2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Hey, My Dal started it by making fun of my tag line.

I have nothing against the Simpsons. In fact, I have about 100 of the episodes recorded.

You like BNL Dal? Or just corny jokes?

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 2:56 PM Permalink

BNL

Is that the band who sings the song that says that?

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 2:58 PM Permalink
ares

yep. bnl rocks.

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 2:59 PM Permalink

you'll actually find them under then name barenaked ladies. the cut is called "pinch me". (cuz i'm dreaming of m&m's)

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:02 PM Permalink
My Dalliance

Oh, I've heard of Barenaked Ladies. Duh.

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:07 PM Permalink
THX 1138

I downloaded what I thought was a BNL song from Napster once and instead of music, I got a long lecture about how music piracy is wrong and that I was evil for doing it and that I'd burn in hell or something close to that.

It was funny yet it pissed me off.

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:11 PM Permalink
My Dalliance

Is Napster no more?

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:12 PM Permalink
Frosti

Is Napster no more?

It's pretty much gone, but there's plenty of other sites that have the same function. audiogalaxy, morpheus and bearshare just to name three...

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:14 PM Permalink
My Dalliance

hmmmmm. I could probably get in trouble doing THAT from work.

Better not.

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:19 PM Permalink
THX 1138

None of them are as good as Napster was though.

I'm against software/music piracy and believe people/companies should get paid for their work. Hell, I want to get paid for the work I do! However, it was really nice being able to try out new music at home.

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:20 PM Permalink
ares

oh no, thx. audiogalaxy has napster beat big time, imho.

and dal, i have both audiogalaxy and morpheus on my machine at work, and use them regularly. one of these day's i'm gonna get ambitious and see hoe much backup tape space we've got devoted to mp3's :)

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:22 PM Permalink
Frosti

Two questions Ares. 1. Do you have problems with the firewall and d/l'ing music? 2. What are you gonna do with all those MP3s? You don't have a burner at work, do you?

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:25 PM Permalink
THX 1138

Audiogalaxy sucks! I-mesh sucks. Morpheus is so-so.

JMHO

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:25 PM Permalink
Frosti

I used to like audiogalaxy, but they have dropped in my opinion. Morpheus is so-so. People keep telling me bearshare has improved, but I haven't used it in a long time.

nor did any of the other angels even talk of such things. One day he cried out "I would forget heaven and all her angels, if I could have just one dream of my own."

Then a blinding light struck him, and a magnificent voice rang forth "So, you would rather forget us, would you? Then a lifetime of dreams shall be yours, if to this you agree: Nothing of heaven will you remember, not even the way to return. You must leave us your memory, for your exile you earn."

"I agree", cried the angel. And over the edge of heaven he fell, tumbling, tumbling through the ages and remembering nothing, as well.

frosti:

1) no

2) i don't have a burner at work. have one at home, along with 10 gigs or so, and growing constantly, worth of music. i also have a player in my tempo. if i didn't like the factory system in the mustang so much i'd put one in there too.

Thu, 02/07/2002 - 3:34 PM Permalink

for music, morpheus sucks, mostly because i can't easily select the bitrate i want. for your non-musical needs, morpheus is quite good.

Can you gig an MP3 morpheus when you burn a bitrate firewall?

um, sure, i think. but only if you're walking around in a trenchcoat filled with diet coke, carrying a laptop with a spitshield, and a thongdelier!

no, but you can morpheus an MP3 gig when you fire a bitwall burnrate.

LOL!!!!! I had one of those co-worker-walking-by-looking-at-me-strangely-moments!

only if you're walking around in a trenchcoat filled with diet coke, carrying a laptop with a spitshield, and a thongdelier!

Wow, you can do all that while walking. How coordinated!

you can morpheus an MP3 gig when you fire a bitwall burnrate.

Yeah, but can you bite a . . . oh forget it!

well, frosti, if you come up with a better term for it, i'll use it. until then, "your non-musical needs" it shall be called.
