wondering how long it'd be before someone picked this one up
I'm sure when Me2 slogs, she'll be proud o' me.
Let me guess, you majored in math?
minor.
dal, i think thx was on the other side of me when you walked up to me. i think.
THX, since we've met, I won't feel bad.
You got it all wrong. Since we have met, you're supposed to feel bad about my "grapenuts".

Yep. I probably was next to Scribe but, I don't remember. I remember I asked if you had met everyone and people in the circle went around introducing themselves.
Let's just say we've met and renew our acquaintance at the parade. I can't back off now!
Speaking of, does anyone know of pre or post-parade shennanigans?
OK folks. Gotta go get a haircut. 123 ya-ABC ya!
Adios, Frosty.
Speaking of, does anyone know of pre or post-parade shennanigans?
Sorry but, I don't fraternize with people that make fun of my "grapenuts".
:-)
But seriously, it appears we've got to make some pre and post plans.
Later frosty.
Sorry, grapefruitnuts. Better?
Well, I gotta get some more work done before Scribe picks me up.
MCL Ya'll
grapefruitnuts
OUCH....no, that's not better. Not to mention walking.
I'll just quit while I'm ahead.
Later
I'm out, too.
No fruit/veggie/cereal/Animal Kingdom talk without me! :)
::: is it safe now? :::

Whew! Thanks I can move on with my life now...
lil slim: I THINK YOUR A HOTTIE. ARE YOU INVOLVED?
should be, ian. at least till folks get back home.
cm, is the car front wheel drive? sounds like your c-v joints are shot to me.
Ares - It's a 4 wheel drive Blazer. It runs and turns fine now that the flaps are fixed. c-v joints? Is that like blinker fluid?
My 4 yr. old even asked if my tires were low on oil. Daddy thought that was kinda cute.
To answer an earlier question.

No $ back, just a statement that Blazers are known for their loose mudflaps...
I did ask for a free car wash earlier, before the mudflap thing, which they did give me with no problems.
How about a lifetime of carwashes!!!
