Hey Becks & me2:

Hi Brad,

...I am meeting with the Rep. from Sun Current tomorrow and I think the would like to have a picture of someone turning in the Golden Star since they are the Sponsor for the Hunt. They could print it in the lay out for this year and maybe do a little story about you and your friends yearly searches that part of the weekend has gone unnoticed for along time. That is if you'd like maybe it's better to keep a secret. Anyway if you would email them over I will forward it on to her.

... Thanks.

Becky L. Austing

Vadnais Heights Hunt:

Clue #1

For Vadnais Heights it's the big five-O,

A time to look back at what is old.

So to help with this historical celebration,

It's time to search for the award winning medallion.

Clue #2

Use a computer or a GPS if you must,

But shovels and rakes are an unneeeded bust.

The prize that you seek is on City land.

Just look for the buildings with a lovely tan.

Clue #3

Down the street from where people walk and play -

Where food, games, and fun happen on sunny summer days.

If you don't study, this grade is the road to make one frown.

The medallion lays in waiting just hoping to be found.

I think you need to head to Community Park -

Clue 1 - A time to look back at what is old.

The Old City Hall

Clue 2 - The prize that you seek is on City land. Just look for the buildings with a lovely tan.

Other city bldgs are there too.

Clue 3 - Down the street from where people walk and play -

Where food, games, and fun happen on sunny summer days.

If you don't study, this grade is the road to make one frown.

Located on the corner of County Road F and Clover - It is also the site of the Heritage Festivities

If the next clue talks about a drinking place - the Clover Bar is right across the street.

Heritage Days Medallion Hunt

Clue #4

If all the clues you read as a book,

you know in what area in which to look.

Now go to the place where in winter aqua is hard,

walk in the direction where old Sol greets the morn.

Then make like the birds when in the Fall they fly.

The medallion is waiting to catch your eye.

Mr. Med Hunter

The Heritage Days Medallion was found sometime between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. this morning by two lucky Vadnais Heights residents: Brian Willey and Kit Ehrler - congratulations to both!!

And Kats clover comes into play! Nice noodling.

Clue #5

May a symbol of Irish luck look upon your quest,

And the echo of bells long ago play in your head.

Hope for nice weather, since bad storms cause ears to ring.

The medallion owes its home to Charlie Brown and his friend.

Learn More About Babe

If you're going to spend 25 years on television, you can't fake enthusiasm, and you can't pretend to be something you're not

That's why, through all those years, a natural bond developed between Babe Winkelman and the people who watch him fish and hunt on TV.

As the host of "Good Fishing" and "Outdoor Secrets," seen throughout North America on both broadcast and cable stations, Babe has succeeded in fulfilling his dream of being self-employed in the outdoors industry through a combination of hard work, good business instincts, and a gift for communicating his love of hunting and fishing.

" Viewers identify with him," says longtime friend and fellow fishing pro Spence Petros, "because he seems like the kind of guy you'd like to spend the day in the boat with, or out stalking deer with. That's because he is that kind of guy; he's intense and focused on what he's doing, but inside him is a love and respect for nature that shines through in everything he does."

The Story of an American Entrepreneur

For Babe, fishing began at the age of six, along tiny Stoney Brook which ran through his family's farm in central Minnesota. He remembers the creek seemed so big to him at the time, a kid after adventure, and anything that would bite.

wow...cool history in that town..

Mr. H. J. Ludlow is known up north for "giving the Okabena Apple to the world." He named the apple the Okabena after the lake on which his farm fronted. Okabena is a Native American term and means "Home of the Heron."

Here is clue #2

Now don't be lured down by the lake,

I'll tell you now that is a mistake.

From there go north-east

as the Turkey flies,

To another body of water before your eyes.
