2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

I don't care why they do it. I hope they do make money at it. Then they're less likely to discontiue it if something goes wrong or some new bean-counter comes in trying to cut costs. So I highly doubt it would have lasted this long if it wasn't a profitable thing.

Sure has been disappointing though. I love St. Paul's history, it's such a cool City.

Anyway, I should be heading off to bed. Don't know why I've been staying up so late this week.

Allison. You're dumber'un dirt. I love you to death, but you've pissed me off so much I could choke the ever livin' SPIT outta you!!!

Your take's entirely bucks. That's not entirely MomPress's take. Granted, I will give you they want to break even... BUT....

Oh, my jaded Allison...

As long as MomPress can break even or even only go in the hole a titch, there is NO WAY this Hunt will stop.

This is St. Paul. This is MN. We're talking the history and lives and webbed (as in intwined) of the city.

Allison, you break my heart.

Green, I know my earlier post may have appeared negative. I want you to know that that was not my intention, I simply noticed that you are a tad bit more, fired up tonight than most nites. Calling you the matriarch was not intended to be a negative thing. I apologize if you construed it as such.

Jake, I speak from experience. Give it up and just say "yes dear"

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:23 AM Permalink
green

Whoa.

Did I say sumpin' wrong?

Nah. As usual. Totally clue-less and in the dark.

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:23 AM Permalink

Does Green have an "insult me" sticker on her?

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:24 AM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

I don't see one on her. Who is insulting her?

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:25 AM Permalink
green

Gottcha, Rush!

((((((Rush))))))

I just wanted *you* to know this izz not like my party...

Jakey, what did I miss????????

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:25 AM Permalink
Rushmore

I know it's not your party, it is a celebration of the hunt for us of the cooler crew. I meant the matriarch statement because, well, everyone knows you on here, kind of thing, nothing more, nothing less

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:27 AM Permalink
jakeinge

And to say the hunt is being commercialized because someone, and this particular someone is very cool I might add, is shooting a documentary on it is absolutely beyond me and my way of thinking!

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:27 AM Permalink
green

Oh.

Stink I'm catching up here.

I may ace a clue this year after all!!!

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:29 AM Permalink
jakeinge

And Rivraft, I apologize for being harsh, but I am right in the middle of the whole thing and it definately is NOT commercialization.

Green, it's not like I'm going to walk into McGoverns with a bouquet of flowers and say okay, where's the hostess of this thing, Green, Green? Where are you?

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:30 AM Permalink
Rushmore

But just to be a smart ass......

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:31 AM Permalink
green

Jakey, here's a fact...

Read it, accept it.

It [The Hunt] ain't gonna affect too many more folks in the heart like/as it does you and me.

We gotta learn to deal with them it means different to...

The hunt has tradition, the hunt has a passion. I think Trent and Jackie weren't looking to make money off this, but to capture this passion, the excitement. And it will help capture some tradition. I don't know that people who were in it for the commercialism would be out in the freezing cold at midnight to work at watching people dig.

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:32 AM Permalink
green

Rush, you're starting to gag me...

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:33 AM Permalink

How so?

Sweet, Larry Bird/Buster Rhymes Joe!

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:34 AM Permalink
jakeinge

I know, but they are having a hard enough time trying to get through all of the red tape without people saying that kind of thing, and i feel bad for being mean to rivraft because he or she otherwise seems like a pretty nice individual, but ignorance is the one thing that kind of sets this laid back Jake off!

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:36 AM Permalink
jakeinge

Rushmore you gonna be at mcgoverns

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:36 AM Permalink

And my passion for the hunt is second to none!

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:36 AM Permalink

Yep I will, my first time I can go, so I am excited!

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:39 AM Permalink
green

WHERE did I lose it??? NO COMMENT, PEANUT GALLERY!

Where was it ever said or inundoed (sp!) that Jackie and Trent were trying to commercialize The Hunt/off The Hunt?

I missed that!

Which izz good.

WHAT A FRIGGIN PIPE DREAM on sumbuddy's part!

I've seen Jackie in tears over the stories of "I really need to find this; I've no money." I've listened to both her and Trent voice their awe, "Wish we could have been looking since we were kids..."

I've sat with them as they've edited tape... "You know, a Cooler Head's just gotta find it this/next year!"

Them? Commercialize? ROFLOLPMP!!!!!!!!

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:44 AM Permalink
green

Huh?

Jake may not have the brains the gods gave an ameobia...

But ittiz like he's my bro. *I* can beat the tar outta him (like over his phone...), but you even THINK about casting an aspersion upon him and...

YOU GOTTA DEAL WITH MOI!

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:44 AM Permalink
Rushmore

Jake, why do you feel pressure? Is it excitement or what? How old are you anyway?

Kirby-Joe

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:44 AM Permalink
jakeinge

Well, my philosiphy is that every year I don't find it is an opportunity lost, I probably feel more pressure than most and I also may take it more seriously then most, but thats the way it is.

I remember thinking this hunt was the stupidest thing when I was in High School, but a friend of mine read clue #3 in 99 and realized his house # was in the clue, and I remember well being the only one in this desolate park at 3am called Conway Heights.....

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 1:50 AM Permalink

And needless, to say, I was on top of it for almost a week!!
