Matty B\'s is the home of the Cooler Crew. We\'ve got a party going on every evening from 8 until the clue is released. Sunday night, if the hunt goes that long, the bar will be open but food will not be available.

Recent Clues:

Clue #1 Congrats to the finder, to all a reminder
To hunt hard from first to last clues
Medallion I is history. Now a new mystery
Begins -- strap on your hunting shoes

To some its demented, for all unprecedented
But hunters’ thirst must be quenched
Tell sister and brother we’ve hidden another
In a park where a body can be benched

Our 2nd prize? Don’t laugh -- 10-thou cut in half
So get out there even if it’s snowy
And as a special bonus -- some might say an onus --
A meal with our own Clueless Joey

Good hunting to you, let this be the first clue
Think of a woodsy retreat
It won’t be so hard if you channel the bard
You’ll get warm and smell pretty sweet
Clue #2 If you\'re thinking big you\'re sure to dig
Near flora with growing pain
Winter or summer is never a bummer
A menagerie of fun wild or tame
Clue #3 Success on the third clue will never do
We had to stash a second
Round you go if you seek to know
Where swatters of orbs are beckoned
Clue #4: A walk in the park can be a lark
If cell phones are left at home
Heed the siren of your desirin\'
And do not revolt against this poem
Clue #5 Over hill and dale hit the trail
With a handy locating device
Fulfill your wishes like loaves and fishes
And put your victory on ice
Clue #6 A famous singer and a diamond dinger
Might put you oh so close to the spot
With the whites of your eyes you should look for the prize
Within this convenient plot
Clue #7 Don\'t turn up your noses at the city of roses
The home of the park that you seek
It\'s just north of town so come on down
Our hunt is not for the meek
Clue #8 Don\'t go mental just head for Central
Lexington Avenue will show you the way
Your spirits won\'t sag when you see the big flag
Into the trees you want to stray

What a blast! I know that there is a bit of a letdown now, but I thought this was a good hunt overall. I really enjoyed getting to know several more of you this year and slowly but surely I will get around to everybody. Looking forward to the victory dance and the RHB. SCD's!!

I know other people are going to say it, but how are we supposed to pick out the first, second, third, and fourth words of a clue without prompting, then on top of that anagram it? I'm not a big fan of these clues. The explanations are not that strong. Central park is HUGE, and they didn't do much to narrow down where in the park until very late. Even then, people were all over the place.

Wow! What a night... I can't believe it took so long for the word to leak out. No one knew until around 11:30pm or so that it had been found before the last clue was published. Great job on the conference call. Need to do that, again, next year! The sirens will have to go, though, OUCH! I saw where it was supposedly found and cannot believe it hadn't been thoroughly searched before tonight. I know I saw people looking in that area. I, for one, thought it was too close to the water's edge. Next time, I'll leave no stone unturned! Thanks all. Until next year... More geocaches to discover. It IS the best way to prepare:)

I cannot believe that we just spent the last 90 minutes looking for something that was already found- that sucks and I'm cold!! :frown:

Sounds like it was found 10 minutes before the last clue came out.

yeah,, that can be a risk I suppose.

Kinda lame clue definitions, but then again, I think it shows they actually were prepped on a last minute idea.

I get the rough idea the cluewriters stance on it was "Okay, ya found the medallion fast the first time, I'm gonna stash the 2nd outside st. paul in a larger park and make the clues obscure enough to ensure a longer hunt".

Oh, and I HATE the clue explanations. We really need them to step up to the plate. We're not all stupid! We like a real challenge. Make us work for it but not by scattering us until the last clue. I think this is especially key, now, since I doubt the medallion will be hidden in a suburban park, again. I, also, think the hotline needs to be updated in a more timely fashion. The technology exists, I'm sure.

I wonder what took so long for them to get there- I was waiting for RPD to annouce that it had been found.

Great Hunt. Congrates Jake on a record hunt.

Hope to see ya all in Highland next year!

The conference call worked great. Thanks to al who arrangd it and to those who waited in line.

Several of us were the first to the trees in that area, I think we had a huge advantage tonight because of all of you who waited in line. Thanks a lot..

Great work everyone, i was really hoping to pull the puck out of the snow. I have a hard time believing that the puck was only found at 10:50pm tonight. Those trees were all cleared and the bases were brown dirt. I checked and double checked, unless it was dug up and just sitting there. Hard to fathom,

Looking forward to next year.

