knight ridder pulled the plug on it on february 7th. about the same time that the old water cooler went away because they wanted all their newspapers' chat sites to look the same. the 8th was a very frantic day as us chat addicts tried to find a new home.
well, i've got a link to it on my web site, which thanks to the archive marley's told me you can't do a search for medallion hunt without finding a page full of links (oh and don't y'all worry about my bandwidth. i moved the treasure hunt stuff to a different virtual server and provided redirect links in the old archives. i'll still be able to surf because only about half of my bandwidth will be in use max for my medallion hunting stuff). i know kings commons has a link to it, aw's yahoo group has a link to it.
If I couldnt see this thread and 'me2' posted in this thread and I looked up her name -'me2', to see the last things she posted...would it bring up this thread?
i'm gonna go on record as saying that i'm willing to burn copies of the water cooler archive from 1998-2002 for anyone who's interested who's got access to this thread for free. any of the lurkers in the non invite thread can pay me the cost of the cd blank for it.

No
You could at one time but I believe they fixed that glich.
I'll log in under my dummy username when I get a chance to verify but I'm 99.9% sure.
not now.... i mean the last time i was up this late, except for new years, i ended up waking up at 230 in the morning on your sister's sofa because we'd fallen asleep watching the first lord of the rings. cut me a little slack. its hell going from sleeping till 9 or 10 to getting back up at 6 in the morning then staying up close to that far the next morning :)
artemis, there's a reason i took vacation time so that i'm not going back to work till the first. gives me a little bit of time to reset my sleep habits back to normal before going back to work. :)
Wonderland....don't be dissun the Map Guy. I went past Merriam first that morning. It was a nice sunny day, so I thought I'd peddle some books to a larger crowd nearby...hence Newell. Had I (and all of us ) known that the treasure would be so poorly hidden, I would have paid more attention to hunting. I also hedged my bet - that it was not the best weather to hide it in a park as small as Merriam and that we were all still jumping to conclusions.
Last year's mother and son duped us just as much as the cluewriter performed badly. We are as much to blame for the poor hunt as anyone, especially with the ideal weather conditions last year.
Treasure Hunting is still about finding treasure. It's illogical or defeatist to share any glory in a stranger's success in this (our cherished) event. I'd be surprised if last year's lucky duo gives a rats @#% about who naively provided them with the guidance they needed.
So beware, they and other thankless part timers will be looking for your wisdom again in a couple of weeks.
Let it be known that I never post the name of the park that I plan on digging in. In addition, I've had several interviews with the media since 1995 in which they ask me where the treasure is hidden. My stock answer is "at a park in St. Paul".
We must respect the challenge of the event and by all means, support the cluewriter in his/her seemingly desparate attempt at being elusive. Giving away the store will guarantee 7 clue hunts year after year.
God is toying with you.
The snow will be gone tomorrow.

I have a blank CD around here. If you're willing, I think I'll get in line for one.
Do I already have one? If not-I want one ...please:)
as my grandma always said...'got anything for free?'
didn't i give you one at marthaler, terry? if not, i'll burn a bunch and have a stack of them at mcg's.
and i knowi gave you one, me2. you're the reason i burned a stack of them at marthaler in the first place.
