CM, did you go out there? I stayed till about quarter to 1 but didn't see you. I checked out phalen and battle creek too but nothing really jumped out at me so I guess I'll wait for the next clue :)

Just got back. We were out there for a few hours anyway. Did you know there's 157 45 degree steps there?!? :-) It was a pretty nice day for a walk/climb anyway. If you parked up above, I drove our obnoxious 'Viking Purple' Blazer with Viking flags all over it.

After todays clue, I think I'll go out if its still out there. When is todays clue going to be posted Terry?

BTW, I was at Harriet Island a few weeks ago and the parking lot wasnt closed, and it was like 10:30 PM I believe, it was well after dark.

The clue will be posted as close to 6pm as I can make that happen.

I noticed last night the clock on my computer was a couple minutes slower than the clock set here on the forum. I'll try to adjust for that.

2 1/2 hours to go to clue 8.

Clue #8

There’s a person of fame, or so they could eventually claim
But to you their later career is hardly worth a thing.
To win at this game, you need only guess the name
Of the person who was known at birth as Leslie King.

And previous clues....

Clue #7

If you arrive after dark, there may be nowhere to park,
But that won't keep a stout hunter away from the treasure.
Did you overlook your mark before following the arc?
Well then walk down the trail to search at your leisure.

Clue #6

So you think it'd be neat if I were to give you a street?
And then you say finding the park would be no sweat?
Well get out of your seat, and be fast on your feet,
Because for street clues this is the only one you'll get.

Clue #5

When times were tough, poor men were rough,
And there wasn't a job anywhere in the land,
We refused to slough. President Roosevelt took a puff,
And came up with a way to lend a helping hand.

Clue #4

The quirky Aquarius you'll find all around us.
While the bullish Taurus is always underfoot.
The wandering Sagittarius is encircled thus,
And the stinging Scorpio is nearby at the root.

Clue #3

It's true that fall has now fell, so the weather does tell,
And you'll see it confirmed by the many bare trees.
But if you want to excel and find where the coin doth dwell
Look for something at a fairly consistent forty-five degrees.

Clue #2

There's no need to drivel, Americans should be civil,
Even if they've been known in the past to get cranky.
Look up, don't shrivel. Pick one side, don't swivel.
And between the two, it's best to align with the Yankee.

Clue #1

Well since the hunters all came, let's begin one more game,
You should stick to St. Paul's parks to make this hunt shorter.
And if it should be your aim to be in the gallery of fame,
You need to locate the region using a scent and a quarter.

I'm waiting until someone else comes up with that answer. Then we can start fitting these clues together.

Good!

I'm thinking it has to be Hidden Falls, right? If we were not to get another street clue, this would have to be the Ford plant or bridge.

Sat, 11/08/2003 - 5:08 PM Permalink
tim_the_hunter

Yeah, its got to be hidden falls.

Sat, 11/08/2003 - 5:09 PM Permalink

Sat, 11/08/2003 - 5:10 PM Permalink

So what's the best way to take from the east side to get down there?

Sat, 11/08/2003 - 5:15 PM Permalink
Terry

So what would the "a scent and a quarter" mean?

I figure the ascent is coming up from the park - but the quarter?

That ascent must be the 45 degrees.
