It's been a couple of weeks now since the Rehash and hopefully everyone has had time to recover from the Medallion Hunt. But now it's time to start thinking about the Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt which will be starting two weeks from today on Saturday, March 2nd. We will have a kickoff party at Gabe's by the Park starting at 5:30pm. The first clue will be released at the party at 6pm.
Subsequent clues will be released daily at 6pm online and will be posted on the AllisonWonderland yahoo group as well as Ableminds. People are free to repost the clues to other sites, but I'm not making any promises to do so myself.
There will be 12 clues in all and the hunt will end when the medallion is found or when the hunt is declared over (by me) in the case of extraordinary circumstance.
You may participate in the hunt as either a registered or unregistered hunter. To be a registered hunter, you must pay the $10 registration fee. Then if you find it, you will win the entire prize which this year will be $500 (registration fees + money left from last year + money I chip in myself to bring it to $500 even). You may also particpate as an unregistered hunter which allows you to hunt for free. If an unregistered hunter wins, they will get $100 and the leftover registration fees will carry over to the next year.
To pay your registration fee, you may pay me at the kickoff party, you can send me the money via PayPal at AllisonWondrland@yahoo.com, or email me and I can give you an address to send a check to. You actually have until the release of the 4th clue to register. Some people have already registered.
The hunt will take place in a park in the city of St. Paul. The medallion will not be on or in a body of water, on top of a building, up a tree, on a steep cliff, underground, indoors, inside anything electrical or something that is locked, or anywhere else that might make you ask if looking there could be a bad idea. Be safe, and don't destroy.
Payment of the prize is contingent on return of the medallion.
Cluewriting is underway already and this should be an interesting one.
The clues are written, the treasure is hidden, and we're all set to go at Gabe's for this Saturday at 5:30pm. If you haven't registered already, you can do so at the party or by Paypal at AllisonWondrland@yahoo.com. You have until the release of the 4th clue to register. The prize this year will be a flat $500. I do believe this will be an interesting hunt so I hope we get some good participation.
As of this morning I count 22 registered hunters. People still have until 6pm tomorrow to register. Assuming of course no one has found it by then.
Half an hour left to register. I'd say we have about 25 people registered this year. That includes the woman who found the Winter Carnival Medallion this year, the finder of last year's AW Mock Hunt Medallion, as well as other past finders from this hunt. We also have several others who hope to become future past finders.
The hunt is still on! High temps for the rest of the hunt should be at or above freezing. Also looks to be mostly sunny except for Saturday, but generally some good hunting weather.
Did I register in time AW....I think i was seconds late.....(although i would probally donate the $$ right back to the cause after i find it 100 or 500 isallokwitme)..Thanks in advance you Wonderland Rabbit of Clues..
Was that the one that came in under Scott Jesness? If so, it was actually sent to the wrong email address as it went to the Yahoo group instead of my email. If you want to cancel it and send it to AllisonWondrland@yahoo.com instead, I'll allow it since you tried to pay on time.
The hunt is still on! Though to be honest, I'm not really sure if anyone's even been out looking just yet. The Cheshire Cat and my other spies have yet to report.
I'm at the same park as ive been for three or four days. Haven't seen anyone yet out here. I really like my park but fanned snow is not helping at all.

For all those who would heed the rabbit's call.
In this twisted race, you'd best get first place
Before the other guys make it their haul.
If books are musty, and maps are dusty,
And your chair has a well-defined ass mark.
Then let me be frank, you will come up blank,
Without an ernest try out in the park.
In fair Wonderland the hunt is at hand
For all those who would heed the rabbitÂ’s call.
In this twisted race, youÂ’d best get first place
Before the other guys make it their haul.
If books are musty and maps are dusty

With Jake a quandry, air dirty laundry?
Did he ride fortune's wave or just get wet?
Or forget old news and get to the clues?
Then look for one of a global quartet.
Clue #3
Why, when out walking, are we oft talking
About our dreams to the powers above?
One may be single but two will tingle,
Yet ten is what you need to get past love.

But the clues are so delightful.
And since I don't have to be the one to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
Clue #4
Near water serene a wave can be seen
The sweet current flows by gently on cue.
To the sirenÂ’s call you will surely fall
If you stare too long at the mermaidÂ’s view.
And the previous clues:

Clue #5
If you take a bit to just stop and sit
ThereÂ’s a tree that doesnÂ’t look as it should
Not an evergreen like IÂ’ve ever seen.
Maybe ponder some other type of wood.

Clue #6
When mapping edges instead of hedges
We often use streets to mark a parkÂ’s grounds.
But in this yearÂ’s game, few such streets to name.
As this one has more irregular bounds.

Consider largesse to make some progress
Tis the secret of wise men over fools.
To further hasten look to the mason
And the products of his primary tools.

Begin at the top, but go on, don't stop.
Just let yourself give in to gravity.
The red light's fleeting where the trail's heating
Near a place unfit for depravity.
Clue #9
ThereÂ’s room for a tot, though not a lot
So you may want to go play in the yard.
When youÂ’re near the spot, go and take your shot
With no opposition it wonÂ’t be hard.