Oh, it was great! Thanks to the conference call, the Cooler Crew definately had an advantage on everyone there tonight. It was really funny when people started hearing the clue, as they all went running like a herd of elephants to the "adult" footbridge. I stayed behind in the "kiddie" section and chuckled to myself. Of course, that VB player had the last laugh! But, I'll be back... :goofy:

that cell phone thing sure fits, but aside from that, most of the clues were just to vague, you could get them to fit just about any park, as I'm sure you witnessed - como, mounds, highland, phalen, and of course cenral. In one way the CW puta twist on us noodlers that no one picked up on (the 1234 and then an anagram on top of it) Very clever but like someone else pointed out - how are we supposed to get that? Aside from that, just like alot of other years, the vague clues are just meant to get you to the park, after that it's just luck until the final clue comes out. Otherwise we would have had something about a tree, or 20 paces, or even children mentioned earlier. I think the closest they came was the path that went "around" but that's still allot of area to cover, even if you figured that was what they were reffering to, and you knew you had the right park/path.

well, maybe Allison's mock hunt will be more entertaining, and of course there's always next year....

Thanks to Red Bear for setting up the conference call and leelabell and muckluk for waiting so long in line and being patient and clear while giving the clue and guiding us to where we needed to be! We had a great time!

Back to normal life and lots of work to catch up on. I wish I could make the bash. I had a great time this year and will always feel like a co-finder of the puck with Jake even though I didnt personally pull it out of the snow.

I figure we helped each other find the treasure. Hopefully my year will come soon.

I really enjoyed the conf call, what a great idea. I had a great time meeting a lot of the crew and anticipate meeting many more in the years that will follow.

Thanks for Everything

I agree with everyone else those explanations suck! Pick the 1234 lines and then anagram what idiot would pick that out? the last word, first word of each line fine but come on having to pick basically random words out. Thats stretching it WAY to far.

I can't b elieve its over...then again I never can  It was awsome hunting with all of you this year and someone needs to knock me over the head and make sure I participate in the mock hunts throuhg out the year that people may have! Well I'm off to catch up on 2 weeks of homework sorry I never made it back to Matty B's tonight but after bringing Slim back home I decided homework was a much better choice and I'd see ya'll on Sunday anyways.

I finally got out for a last clue hunt and had a great time! Loved the conference call!

Saw lots of people at MattyB's afterward.

And I came home with a head full of burrs. I'll be sleeping on my back tonight. Might have to get a crew cut. Don't be sticking your head in any hollow trees. :worried:

Am home, others were still at the bar when I left.

A few thoughts:

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Redbear for organizing the conference call. The consensus is that it work out perfectly. People could leave the call, run around, and call back in for clarification. We'll have to try it again.

Mucky met the winners and can tell you more about the find. In brief, they found the medallion south of the big fire near the Lex entrance 10 minutes before the clue came out. (They were close to the house fences). Apparently, they dug in a place that had been dug before, but not all the way to the ground.

Thanks to Matty B's for being so welcome and working with us on the drink prices. They were great and welcoming each and every night.

Congrats to barefoot guy. He called the park early and was the only person on the conference call that realized which kiddie bridge was the correct one. Too bad he was just 10 minutes too late. He was the first one to the correct area after the clue came out.

Thanks to all of you for a great hunt. I had a blast this year. I really thought with my foot injury I would be miserable, but it all worked out. And, being at the paper and on the phone was almost as good as being there.

Okay, I just read the clue explanations. OMG, are you kidding me? The Shakespeare reference was completely unnecessary. I thought for sure they were talking about Avon St. Whateves.

I think we should write a letter to the PP from the cooler crew about how to improve the hunt. AW, have you done this in the past?

Argh! I think we were all in that general area digging at one point! ::edit- thats exactly the area we were at earlier in the day! Marleys going to kick himself-twice! (once for not picking it up, twice for the missed anagram)

Looking forward to the rehash bash!

OMG! I just read the article and saw their pic and it hit me- we saw them right after they found it! We were by the fire pit and saw them walking down the path toward victoria, they stood out for some reason- we thought they may have already gotten the clue, but they must have just found it.

TMK noticed them too- do you remember who I'm talking about?
