Grand Marais is bustling with activities, contests, prizes, a medallion hunt, restaurant specials, & moose-spotting tours for the final long weekend of autumn coinciding with MEA school break.
Thanks for posting that Kitch. I just got back from Caribou - got kind of a late start today. I had the same thought about the Park and Ride on Blackhawk near Cliff. And the only reason I know about the Park and Ride is because I overshot the turn into Target and had to turn around someplace. And of course it doesn't say driving FROM where - don't know if we can surmise driving from Caribou???
well... theres other parks right in that area too, as long as you're tossing Lebanon Hills out there...
Rahn Park isnt far away...
Thomas Lake Park?
I forgot all about this, last night... we had to drop my moms Toyota back off at her place.... and thats right on the edge of Lebanon Hills, on Parkridge Dr.
Lebanon Hills would be a nightmare. They might as well tell you in the first clue if it's in that park. Then spend the rest of the clues narrowing down where.
When I walked in, the clues were being changed by hand - used to say South or East, and East was crossed out with a black market and West written in. I don't know if people who got there earlier got the wrong clue or not.
Sorry, I did not get to Caribou yet today for the clue! I had a business meeting in Plymouth this morning and it stretched into lunch and half the afternoon. Then I stopped at Micro Center and Trader Joe's on the way back here. I can still run up there and get a clue this evening, if no one else has gotten one.

First clue ("riddle") was released today:
DAY 1 RIDDLE!
NOVEMBER 5TH
My home is in Eagan,
to be close to the
"Best Coffee Shop in 2007"
The rules, to the best of my recollection:
$3.00 purchase gets you a clue.
No digging needed.
When you find the medallion it will have instructions with it.
Its on public property in Eagan, but it is not in the Caribou store.
This is the only store doing this medallion hunt.
The prize is a $50 caribou gift certificate.
If the medallion is not found by November 17th, a final BIG clue will be released on the 19th.
----------------
Most people in line are saying they don't want a clue (cool - more likely one of us will find it).
This week, I will visit that Caribou daily and then come back to Mags' house and post the latest clue (riddle).
That remind me, I gotta use up those dunn bros g/cs before the end of the year...
I know where Cliff is but not Nichols
I heart Caribou
while driving to me, you will
pass a place where you can
"take the bus and avoid the
fuss".
there is a park and ride on the corner of 35 and cliff.
what worries me is that L.H. is past there...if its in that park forget it...there is tons of geocaches there and I refuse to go..
Rahn Park isnt far away...
Thomas Lake Park?
I forgot all about this, last night... we had to drop my moms Toyota back off at her place.... and thats right on the edge of Lebanon Hills, on Parkridge Dr.
maybe if it was a city sponsered hunt, with more clues....
speaking of.... I wonder why Eagan doesnt have a medallion hunt...
seems like every city around there does... Burnsville, Apple Valley, Rosemount...
since they REQUIRE you to buy a $3 drink b4 you get a clue.
thank you...
November 7th
If you can't go South or West, what directions are left?
thank you...
a sign that, read quickly,
might be a gangster's name.
Day 5 Riddle:
November 9th
Does your car need fuel?
Turn left.
