I answered the first one by inserting my answer into the URL, but I got "page not found". Did I not answer correctly. I know I have the right *idea* for the answer (category), but perhaps need to word it differently (individual names) to get to the page? Or should the page tell me I have the wrong/right answer? If I need the individual names, do I just need last names? Do they need to be in the order of the photos shown?
Got the first one. The second one will be tough for me, as I don't do celebrity face recognition very well. Some of them are coming to me, though - I printed it out and glance at it from time to time and a name will sometimes come to me. Fun clues, AW. I don't know why I'm doing this - I probably won't even be there in September!
Sure if you want to work as a group. Maybe not if people want to try and solve it on their own. Maybe even work as teams and each team can have their own invite only thread?
I'm on the 2nd one - some of the images of the celebrities are hard to make out who they are. Do we need to know the names of ALL of them?
I could PM you, AW if you want to discuss particular faces... I've got all but 6 of them, and a 'maybe' on one...the redhead in the upper right corner is hard to make out recognizable details of her face - have absolutely no idea who that is.
I've been working on the second one since I solved the first one. It is a bugger. What do you mean by "pattern" AW? They seem to be not recent photos. Is this something all 20 people have in common? Perhaps one related to the next, and that one to the one after them, etc? Hard to know if I have the right answer but just not the exact wording. For example if all have done something very similar, the answer could be "allhavedoneit" or "alldidit" - know what I mean - is it something where the hitting on the exact wording will be a fluke?
Sequence of the movie stars in Puzzle 2 is the same - AW just changed a poor photo of one of the celebs for a clearer one. One of those things - you stare too long you can't tell the forest because of the trees.
Are you talking about the stars on Puzzle 1? They're the same.
Hey, AW - Puzzle 2 - the chick in the 2nd row that looks like she's right out of the 80's - 2nd from left. I swear she was on Falcon Crest or something like that, but I cannot find a matching photo anywhere. Can you confirm?
The thing that is bugging me about the second puzzle in AW's pre-hunt contest is that the photos seem pretty obscure, in terms of finding the exact same photo online. A few I have found the exact photos. I numbered the photos 1-20 for ease of discussion and have found #4, 10 and 11. But even on the others I am sure of the identity, when I look at google images, or photos from the IMDB website, etc., I can't find that exact photo of the person. That is not the case on the first puzzle - they were commonly used photos you would see again and again on various websites.
Also the photos seem to be from awhile back, at least most of them.
I am amazed that even my friends who are pretty knowledgeable about celebrities, are having a difficult time due to the obscurity of the photos.
Any thoughts as to whether this plays into the answer in any way?
I'm still hunting for patterns, but for a change of pace we're actually WORKING at work today - on the stuff I get paid to do! Problem is, it all has to be done RUSH RUSH RUSH in order to get shipped on time.
I'm probably going to abstain from puzzling until later tonight - just remember, Eags - it's always harder to see the forest because of the trees. AW's puzzles from last years' hunts were never as complicated as they seem - once you figure out the cipher.
(I'm still hunting for names from the Puzzle 2 top row photos - I've got the two lower rows named.)
If the photos seem obscure, it's probably only because I used Yahoo instead of Google. I mostly went for the picture that I thought was most identifiable and yet about the right size. Generally I didn't have to search very deep for them. As for being from a while back, I went more for pictures of people in their heyday as opposed to their most current picture.
As for the "80's girl", she was indeed on an evening 80's soap opera, though not Falcon Crest.
And to reply to Kitch, the numbers of the stars are in the same order. they go straight through from 1 to 50. However, the font turned out a little funny and sometimes numbers look like other numbers.
Probably not going to be very accurate for these lower-resolution photographs. May get some hits on a couple, but my guess is that a few pixels off means 'recognizing' about 300-400 people of the wrong face type.
Figuring out the breaks is all part of the puzzle. I feel confident though if you try different possibilities, you'll end up with only one reasonable answer.
Thanks!
I have listed with the category only, names in order, names with state abbreviations in order.
What are we doing wrong, Allison?

Missing about 9 and a question mark behind two more.
As for the second one you may not need to figure out all of them if you get the general pattern. Or show them to friends and get more people involved!
I am now going to bed.
Thanks for the updated photo.
Goodnight and SCDs
Well, I got plenty of time to waste on this tomorrow at work, so have fun, everybody!
Looks like your hunt is working AW - TV usually doesn't miss the big ones
